Cuppy's Best Soulful Cafe

First time trying soul food! The gumbo was full of savory flavor and the shrimp and chicken were crisp and delicious. I really loved the cocktail sauce for the shrimp and the corn bread was great! I also had Mac n cheese and black eyed peas as sides--I never would've tried the peas but our server pitched it so well I had to give it a try. Our server was so optimistic, helpful, and sweet! She had great recommendations and she's got so much positive energy!

We arrived on a Saturday around 6:30 p.m. and there was maybe two or three other cars in the parking lot. I know what this usually means when it comes to soul food places and it was Saturday evening but we decided to try it anyway. Staff was semi nice and kept trying to say we could have called and ordered to go but like I told them their website is down and there's no where to see the menu for what selection of desserts are available. And we live 80 miles away. Take the order already lol. Good thing I happen to mention this because the three desserts we asked for were all not available that day including peach cobbler or cheesecake or I can't remember what the third one was but it was a staple for a soul food place. The meals run about $20 per person and we sat at the countertop to wait for our meal. It appears they made them fresh because it took about 20 minutes but I changed my mind once I tasted the food back at the hotel we were staying at. I got the fried chicken meal with mac and cheese yams and the man got fried chicken with shrimp cabbage and mashed potatoes. I pretty much dug in as soon as we get back to the hotel which was maybe 12 to 15 minutes later. The fried chicken was okay but definitely nothing to write home about. The mac and cheese was very dry with no kind of moisture at all so it just made me think that maybe its been sitting there all afternoon. The best part of the meal was the mashed potatoes that I stole from my man's plate. Now here's the bad part when I warmed up the chicken the next day in the oven. I was expecting it to still taste decent but it really tasted like Walmart chicken. I'm just disappointed and this soul food spot that I've been wanting to check out for years but I just haven't got up to this area in Michigan. I wouldn't return or recommend coming up here for it

It's hard to rate a place like this without trying more menu items, but I insist that this is the best catfish Po'boy I've ever had. The service is a little on the slower side because the food is made to order, so don't come here expecting a quick meal on your lunch break unless you call in your order. But the staff is courteous and the dining area is nicer than other soul food restaurants I've been to. I'm kind of glad I don't live closer to Cuppy's, because I would probably gain too much weight from frequent visits. Highly recommend!!!

We were greeted with positive vibes when we walked in. We didn't know we had to order ahead so we waited for our order. The staff seemed like a family. I really loved the vibes they were giving. It was like being with family on day. We ordered the turkey chops, meatloaf and catfish and wings entrees. The sides were Mac and cheese, greens, and yams. The turkey chops were cut up and not in whole pieces. I would of preferred a whole chop. The season was ok, not what I wanted but it was still good. The catfish was flavorful. The meatloaf was the star. It was very delicious. We opted for gravy instead of the bbq sauce topping for the meatloaf. The greens were a little to sweet for my liking, the yams were good. Now the mac and cheese we didn't care for. It was mushy and lacked flavor, but it was cheesy. We will definitely go back and try them again and explore other menu options.

The food here is really Goooood! I had the baked wings with Mac and cheese, baked beans with cornbread. Those wings were so tender and the sauce was great. Staff was very friendly. Clean restaurant.

Back again like a dope fiend. I need my turkey chops!!! This is an honest review. I need my picture up on the wall for best review. Seriously the food,atmosphere, and customer service is top tier top notch and blessed. Thank you Cuppy's for existing. Goodness Gracious

Waitress was very kind and funny. Food came out quick and was delicious. The hoagie was seasoned well as well as the fries.

Friendly home-cooked and overall amazing. Went to lunch for a small birthday party and I will definitely return. Parking easy: a community oriented business that has occasional events.

This place was on my list of places to try so when I visited a friend in the area, I surprised him by treating him to a meal here.Counter and booth style seating. with TVs and great late 70s, 80s & early 90s R&B music playing throughout the establishment. We ordered the Fried Catfish Dinner and the Fried Turkey Chops Dinner with 2 sides each (2-Baked Mac&Cheese, Black Eyed Peas, and Candied Yams). The food was Delicious! In fact, the food was so good that my friend order the Fried Turkey Chops dinner to go with the Baked Mac&Cheese and Candied Yams.Great friendly down home service. They really make you feel good about coming in. Don't be surprised if on your way out you hear "Bye... See you tomorrow!"Oh, and I failed to mention, there is a drive thru window for pickups and ordering. I will definitely be back!!!

My husband and I tried Cuppies because we like southern food. I had mashed potatoes and gravy, cabbage and the fried chicken wings. The mashed potatoes are fake and the gravy is canned, altho the sweet waitress thought it was homemade. My husband had the smothered turkey, mashed potatoes and baked beans. We thought the smothered turkey was dry and way overcooked. The potatoes were a bad example of fake mashed potatoes and the beans were like out of a Campbell soup can..we spend time in the south and this meal does not compare. We spent $49
