We loved Kruse & Muer, so were apprehensive about a change. Our first visit was not inspired (it was consistent with the first couple 1-star reviews I see here, though I think 1 star is pretty miserly), but we told ourselves we'd try it again. So glad we did! Our server was great and the food delighted us. Maybe the food has improved since early 2024 (our first visit and the 1-stars) because it seems like more than pure luck. The tuna appetizer was tremendous, with nice radish and cucumber and a beautiful homemade sesame sauce. To make the experience higher end, I wish the sauce came in a ramekin rather than a plastic cup, but that doesn't hurt the taste. Then the 801 salad, which was excellent, with a nice tangy dressing and a good selection of vegetables. The bread was as buttery and wonderful as you might hope. My wife's steak soup was so thick and rich that you could have used it as gravy on mashed potatoes. I was a bit worried about the tenderloin being too heavy, but the sauce was actually fairly light. I'm sure it had plenty of salt, but it didn't taste salty. The perogies were good and the steak was good. The standout to me was the mushrooms! Multiple kinds, not just buttons! So tasty and excellent texture! My wife's cajun seafood roast had some heat to it. The jalapeno sauce on the side was even hotter! A really nice burn and you could dredge your seafood through as much as you wanted. Definitely don't order this if you want a mild cajun flavor with no spice. Finally, our sweet waitress suggested the peanut butter pie and, despite being a diehard chocolate fan, I loved it. Best peanut butter dessert I've ever had. It was like a peanut butter mousse on a graham cracker crust. Perfect texture.

Had high hopes. Made a reservation 5:30. Saturday night. Drinks are way overpriced. I spent $180 here for 2 ppl. Dried out snapper and a watery beef meal. Salad sounded so good on the menu had like almost NONE of the ingredients listed. Apparently people don't know what good food is because this place is packed. All I can guess it's at Lake Orion is over congested of people and so all the restaurants get crammed. I drove out of the way to try this place. Terrible. Total waste of money. Also bartender doesn't know how to make a drink. I got pink water instead of a cosmopolitan. Don't go here!

We had a great dinner at Darrel's tonight. I had the NY Strip, my guest had the Ribeye. Both were well seasoned, cooked perfectly and the Brussel sprouts were outstanding. Andrew was attentive to our needs, knew the menu well and made great recommendations. The restaurant atmosphere was inviting and comfortable.Thx for a great dinner, we will be back!

I have eaten at Darrel's multiple times and gotten the filet each time. It is exceptional and has always been prepared to the temperature I ordered. They have many other menu items I know I would enjoy. The entrees come with soup or salad and a side. The grilled vegetables and cheesy potatoes are favorites of my dining group. If you get a steak and like grilled mushrooms and onions, I suggest ordering them on the side; you get a larger quantity. I didn't have enough when had them put directly on the filet. Others in my group have raved about the porterhouse steak and the salmon. The prices are very reasonable. The wine corkage charge is $20.All servers have been friendly and desire to provide good service. Darrel's seems to have long-term servers who are well experienced and very short-term who are still learning their job and serving tables is a difficult job. Two of the servers needed others to open the wine as they were too young. I think this may have been the first job for both of them. They were so pleasant, working very hard, and wanting to do pease that it was easy to overlook small oversights and remembered my first job which was not nearly as demanding.I will continue to dine at Darrel's and recommend you do as well.

Wow. What is going on here. Darrel knows his steak. Indeed. This place has been on my wait list since it opened. Wow. Just got back. Was not disappointed at all !We walked in and waited about 30min. No RSVP. No problem. The place is pretty big. We waited in the pickup room. Not bad.Once we got our table, everything was excellent. Service with a smile. Fast service. Attentive staff. Our steaks were on point. I had the T-bone and the wife and kids had the NY and Ribeye. All cooked as ordered. I also ordered the "chicken gumbo" soup and the "steak and mushroom" soup. Wow. The steak and mushroom was Wow. Delicious and hearty. The Gumbo was more celery soup. Both are good but the steak and mushroom was the clear winner! Bread and salad was also good. Also, the Au jus was perfect! That's how you know a good steak restaurant. This place is pretty expensive but well worth the price!! If you look at the reviews, he's got some high rating reviews. You must try this place! If you like Longhorn and other steak places. You must try this place.Highly Recommended!

We love the chicken dinner! Delicious, nice size portions. I've been in the restaurant a couple times, but my family normally orders our meals to go.

Always have great food here. Their family meals from $50-$60 easily feed 4 with bread, salad, and an entree. We all of them. Great pear margarita as well! Super friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

Food was good. Expectations about the food were met. Steak was cooked as expected and good tasting. Wine was good. Salad was very good.As to service our waiter was less than expected. Not engaging and seemed to much matter of fact. Maybe distracted. Other staff were pleasant.Walking out at the bar you had the sense that Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue may be needed. Not sure but think this place could execute a bit higher for the offerings and in some manner the food price.May be back but not at this point a must go to.Ambiance is that the tables need a cleaning perhaps a bit of updating. Interesting that no salt and pepper on the table. Even at a 4-5 star restaurant would have that. Not necessarily needed but odd.

This is our go to place for a good dinner. The steak is always awesome. I only give it 4 stars because 1) the server should introduce themself 2) server should tell you about the special and 3) the 801 salad says it has asparagus. The last 3x we have been here there hasi been no asparagus in the salad. We love this place and have never had a bad meal. Nicer silverware and a wine list would make this place 5 stars We love how the slight renovations have made this place more appealing.

Dine in or carry out, both are great options. Steaks have been the best around, beautifully marbled, tender, cooked perfectly. Flounder is also fantastic. It's one of our favorites. The family to go meals have been a great value. Just make sure you call in around noon to request your meal, because it sells out by late afternoon every day. We got the oven fried chicken meal last time, we all ate more than expected. It was that good. Really. In the restaurant, the servers are super friendly and efficient. They've done this job for years, you can tell, and are swift to accommodate requests. They can answer questions honestly and easily, as well as make good recommendations. The menu is pretty standard. Nothing is terribly adventurous or unusual. Maybe it's the area that doesn't command that, or maybe people just want the tried and true fare. It's all good, the steaks are fantastic, and there is something for everyone.
