Captain Jay's Fish & Chicken

I stopped here on my way to my family's event to grab some fish. It is located off of Evergreen in a plaza. There is eating, but most seem to do take out. I tend to go to another place and this was the first time i've come here. I saw that was close to where my destination was gonna be. The young lady behind the counter was very friendly and took my order quickly. She even regularly updated me on when my order was gonna be done. I checked out the desserts that you could and some of the sides. There is cake, peach cobbler, cole slaw and other sides. The fish was good and very well seasoned. I also had a shrimp, and that was also pretty tasty too. I will definitely plan on visiting this spot in the future when I'm in the area. .

Captain Jays never disappoints. They fry their chicken well and it's delicious. They have always been our dinner back up when we don'T want to cook. My only concern is to quit using those small chickens. Get bigger chicken wings please.

When you say "Crack chicken" everyone knows you are talking about Captain Jays! Once you eat you always want to go back! You must tell them to put the lemon pepper seasoning on it too! This place has several locations, I happen to pop at the one in Southfield. I will say always call in advance to order. These are whole wings that you getting and the crunch factor is on point! The shrimp is not over breaded so you can taste the shrimp! You have your choice of the regular pop, Faygo and kool aid just like home! I didn't really get a chance to take a pic of the food because I went to town as soon as I got it! Lol! The staff at this location was nice I had no complaints. See ya when I come back home!!!

Captain Jay's Evergreen location neat and clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. A bit of a wait but worth it as everything seems to be cooked to order. Chicken with lemon pepper was crispy and juicy. Cod was terrific. A great spot for lunch. Captain Jay's.... Permission to come aboard sir!

This place was a pure disappointment. I guess you can only get things to go even tho they have a dining room. Also, you can not get a fork or a knife, only a spork. I had fish, so eating with a spork is a challenge. The food was at best ok.

Food was fresh, hot and good! Service was A1, I was very impressed and will come back. They'll staff even accommodated me getting my order quickly so I wasn't late for work.

The customer service is the worst ever at these places. Ordered a pan of 50 wings for the Super Bowl, call prior to going to make sure they will be ready. Get there and tell them my name then the girl asks for my number, then asks if I have a different number. She finally finds it and tells the young dreaded/braided guy to ring me up, he rings me up for 100 wings, I tell him I ordered 50, he's looking clueless. The girl tells him and he fixed it. The kitchen staff if trying to figure out what's needed and they're thoroughly confused, I yell 50 wings! They send the pan out to the girl, she asks if I want lemon pepper and I say yes please. She boxes the wings and I get home with them for guests. Open the box, no lemon pepper on the damn wings ! I go back the day after to get lemon pepper the young girl working there wants to give me 3 small sparsely filled containers, I say I still have over 30 wings! X she asks what size I want, tell her enough for the 50 wings they missed, she goes in the back and comes out wanting to ring me up for $10!! I paid $69 for the 50 wings!!! Why in hell would I pay them another 10?!!Save your money and come the wings yourself. I've been to 5 different locations over time hoping for different results, but clearly it's insanity at this point!! Never no more!!

Very good fresh chicken and fish. Have them sprinkle some lemon pepper seasoning right after it comes out and it will provide you with outstanding flavor. The chicken was hot, fresh, juicy and tender

In the past my husband has patronized this business. We live around the corner, frequent the Summer concerts on the Civic Center lawn and order food for at least 6-8 ppl. On the first day of Fall we ordered 20 wings ...that's it...20 whole wings. We sat in the parking lot for the 15 minutes it was supposed to take to fry our wings...went inside and the idiots told us that they lost our order slip! Wait! What? That was enough to make us never-ever patronize this restaurant again! Why do we operate at such a sub-par level. I expect more and demand more!!!!

Always good food, usually get the chicken tenders with fries combos. Typically pretty quick if order ahead of time.
