Calixto Mexican Grill

This place is cute but small. I managed to snag the last of about 8 tables. I was greeted immediately as soon as I entered. My waiter was super nice and sweet. I ordered the quesabirria, chips and guacamole and horchata. No free chips here! Prices very but are reasonable . I hadn't planned on drinking which was good because they do not serve alcohol. Horchata was very good! Haven't had it but maybe one other time so not sure if it would be considered good horchata compared to others but it was very delicious to me, so creamy and cinnamon! Chips and guacamole were insanely good, I just wish my chips were warm, that would have really set it off. But they were crispy and fresh . The quesabirria tacos were the best I've had, the meat was seasoned well and flavorful as was the birria soup. I stuffed myself silly, everything was so good smh! Only misstep was on my end, I took a bite of the grilled jalapeño on my plate; I like jalepenos but omg my mouth was on FIRE for a good 15 minutes afterwords. This place is super popular, the flow of people coming in for carry out orders was non-stop while I was there.

Very good food. If you want Tex-Mex or Mexican style food they do it all. I got tacos the traditional way in pollo, asada and camaron. Prices are reasonable, the sour cream and salsa verde were excellent and the inside of the restaurant is also very vibrant and worth eating inside vs doing take out. I came on my lunch break, and despite it being busy they got my order to me relatively quickly so their staff is on top of it.

Didn't have high hope coming here but wow was I surprised!! Everything we ordered was amazing and flavorful! I could just eat their guac alone and I'd be happy! Staff is very sweet and welcoming, we're happy to have found a good Mexican restaurant close to home, saves us a trip to Mexicantown! 100% recommend eating here!!

Very good food and absolutely authentic Mexican selections! Lots of choices and as good as anything you can get in Mexican Village downtown! Clever non fancy decor, friendly and helpful staff! This place does get busy and we have been back several times already! Took a larger group of friends there too and family. Great FRESH Guacamole and best Taco Salad I may have had ever. This place also has a great area to eat outside when Michigan weather permits.

The roast pork tacos are a must order. Vary friendly and easy to order and no long wait. Next time I am in the area I'll be making a few stops

The food is amazing! Very Authentic and fresh! The Service is also 5+ stars. The inside dining is small but they are so accommodating and will help with whatever is needed! There is also a PATIO!!

Quesadilla, absolutely awful. I walked in and thought fast casual Mexican, how good can it be? The picture says it all. Extremely undercooked, they got the order wrong and the brought the food to the wrong table. Excuse all that and the last was just gross. I almost never leave bad reviews, you can see my history, but this one truly deserved it. New operation, no care to the detail, soggy wet quesadilla, truly uneatable. I also got a kids quesadilla for my son, it came out a little better, but still so undercooked and rushed, and it took a very long time to receive it. French fries also doggy and undercooked. Hope they improve.

I love this place! Food fantastic and service is fantastic! I would love it if they had tostadas. Tried the churros today and they were great.

Great customer service! I ordered carryout and they made sure my order was correct. I spoke with Enrique and he shared how they prepare the carnitas: baked! My husband enjoyed the carnitas tacos lunch special. I had the quesabirria with consomé, and it was delicious. Arroz y frijoles were on point. Our entrees were served with grilled onions, fresh radishes and cucumbers, and lime wedges. We'll be back!

Food is awesome and so is the service. I highly recommend eating here. This place serves the best tacos I've had since leaving California.
