Aditi Y. "We went there a day after thanksgiving and good that we had reservations coz this was definitely a busy place that night.. the ambience is very cozy and they also had live Italian music too.. food was great too.. between the 3 of us we ordered the wine special they had, caprese salad, pear Gorgonzola salad and penne con vedura something pasta.. all 3 items were great.. we also liked the bread basket they got initially and seems a lot of people had mentioned they liked that too.. For desert we ordered the tiramisu which is homemade, definitely not a disappointment.. it's very rare I like tiramisu and their's is definitely high up on my list..We will surely try to come here again, it's a good sit down restaurant"

Scott O. "We'd heard this place is nice. It's beyond that. Nicest venue in the Detroit area in my opinion. From a friendly greeting from valet parking, to host, seating, and service. It was wonderful. This is a 130 year-old mansion with numerous rooms on three levels. Perfect for special occasions or date night. If it's your first time here, they offer a free guided historical tour (do tip) and we'd recommend that. Ghost bar on third floor is cool.We were seated in the formal dining room. It was wonderful. There is a secret room off to the side here. See if you can find it.Service was perfect. Maddie gets an A+ for sure. Staff is obviously very well trained. A very well managed place. Manager stopped by twice. Nice guy. Very professional. We had the Beef Wellington. It was delicious. Nice portions too. Sides and bread were delicious too. Prices are reasonable for what they deliver.Enter off Woodward. Drive slowly - easy to miss the entrance. Use valet as other parking costs as much in area. Very happy we visited this spot. I hear Sunday brunch is fantastic. We'll be back."

It's huge inside and there are plenty of televisions making this a great spot to watch a sporting event. We were here for a fundraiser. There is a large private room that we were able to use. We ate buffet style and everything was delicious! Definitely recommend the fried chicken. We had a waitress, bur mostly got our beers from the bar. They had a great beer selection to choose from. I am sure we will back to watch a game!"

Liz W. "Meh.Not nearly as good as I remembered.Went in on a busy Sunday. Wanted comfort food after weeks of summer salads and sandwich type fare. I guess you have to stick to the main specialties. What we chose was not cutting it.First off, they do not let you pick sides with a dish you are spending over 25 bucks on. My veal was good, not great, and I was bitter with the hard veggies that accompanied it. The mixed veggies would not have been my pick at any rate. The redskins would have been but were still undercooked. I would have been thrilled to get options of mashed potatoes or sauced up dumplings. As it was, it was plentiful, but I did not feel like it was good value due to the underdone side dishes with no option given to me to change. My husband got the cheaper breaded pork chops and because he balked at veggies, they offered HIM to pick another side. He went with dumplings. Sadly, they were served cold. Pork chops were tasty til he got bone shards in one of his bites. Yuck. We packed up and left. We got to go for the old people. They were happier than us. Thank god. Apparently, the chicken paprikash and access to a microwave are a match made in heaven.I won't be back."

Linda I. "Solid spot for some classic nosh! Pretzel Bell has some history in Ann Arbor that I know I don't fully appreciate myself, but know there's a lot of nostalgia associated with it. Had a good margarita and crunchy bird (chicken) sandwich with tots. I asked for a side of ranch and I think their ranch is probably homemade, it was tasty and unique. Dining atmosphere is more elevated than just casual dining. Feels a bit like a sports club. There's also a bar downstairs in the basement, and food service down there as well, but I don't like going down there anymore because my last two times I got sick. (I think just due to it being a popular spot - lots of people and maybe not the best air ventilation/circulation in the basement.)"

The spice was perfect and the portions were enormous. Our friends had lasagna and shrimp with garlic and oil. They said theirs was delicious as well. Freshly baked breadsticks were yummy as well. The service was exceptional. It was pretty empty in the restaurant, not sure why because the food is amazing. Very reasonable prices as well. Definitely would come back when in the area."

This is the only place in the United States where you can enjoy this Belgian game. You roll balls down a lane and try to get them as close to the feather as possible. It's similar to bocce ball, but better. The food here is delicious. The mussels are phenomenal! I also enjoyed my sausage, cabbage, and spinach mashed potatoes. They have their own large free parking lot, which is so nice. This place is a must try."

Annette J. "My goddaughter had just had her first dance recital and our crew that came to cheer her on wanted to treat her to a celebratory ice cream. I'm not super familiar with the east side but my friends said Gilbert's was the perfect place for a group, including three kids. Why? Their menu is huge, the tables are huge, and it's a casual enough place that a group could possibly get a little rowdy without getting side eyes from others. So to Gilbert's we went! We ended up sitting in the front covered porch/patio. Goddaughter and her twin brother went directly to the bumpy cake sundae on the menu. The rest of the table ordered more savory items like some sharable apps and then full meals. My mom and I had dinner started back at her house so we passed on the full meal but we definitely indulged in more than a few bites of their soft pretzels and loaded waffle fries. Both were quite good (tho with all the cheese, bacon, etc on the loaded fries it was not exactly good FOR you tho, haha). We enjoyed both so much we kept on snacking and before we knew it we were full. So much for the dinner we had planned! The kids loved their sundaes, which were almost as big as their heads, and overall we had a really lovely time. Our waitress was super kind and patient (bless her for rolling with the children who were now hyped up on sugar). The kids also loved watching the train running around on an elevated track near the ceiling, also a fun touch). If you're looking for a spot for a casual dinner with a group, kid friendly fare, and/or a expansive menu, Gilbert's might be the place for you."

My friend ordered the Dinty corned beef sandwich that looked awesome. Even though we ordered the food to go I had to sample everything while finishing my cocktail. I definitely recommend going there and I've already told three people about what a great place it is."

We remembered David from the Sardine Room too. We started off with cocktails. I tried the hibiscus margarita. It was so pretty with a black salt rim and tasted great. My husband ordered a non-alcoholic Paloma. Nice that they have options for everyone. For dinner, we ordered the ahi tuna, Chilean seabass, mushrooms, and carrots. The fish dishes were great. My husband's seabass was perfect. The carrots were roasted with hot honey and feta. My favorite side dish! The mushrooms were good but would have paired better with a steak. For dessert, my husband ordered the snickerdoodle cocktail and I enjoyed a glass of Prosecco. Great date night!"

Ebenezer's Anni L. "This is a review of the Havana Nights fundraiser for the Detroit Belle Isle Boathouse. It seems to be an annual event. The Roostertail is the perfect place for it. Lots of parking, 3 prices depending on how close to the building you are. I got the closet since the boat club gets a cut. Open space for lots of people and even different levels to spread out based on your level of ticket (I got the cheapest). A few bands or DJs, dance lessons, and even a 360 photo booth gave you other things to do besides drink and smoke cigars. Those with the cheap tickets had a few food trucks to buy a taste of the Caribbean. People selling jewelry, bath and body items, and a wonderful artist selling paintings, shoes and clothing. Just a good place to people watch and see how little some had to wear in public. I just choose to be 1950s classic with a twist. Plan to be back next year since it was fun and help a good cause."

Everything from start to finish was perfect. Cindi in the front office helped with picking out menu choices and more. She was excellent with communication and made booking the catering a stress free process. John Crank was so helpful too, I had silverwear rentals that I had to drop off before my party and he unloaded my entire car for me, he wouldn't let me lift a finger. Tiffany was our event lead, she called me days before the wedding and confirmed all of my final details which gave me peace of mind. Our venue did not allow vendor access until 12PM, Tiffany and her team pulled off a perfect set up in a very tight time frame. It looked magical. The full catering staff was attentive and friendly. Most importantly the food was incredible, my family and friends were raving about the perfectly grilled filet and passed apps! I wish I had pictures of the food to share. Top management (VP of Cranks) even showed up during the dinner service to make sure everything was running smoothly, this made us feel so special. I will forever use Cranks for every event that I need catered!"

It was a huge middle eastern meal, served family style, with several dishes, as well as delicious pastries for dessert to cap off the evening. Everything was amazing. We are definitely impressed! The pastries are so good.. the potatoes and chicken dishes also were five star! The ambiance was nice, very attractive, if a bit overloaded on the glitz.. but it was very pretty with the lighting, chandeliers, mirrors, gold chivarri chairs and spacious seating. The servers were super nice. The only drawback was some of the valet parking attendants were kinda scattered and disorganized and they took an inordinately long time to locate guests' cars.
