Crank's Catering

I hired Cranks for my sons wedding. Paid for a pig roast with all the fan fair along with a dish of beef tips and a dish of cod. I clarified with the chef that the pig would be placed onto the grill and carved. Seems the staff that brought the food tried or did pull a fast one and presented with a tray of pulled pork. Said they had it out and already cut it up. 104 people and not 1 person seen a pig. Also the beef was like rubber and couldn't be eaten. And to top it offthe bbq chicken was burnt. I have called 3 times in over a week and still no response from the owner. Silence. You would think someone would be very concerned about this. Especially since their staff lied and said a dad walked his little girl up to look at the pig. No dad and little girl at the party. So disappointed !!!Beware.

This review has nothing to do with the quality of food or Crank's facilities but is a review of the catering sales representative, John Crank, his business dealings, and how he speaks to his potential customers.Long story short, I spoke to Fieldstone Golf Course about setting up a celebration of life for my mother at their Arrowhead Grille. They referred me to Crank's Catering and provided me with their number. I spoke to a lady who worked at Crank's who was very friendly and accommodating and said that someone would need to check availability and they would get back to me on Monday. She told me it would likely be John.John called me on Monday and told me that Fieldstone GC was open for my requested day, and we began discussing the event order. I told him I would like the BBQ #1 buffet for $19.95 for 30 people. John says that I am looking at the wrong menu and that it is not the pricing for an off-site catering event. He explains that the menu is only for golf outings. John proceeded to tell me that the minimum buffet for a celebration of life would be $26.95 per person plus a $100 per hour room charge. I explained that the menu listed on the Fieldstone GC Weddings and Events does bring up a Golf Outing menu, so it could have been clearer and that I assumed that was the only menu they used at Fieldstone since it came up under Weddings and Banquets. He told me it was the wrong menu and asked if I wanted him to email me the correct off-site catering menu. I said, "Wait a second; I am trying to help you fix this issue." John says, "You don't need to help me fix this; I will call them and get this fixed. We have been with Fieldstone for five years, and this is the first time this has ever happened." I conveyed that was weird, considering the way the information is posted on their website. John exclaims, "I am not lying to you!"I say okay, but I have one question, "Can you tell me why a celebration of life banquet is $7 more per person plus a $100 per hour room charge than a golf outing banquet?" John mentioned something about china versus paper plates, and then just said, "IT JUST IS! We make the food in Shelby, and I can tell you, if we were doing lunches for $19.95 per person, I would be losing money. NOW DO YOU WANT ME TO EMAIL YOU THE CORRECT MENU?"Funny thing about that statement is, that if I had called for the Celebratory Golf Outing of my Mother, John would have gladly done the golf outing buffet for $19.95.Not only is John not doing a great job educating people (especially one's who are dealing with a lost family member) from a pricing perspective, but he is also rude when dealing with potential clients in the manner that he speaks to people and in how he handles his business overall. I am sure he has a successful business, and the food is wonderful from the reviews I read. Unfortunately, the owner is not a person of class or character, so his business is successful despite his own business and decorum deficiencies.I would reconsider working with Cranks Catering; well, at least as long as John Crank is leading their sales efforts for catering.

We used Crank's for a funeral, food was great and the service was awesome. The gentleman that did the set up was professional and prompt.

I had both my son's and daughter's graduation parties catered by Cranks and they never disappoint. The food was delicious, and they supplied generous portions. The servers were courteous and professional. I have also been to several events at the Enchantment Banquet center. They have a gorgeous banquet hall. Again, the food is delicious and in addition to the main courses it includes a multitude of yummy salads, fruit, cheese, etc. I always look forward to a celebration at Enchantment!!!

Another amazing event pulled off by the wonderful staff at Cranks catering! Cranks catered my wedding at an offsite location for a full service dinner. Everything from start to finish was perfect. Cindi in the front office helped with picking out menu choices and more. She was excellent with communication and made booking the catering a stress free process. John Crank was so helpful too, I had silverwear rentals that I had to drop off before my party and he unloaded my entire car for me, he wouldn't let me lift a finger. Tiffany was our event lead, she called me days before the wedding and confirmed all of my final details which gave me peace of mind. Our venue did not allow vendor access until 12PM, Tiffany and her team pulled off a perfect set up in a very tight time frame. It looked magical. The full catering staff was attentive and friendly. Most importantly the food was incredible, my family and friends were raving about the perfectly grilled filet and passed apps! I wish I had pictures of the food to share. Top management (VP of Cranks) even showed up during the dinner service to make sure everything was running smoothly, this made us feel so special. I will forever use Cranks for every event that I need catered!

Super disappointed. The amount of food that they provided us for my grandma's luncheon after her funeral was far from enough. We paid for 40 people and they admittedly only made enough for 20 people. When we asked them about replenishing some of the food they either ignored us or brought out some lame substitute. They only gave us 2 options of pop, some bottled water, and coffee. The quality of the food was adequate. This poor review is not for the quality of the food but for the quantity and for the quality of the service during and after the fact. I think what's worse is when my stepdad went back to discuss the service issues with a manager her was berated and mistreated. I mean, he had just lost his mom for Pete's sake and they treat him like some heathen looking for a handout. He wasn't even looking for a refund. He never even asked. He just wanted an apology or an acknowledgment of poor service but instead he was basically called a liar and belittled by John Crank. This place is a joke. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. You'll thank me later for it.

What can I say our company had our Christmas party catered by them, and everything was DELISCIOUS. Brianna (hope that was her name) was very nice and accommodating, would definitely have Cranks cater our Xmas party again.Anna StanczykLuxit Group

I want to thank the owners and staff at cranks, I have been to this venue many times in last 20+ years for school functions . This past Sunday was my first event that I hosted at the enchantment hall for my daughter's bridal shower.everything was absolutely amazing from the set up to the food and the attention to our needs for the event. I personally want to thank John , Cindy and Gwen for everything they did to make this day special for my daughter and our all of our guests.everyone was happy and amazed at the venue and the attention to detail .thank you from the bottom of our hearts .the maul family

My family and I, will only used Crank Catering! We had my daughter wedding at the beautiful Indian Springs venue, this past weekend. The staff of Karen, Tiffany and Paul , were "on point" with every detail of the day, along with Cindi, our personal planner..........and as expected, the food was off the charts!Thank you Cranks Catering!

Great food, great employees & great management to work with !! I would totally recommend Cranks Catering to anyone for any event. Not only have I dealt with this company personally, but I've also been to other events who had Cranks catered as well; AMAZING everytime!
