Recommend calling ahead for your togo orders as it's a one man show. The owner was really great and friendly! They have great wraps/"sandwhiches". The menu looks simple, but everything has great flavor and there's a ton of different combos you can make.

Ok, tried this place on a whim 4/29/24. Been open 2.5 months in Farmington Hills. I am Indian-American and have been eating Indian food since I was three so I know my stuff. Desi Ruchulu is casual with booths and tables w/nice chandeliers overhead. Flat screen TV panel. The original restaurant is in Ann Arbor and has been open 2yrs. Pay by ca$h and get 5% off. They close the place from 3p-6:30p every day. No online ordering during this time. Very clean but I didn't try the restroom. I waited 15 minutes for my takeout since I ordered in the place. Now to the food:Spinach/Onion pakoras ($9.50) were nicely spiced and delicious. Samosas ($4.50 for 2) came with mint & tamarind chutneys and were the BEST I'VE EVER HAD, period. The chicken tikka kebabs ($17) were moist, tender and just right ordered medium heat. Lamb vindaloo made my eyes water, only seasoned experts should order this! Overall the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back many times...especially for the buffet lunch which is available weekends only.desiruchulufarmington.com

One of the best Indian food restaurants in town! The food was so aromatic and the garlic naan was really buttery. I ordered the Mild+ spice because I thought Medium would be too spicy, but I think I'm gonna go for the Medium spice next time. Highly recommend!

Let me just start by saying that I just moved to Ann Arbor from London so my standards for indian food are maybe a little unrealistic. I can acknowledge that.We ordered for takeout today and got chicken korma, butter chicken, chicken biryani, and Chana masala as well as a few orders of naan and some chutneys. Naan was way too crisp but had good flavor. The chutneys (with the exception of the tamarind) were missing the punchy Indian flavors I usually look for. The chicken curries were adequate but not great and I found a gnarly bone in one piece of chicken. The biryani and Chana masala were really good. We ordered the Chana masala with medium heat and it definitely had a kick to it.If we're unable to find anywhere else better, we would reorder, but we're still on the hunt for good Indian food in A2

Wow!!! Outstanding cuisine. Slice level was perfect...medium spicy. I say this because the heat for the spices came from the back end as I ate this excellent creation. I had the chicken biryani with shredded (boneless) chicken. The best was prepped with spices that was done to perfection. I also had the gobi Manchurian. They had multiple variations which impressed me. The butter naan was fresh. The spinach onion pakora was among the best I've had. Although my order was to go, the dining area was quaint, casual and unassuming. But I will admit, it was small. The attendant was friendly. Overall, I had a great experience.

Desi Ruchulu exceeded my expectations with their well spiced dishes! The Gobi medium spice was perfectly seasoned with the warm indian spices you want. The spinach pakora was crispy and flavorful, and the Andhra goat curry had just the right amount of kick. We ordered medium spice on everything, and it was the perfect amount of heat to keep you bouncing from the Gobi and goat to the chapati and rice and dosa. The chapati had a ncie bite to it, the stuffed bajji was a flavor bomb, and the Desi Ruchulu special potato dosa was satisfyingly filling. Each dish was bursting with authentic flavors that left me wanting to go back and try other menu items. A definite must-try for those seeking authentic Indian cuisine. I bet it would have been better fresh instead of carryout.

This place hits the spot for solid Indian cuisine. On a recent weekend, we wanted to grab a bite for lunch and my husband suggested Indian food. Desai Ruchulu was nearby, and a quick check of the menu showed a vast array of dishes to choose from. I went for Chicken Tikki Masala and he went for Vijayawada Chicken Biryani. A friendly associate told us it would be a quick 20 minutes for our order. 20 minutes later I got a text that our food was ready, so I played Door Dash and picked it up. Back at home we dug in. We both had gotten mild, and there was a bit of a kick to our dishes (next time we will try Kids mild!), but the flavor was good. Portions were generous, and I had a great meal the next day out of my leftovers. We will mark this spot as a great place to grab a bite the next time that we want one!

We got takeout here, so I can't speak to service or ambiance. I had the following:SamosaCrispy golden pastries stuffed with spicy potato and peas sautéed and fried up to perfection$6.49Lamb Roast Biryani Halal. Dum-cooked with layers of roasted lamb pieces, long-grained basmati rice and aromatic spices to deliver you the best of royal taste.$17.00I LOVED the samosas. The pastry part was very light and crispy. They were some of the best I've had. I always prefer the chutney for dipping, so that was what I had, and it was good--I wouldn't mark it as remarkable, though. My biryani was very dry. I enjoyed the flavor and I appreciated that we got some extra sauce on the side, but the extra sauce barely made a dent in how dry this was and the container for the sauce was way too small for what I needed. In terms of bones and spice...I had a couple of bones in mine (as noted by other reviewers), so I need to make this note as well for those who don't peruse the other reviews before ordering. I ordered medium spice and it was perfectly spiced for me. Friends of mine who got takeout, too, remarked that their mildly-spiced food was more spicy than expected, so take note of that, too. Were I to go back sometime, I might try another main dish. Hopefully, it wouldn't be so dry.

This is a small restaurant located in a strip mall. It might not suit if you are going as big group. Service is good and got the food without much wait time.I had lot of expectations with seeing the reviews and hearing they will be opening second one in Farmington Hills. But it didn't stand up to my expectations. Chicken Dum biryani and vegetable dum biryani I had the less flavorful one here only. Karivepaku Gobi doesn't have the flavor of curry leaves other than seeing sprinkles of curry leaves on it. It tasted good and doesnt sound much different other than regular Gobi. Karampodi chicken is also average

Very disappointed with the goat vindaloo. Gravy was too thick and not vinegary and light. I prefer mutton meat.
