Homemade "bumpy cake" for 50th BDay party of a very good friend. I don't like chocolate, but had to try it. Way BETTER than MI original!

I recently ordered 7 dozen cookies for my company's Christmas luncheon. I went with the "small" shaped holiday cookies and good thing I didn't go with the large (lol). They were huge and delicious! They were a big hit and most importantly a success with my boss. Also you can't go wrong with the chocolate poured cake. I highly recommend it. Christine's is a fabulous bakery and well worth a try. Definitely a repeat customer.

We called to order a pie for Thanksgiving, I left a message toPlace the order, the vm said I would receive a call back by 7pm. No call back, so I called again, same vm, same message left with no call back by 7pm again. I had heard great things about the quality of products, but obviously customer service is lacking. I went to Achatz, and got my pies's.

I do love Christine's they have great tasting baked goods. I have always come here for any special occasions we have. A good friend of mines aunt actually owns this business so I hate to leave this as a review but I was pretty disappointed when I picked up my daughter's first birthday pull apart cupcake cake today. The cookies I ordered were perfect but I should've known something was off with the cake because It wasn't really shown to me like they normally do. She brought it to the front and barely flashed it and went and boxed it up. They also handed me extra 2 cupcakes which I was confused by. When I got home and I opened it I couldn't do anything about it since the party was in two hours. This is a first for me here at Christine's. With my other daughter's birthday they had no problems making the cake with exactly 30 cupcakes (there's photos on yelp). They also printed photos of what I asked for that I sent right in front of me and stapled it to my order papers. The only difference was that I wanted brown cow spots instead of black and no fondant cow pieces so just the off white and brown cows spots using the different frosting tips. Not sure who made the decision to do whatever that was but it's obviously not what I asked for or paid for. Two photos as shown are the example of and what I asked for and what I received. Disappointed.

Wow! Highly impressed! This review is for the 2 cakes I was able to sample this weekend. I cannot comment on the service personally, as I did not visit this location. But after sampling 2 cakes from Christine's Bakery, I can tell you that I will be back in the future to purchase some of her amazing creations for my own parties. We attended a double birthday party this past weekend for some very close friends. The wife/mother of the birthday persons purchased 2 cakes from Christine's and couldn't stop raving about how delicious they were. She told me she always gets her celebration cakes from Christine and has never been disappointed, nor has her guests. The one cake for our friend's 50th was the ever so famous "Bumpy Cake", which if you don't know is a famous cake from Sanders in Detroit. This riff on the Detroit classic, may have, in my books, surpassed the original. I don't even like sweets, and especially not chocolate. But for the sake of writing a review, I tried both cakes. And I have to say, if I did like sweets- this would be dangerous for me!! I could see this cake being addictive for some!! It was a chocolate fudge cake made with rich Devil's food cake, a thick center of the most luscious buttercream and finally draped in a delicious fudge icing, crowned with chocolate sprinkles. For as rich as this cake sounds, it surprisingly wasn't. It was just damn good. The buttercream was smooth and rich, the cake was light and oh so moist, the draping of fudge icing was perfection! I see why this is one of the top sellers at this bakery! The other cake for the 13yr old daughter was just as amazing and beautifully decorated. It was the Strawberry Shortcake. It had 3 layers of yellow cake filled with fresh sliced strawberries, iced with whipping cream and garnished with fresh strawberries and white chocolate shavings. If I thought this cake looked delicious- my taste buds confirmed it! It was rich and delicious with super fresh strawberries complimented by a smooth and light buttercream complete with amazing white chocolate. Both cakes, hands down blew me away! I was so thankful that my friend let us take a few slices of each home, so the kids could enjoy them too. They were literally fighting over the last few bites. To say I was impressed with both cakes from Christine's, would be an understatement. I know where I'll be getting my next specialty cake from! Definitely recommend!

One of my long-time favorites from Christine's is their infamous poured cakes/cupcakes! Think bumpy but on a wholeeee other level, with their silky chocolate and smooth buttercream, and chocolate Jimmie's. Their chocolate raspberry, lemon raspberry, and butter pecan cupcakes are also staples I can't leave without! The sugar cookies are always beautifully decorated and chocolate cookie that has a brownie, chewy texture and packed with praline... WOAH. The staff is always pleasant and the bakery is pleasantly decorated and inviting from the moment you walk in.

I have been holding off of changing my review from 5stars to 1 for some time now. I don't know what is happening but the icing on the cakes is not the same. It's lighter in consistency and has less flavor. The yellow icing on the lemon cupcakes were wet (strange I know but I dont know how else to explain it) to the point the icing slid off of the cup cake as I put it to my mouth, then did a very impressive splat when it hit the floor. It was cold too,not room temp. Typically their icing gets firm in the fridge. The cherry and nuts in the cherry nut cupcakes were way over pulverized leaving the cake pink without cherry and nut pieces. The lemon and cherry nut cake were both dry. WHAT IS GOING ON. THIS HAS BEEN MY FAV FOR YEARS BUT EVEN PRE COVID THINGS KEPT CHANGING :,( Christine's used to be the only bakery I used. Their frosting was the best back in the day. Not anymore. Then I read about some of the blunders in customer service. This just can't be the road they are traveling.

So, let's start with this, if a bakery has a line 20 deep at 2:30 PM on a random Saturday (non holiday weekend) they must be doing something right. At least that's what I assumed when I decided to wait in line for some desserts for our family dinner.I must say, everything was amazing, the line makes sense to me now

We love Christine's cakes!! Huge selection, with easy online ordering. My mom was in town for her birthday, and wanted a carrot cake -it was perfect! Then for my son's birthday he wanted a peanut butter torte, and it was also delicious! Great prices too!!

I ordered a plain yellow cake with white smooth frosting. This cake was for my wedding and I planned to decorate the cake stand with fresh flowers. I ordered the cake two weeks prior to the date I needed it for. I was in the shop for (approx) 10-15 minutes with my bridesmaid having a nice conversation with the employee about how much we loved the bakery and we have always gone there for our special events. When my coordinator went in to get the cake the morning of my wedding, the employee (middle aged women with short blonde hair) my coordinator spoke with told her there was no cake ordered and she must have been 'mixed up'. My coordinator gave the description of the cake and every name combination she could think of for the order (my last name, his first name, etc). The employee continued to tell her there was no cake but she could choose one out of the display case that was 'close enough' because they did not have a decorator in to decorate a fresh cake. Finally my coordinator had no other choice but to call my bridesmaid to get a picture of the receipt. When she presented the picture of the receipt to the employee, her only comment was "oh well that's my handwriting, I guess we forgot to make it. You can come back in 30 minutes". There was not an apology for their mistake. When my coordinator finally got the cake it was very obvious that it was the cake from the display case with the decoration removed. (Pictured) Super glad the cake was only a small portion of my wedding. If I ever order from Christine's again, I will be calling multiple times to verify my order.
