Been here in SW for a while, but I never tried it. I'm glad I did tonight. Hands down best Charro Beans I've had in a restaurant!! Chunks of chorizo and bacon, Jalapeno's, tomato, cilantro and onion floating around. Amazing. Horrible part is they charge an extra $1.25 for them. Sigh. I knew when I saw the upcharge they had to be good, and they were. The building doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is Fantastic once you enter. High ceilings, industrial brick, old time photos, spider plants in large windows, wooden tables made from tree planks and large heavy sturdy wooden chairs. Shiny and varnished offer all the decorations you need. Large art pieces decorate the walls, with pendant lighting Now for The food. Presented well. Smelled great. Hand made tastiness!! Charro beans are amazing, the rice was good. The BIRRIA Is too tasty, savory and tender in a rich broth decorated with onions The pastor was charred beautifully with little charred onion bits of goodness. The tortillas are either handmade or super high quality, both the flour and corn were amazing. I ordered the Camino Real Special and it was decorated with Pico De Gallo, Guac, Radish, Lime and a charred Jalapeño. Only complaints are, Chip basket was small and only came with 1 salsa.

This Mexican restaurant is off the beaten path - meaning it's not on the main drag of Mexican Town. Hubby and I tend to like these restaurants better and that was the case with Camino Real. This restaurant is easy to find and has a private parking lot. We were surprised at how large the building is - lots of seating. We were seated right away and we were served complimentary chips and salsa quickly. We really liked the flavor of the mild sauce. It was a little too mild so we asked for some hot to add to it. Definitely a good cilantro salsa. For lunch, I ordered a meal with three corn tacos, rice and beans. I choose a chicken, pork, and chorizo taco. The chicken was a little dry and bland. I enjoyed the chorizo but the pork was my favorite!! So flavorful. I also enjoyed the rice and beans. This meal was also priced well too. I think it was $7.50. Hubby order a California burrito with steak. It had French fries in it - which I thought sounded really odd. He said it was really good - the steak had good flavor and the ingredients inside were very complimentary. We would go here again! It's been added to our list of go to Mexican places in Detroit!

TACO IN A HOUSE I SAYGreat.. Very beautiful inside and out with super brickwork, half old house with cut out into large open kitchen and dining area. Taco's are 50 percent larger than the Taco trucks and Los Alto's for a $ 1.25 each I so love them Al Pastor and the Pollo loaded with onions and cilantro. Lots of salsa and a smooth flavored hot sauce along with sliced radishes and limes. I do miss the guac sauce from Los Altos. They have a very limited menu with Quesadillas, Taco, and Torta's a very good sandwich made on homemade bread for only $ 4. This summer they'll open an outside eating area built on beautiful stone pavers. May be hard to find I-75 and Springwells go one block up and turn right on the corner of Central and Lafayette. Really easy on and off the freeway. Think of this as the Pollo Chapin of Taco's with house and all. Oh yea the seats and tables are all thick loggers style heavy made which look really cool. No alcohol yet, waiting on license.

I hate to complain, but this was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant in my life! I came with a group of 5. We were sat immediately, however, we waited 45 minutes to an hour for our food to come out cold. Then, my order was completely wrong. Toppings were missing, the food was still cold. I asked for the manager, which was no help. She couldn't do anything. They don't care about their customers they just care about getting your money. Needless to say, I won't ever be back here again. I like a business that actually care about their customers and treat them like they're important. I will take my money where it's appreciated. The last time I came it was ok, but I've heard from other people that it's always a hit or miss; they're never consistent. Ella no podía hacer nada.

The marinated pork is just heavenly good. Horchata is home made! Tacos are amazing. So far what I have tried was a-ma-zing! I'd recommend to anyone!Their service is fast and every time very sweet.Sundays morning and noon can be little busy.

Quite authentic! A neighborhood gem. Shared lunch quesadilla- cheese, along with beef , cheese enchiladas. Both came with rice and beans. Ample portions and so fresh tasting. Was ready for a margarita- but this location doesn't serve them, only Wyandotte has em. Great patio- decent service !more than ok chip and salsa ! I'd go back !

Great find big Al P. Camino Real is a taqueria in a beautiful converted house seconds away from the I-75 Springwellls exit. I had a 3 Taco dinner ($5.75) with 1 Choirizo, 1 Al Pastor, and 1 Steak. My daugter has the Chicken Quesadillas ($6.50). The tacos and quesadillas were huge, and well spiced. The meat was a tiny bit overcooked and chewy, but still delicious. The rice and charro beans were perfect. The service was excellent, and the waitstaff were very attentive and ahem, easy on the eyes. They lose a star for no chips and salsa, but given the size of the meal, I did not miss them too much. Folks, this is one newcomer to watch.

Food was ok, but I will be damned if i ever again order ceviche tostadas that are served with a drizzle of ketchup on top and a liberal dollop of mayonnaise on the bottom. This ain't McDonald's. Carnitas taco wasn't anything to write home about. I will be back and will update accordingly. Alambres was good, steak and pork covered in cheese, but it would seem hard to mess that up. Service was meh.

I had high hopes, and Camino Real didn't disappoint. The food was very good and the service was great. The outdoor patio, with a to-go taco grill, looks promising for a few summer lunches. Along with the standard chips and salsa, I was also given a cup of soup. Chicken with thin noodles and vegetables, really hit the spot on a cold snowy day. That was a good thing since the salsa certainly didn't hit the spot. It literally had no flavor. I don't understand how that even happens. The exact opposite of the salsa, my taco dinner was great and packed with flavor. I had the chicken (Yelper recommended) and the al pastor. Both in soft corn shells we hot, fresh and delicious with a little heat. Rice, beans, radish, and a roasted pepper and I had a great lunch. If they fixed the salsa and turned up the heat in the dining room a little, it might have been a 5 star lunch. I'll definitely be back.
