I used to go to Chengs back in the 90's when it was on the corner of 6 mile and Southfield. The food used to be pretty good. I stopped by last month, September 2024. Small portions and food was ...... meh. I won't be back.

This place is a staple when I visit Detroit from out of town. My usual choice is the shrimp with lobster sauce. They never disappoint. Not the healthiest food option, but okay to have every once in a while.

Great neighborhood Chinese food. Nothing special, just good food. We've been coming here for years. It's in the neighborhood. They have great Lo-mein, egg rolls and a host of other traditional American Chinese fares. I highly recommend.

Don't listen to the negative reviews. I eat here all the time. The food is excellent and the woman who takes your order is very nice. She is older and there is a bit of a language barrier though, so for the reviewer before me who was complaining about receiving the wrong items, it's probably because you weren't communicating effectively. I've ordered from here probably hundreds of times and she has never once messed my order up.

Nothing at all wrong with Cheng's Garden. The food is good, the portions are large, and the building is clean. I work in the area and frequent this place. My only complaint is that they are not open on Monday's.
