Incredible bakery. Cannot recommend the pistachio chocolate croissant enough. Fantastic assortment of cakes, pastries, sandwiches, etc. Feels like a real French cafe. My new weekend sweet spot.

When hubby and I pulled into the lot for Cannelle Patisserie I was so excited and also amazed at the expansion of the patisserie, with its quaint out door patio and high tables set along windows offering a wonderful view of delicate, sweet and savory pastries. Our visit was to purchase chocolate and almond croissants, but there were plenty more tempting offerings. I wanted one of everything but hubby had to break the spell and he placed our order for the croissants, a chocolate raspberry cake(beautiful) and another chocolate wonder that tasted like expresso. Being surrounded by such wondrous pastries I kind of expected to be serviced with warm welcoming smiles... didn't happen... such a difference from the downtown Detroit location. Oh well, hubby and I were happy with our purchase.

This place is really expensive and not very good. The bacon and Gruyère croissant was not worth the price paid and didn't look anything like the photo on the website. It seemed to be filled with bacon bits and not actual bacon. The cinnamon roll/slice was bland and tasted stale. The chai was also flavorless and a waste of money. The only two things that were good were the macarons and the canele. Service was also mediocre.

Came to order pastries for a meeting that was coming up later in the day. Friday 6:30am and there were plenty of people sitting down having coffee with pastries already. But it was quiet and did not have to wait at all to get the pastries that I wanted for work.Regardless, pastries here do come with price tags. Got dozen pastries and paid almost $90. They do charge credit card transaction fee. However, pastries are really yummy and also heavy. Very much recommended for the events where you need to impress people. Also recommended for self treat occasionally, not often.

MUST TRY ‼This place is magical to say the least. They create the absolute best pastries, breads, and desserts I have ever had. This place easily rivals any bakery you've ever tried. My must try's are any of the savory croissants and the chocolate crouquant! The crouquant may not be the most beautiful thing in the case but it's absolutely amazing and was recommended to me by multiple employees. Additionally this place during the holidays looks straight out of a cute hallmark movie. It is cozy and the staff goes above and beyond. Seriously try it.

I've gotten croissants from Cannelle three or four times at various farmer's markets and coffee shops around the area and have never been very impressed. The pastries here look absolutely scrumptious but the construction and techniques used leave a lot to be desired. I figured that I should probably try the original location to get the freshest and best croissants before I give my final judgement. It turned out pretty similar to what I have had previously.Almond Croissant ($5.50) - This is a twice baked almond croissant and I'm not sure why they don't specify it on the tag. It's dusted with powdered sugar and almond slices, with some frangipane baked hard on top. The lamination here is very poor, resulting in thick layers that stick together. This makes a croissant that is very dense and bready rather than light, fluffy and buttery. The interior does have a layer of almond paste that kind of melds into the croissant and is a bit hard to detect. The paste is on the gummy side. The croissant overall is very sweet and that's pretty much the defining taste. Galette Des Rois Slice ($6.00) - I didn't know what this was and had to ask (I've only seen New Orleans-style King Cakes before). It was explained to me as croissant dough sandwiching an almond paste. This pastry is very heavily almond flavored, which matches the promise. Once again, the croissant layers are quite doughy and tough. The almond paste is about half inch thick and is a bit gummy. Tastes good though, very sweet and almond-forward!My previous purchases involved the normal baked croissants, and I've always found that Cannelle overbakes them, resulting in a croissant that 's more crunchy than fluffy. I've also gotten a baguette from them once that I found to be extremely over salted - in fact it's the only baguette in recent memory that I couldn't finish because it was so difficult to eat.To be clear, the croissants at Cannelle aren't bad, they just don't seem to be as technique driven as bakeries with more traditional croissants. Considering that their logo includes the instagram symbol, it seems like they target that crowd with pastries that look really nice, but aren't necessarily the highest quality. Then again there are not a lot of bakeries in Metro Detroit that serve specialty croissants, so Cannelle is still an okay place to visit if you have that croissant craving.

Excellent. First the pastries are fresh and delicious. There is a huge selection and everything I've tried has been great!Secondly, the sandwiches are also quite tasty. There is not a huge sandwich menu, just a few choices but the ingredients taste uber-fresh and high-quality. The bread is just right.Thirdly, they have a La Marzocco espresso machine that they know how to properly use. If you know, you know...The value is also respectable.Way to go Cannelle!

I stopped during the week for a coffee and cinnamon roll. The coffee is good. The cinnamon roll is excellent. The cinnamon roll is made with the buttery, croissant dough (yum). Plenty of cinnamon. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Yummm.Cannelle has my favorite croissant . The pastry display is always amazing. This location is so charming. It is my favorite Cannelle location. They have expanded it over the years, but it is small for the amount of business. It also tends to get loud. The service is excellent. They are friendly and accommodating. In the winter there are not enough inside tables. It can hit or miss if there is a table available. For that reason, I don't think it is great for work.

This is for the location at the Royal Oak Farmers Markets. Please let me know if I should move this but currently I don't see a listing for that oneHad 3 different pastries, all were average to below average. They looked beautiful enough, instagram worthy, but as soon as I touched and bit into them, I could tell they were not made that day. Time had eroded the flakes of the black and blueberry into a soggy cold lump. The cinnamon roll was dry. Shame because I wanted to like them and I wanted my mouth and stomach to appreciate what my eyes did. I could see the potential. Sad I wasted that much money (~$7 each!) only to leave me wanting for a better pastry. The ham and cheese was the only acceptable one of the bunch. Maybe they were meant to be brought home to be reheated? If that's the case I should have been forewarned

3.5 stars. The coffee was decent and the chicken sandwich was really good. However, they were out of eggs which is the main ingredient in many of their sandwiches. Staff was very friendly and relaxing ambiance.
