Service: Initial customer service was a bit sketchy but as we continued to talk and once we got our food the staff appeared to be nice and somewhat humorous.Food: Boogaloo was AMAZING 10/10‼Seating: I wish the seating and table was more organized as we sat inside the restaurant to eat. Though I do understand it is designed for to-go ordersExperience: 9/10

Another neighborhood gem! Chef Greg has re-created the almost forgotten Boogaloo sauce that was popularized by Brothers' BBQ fifty, count'm 50, years ago.I like the steak sandwich with a generous serving of Boogaloo sauce. This is not something that can be eaten while driving.I also love the triple-butter peach cobbler. Do not miss it.

if I could give this place, zero stars, I would. The food is horrible the meatloaf, or whatever it was was salty as hell the fish was under season, soft, breaking apart, smelling loud, and the wings had no seasoning. I do not recommend this place at all. please avoid

I ordered the pork chop dinner with macaroni and candied yams. The service was prompt but I did call in my order. The name is fitting, it has soul and ambience is intimate. I would return and definitely adding this location to my favorites!

I saw Greg and his son this morning on Live in the D this morning and new immediately what I was having for lunch today.I had the smothered porkchop dinner with cabbage and chef's veggies. DELICIOUS. Inlike smothered pork chops, but I don't like to cook them...some meals aren't meant to be cooked for one ;-). The cabbage was good, but the mixed veggies were even better - zucchini, squash, peppers, onions and mushrooms. I'll be making this mix myself, too. Put them next to 2 nice size porkchops perfectly fried and I now have a great lunch with enough leftovers for dinner.I'll definitely be back. There are a lot of options on the menu still to try

The chef is one of the friendliest people I've met. The food is solid, but it was the company that made the experience awesome! That special sauce should be bottled! Thanks chef for the swag!

Came on Saturday while visiting from CA to try this place but they were closed. Walked in to see the owner, Chef Greg walking out and he said he had to close down due to a friends death/funeral. I expressed my condolences and we began to talk about life and death, grief and purpose, and how we treat one another. He started tearing up and could tell he was grieving for his friend. He talked about his dads death and it hit home as I lost my dad earlier this year. It was very surreal and random, yet it was a heart to heart between two strangers who crossed paths experiencing loss. Could not speak about the food but the man was authentic and real, so Im sure that would have been reflected in his food. I look forward to coming back to eat at Chef Gregs next time Im in Detroit

I had the original Boogaloo sandwich. It was so delicious!!! No way I could finish it in one sitting. And the red beans and rice were so good. We went early, before the lunch crowd, and got to hear some great history about the area and the boogaloo sandwich. A fun and delicious experience!!
