"With Polonia next door it's the battle of the pierogies! While Anthony Bourdain did indeed go to Polonia and sang its praises legend has it Polish Village Café was tapped first but with the narrow stairs leading to the cellar/basement level they were not able to get their filming equipment down there. To summarize my point of the dueling pierogies story my friends is this: Don't miss out on Polish Village Café! Try both places and you will get an accurate comparison of Polish cuisine. Similar yet different. I want to say the 4 of us ladies got phenomenal service from Alexis. She made great suggestions, was prompt, and was able to make a few modifications for my pickier friends. We started with the soup. Dill pickle for my friends and beet for me. This was some of the best beet soup I've ever had. My Polish babcia would make her beet soup and thicken it with sour cream. Other than my grandma I've never had a thickened and creamy beet soup until here. Dill pickle soup was also great with a tangy but not overpowering pickle taste. Wanting to sample a variety and also wanting leftovers I went with the pick 3 meat plate (city chicken, chicken livers, and fresh Polish sausage). Wow talk about a menagerie of food. The sausage alone was enough to feed 2-3 people. They put a beer gravy over the top which is something I've never had but it works. Chicken livers were deep-fried and slightly on the salty side but dipping them in the extra beer gravy proved to be a wise choice. City chicken was just as I remembered from before. Whatever breading they use somehow manages to stay in place but you still get the tender juicy flavor from the pork and veal that shines through. All four of us had enough food left over for lunch the next day. Prices are more than reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get. I'm excited to be living in the Detroit area again and will be able to satisfy my Polish food cravings whenever the urge hits!"
"Great breakfast spot. Lots of savory & sweet options pending on your mood. Food was good and since it wasn't super busy at the time food came out quickly. Staff was nice. Since the inside is kind of small, I assume it can be pretty busy during peak times and on the wknd. Definitely want to come back to try more of the many delicious looking items on their menu."

"Basement Burger Bar is one of my longtime favorite burger spots. They offer great food with the ability to easily customize your order. Just to note, it's in the basement and there is no elevator."
"The good thing about this place is definitely the taste of the burger, and they have a small but OK craft beer menu. I had the tropical burger with beef and no bacon, and I found it to be pretty good although a little messy. That just happens with a burger with pineapple, though. However, I thought the price was a little high for such a smallish burger and no fries. And as mentioned, the beer selection was OK. Nothing super but it's nice to have decent beers as an option. My biggest problem with this place though was the seating. Very cramped and awkward. You have to practically move into your neighbor's lap before you can slide into your own seat at some of the tables. That alone means I'm unlikely ever to return, which is a bummer as I did enjoy the burger."
"Absolutely phenomenal service and the food is the best in town. It was my boys' first time trying chicken shawarma sandwiches. They couldn't stop complimenting how good it was, and they ate it up quick! It was a very busy Friday evening, and I had left without grabbing part of my takeout order. I called to let them know, and Sam sent a guy to my house to deliver it! I even offered to come back and get it, but he insisted. Just goes to show that these guys really care for their customers. I've been here many times before, and this is just one example of how their excellent service compliments their amazing food!"
"If I could leave more stars I would. The Fries & shine are phenomenal! I also tried the Peanut Burger. That is one unique tasty burger. Jessica's service is top notch. I'm in town for work and will definitely be back!!"
"Not the same! Ok, but it used to be amazing. Bring back the old recipe for the Africano!"
"My friend recommended this place for us to eat from the previous reviews and it met our expectations! The place was nice, neat, and cutely decorated for the holidays. We also appreciated the private parking lot over street parking. My friend had the The Breast Chicken Parm Sandwich and I had the Serious Beef Sandwich. We also got drinks from the fridge, I had a yummy cherry soda and she had a refreshing coconut water. We loved our sandwiches and were able to have it as leftovers. I will say mine was very fragrant, soggy probably from the juices, and a little messy to eat. None of which bothered me but just to note!"
"We moved to the area 10 days ago and have ordered from Graceland King Gyro 5 times (no joke!) in those 10 days! Have not tried the pizza yet, but gyro, shawarma, falafel, grape leaves, hummus, and both kinds of baklava are all top notch. Service with a friendly smile, and very reasonable prices for what you get. We're glad they're just down the road!"
"I've been here several times over the years and it is one of my favorites sushi spots. The sushi chef is wonderful. Every visit I ask for the freshest sashimi and let him pick it out for me. Every time I am impressed. I also love their kimchee and their hot tea. I always leave full and happy."
"After years away it's fun to revisit A2 institutions, especially Fleetwood Diner. The joys of Hippie Hash, coming here buzzed after the Blind Pig concerts, or popping in around 4:30am when the place is trashed and the employees are hanging out smoking. That was then, now there's a new(er) family owning it, and subtle changes to the menu point to Middle Eastern influences. As such, I sat down at the counter one morning during my visit and tried the gyro hippie hash and it was excellent. Eggs cooked a perfect over-medium, hashbrowns lurked under the chopped meat and minced broccoli, topped with feta cheese. Big yum! It's still tight and intimate inside. A family sat next to me at the counter, so that was fun. Everyone was friendly and watching the cooks work magic in tight quarters was interesting. Come for the experience, and enjoy the classic menu."
"Loved everything about this place. The food, the service, the cleanliness. Everything tasted super fresh and everyone working there was so friendly. Have already recommended it to a few people and will be back when I'm in town again!"

Great hidden jewel in the once Polish town of Hamtramck. Varied menu of your standard Polish plates. Some of the courses are with a twist like the Potato Pancakes with goulash on top. Pancakes were with a kick, they were spicy, and the plate would feed any man. We came on Sunday at noon and the place was humming with guests. Highly recommend coming in for some Polish food.

Wow I haven't been here in years but so glad I came back! Decided to grab breakfast with my brunch buddy and knew I needed to order something sweet. I settled on the Bananas Foster French Toast with a side of bacon and she went savory with the West Coast Crepe. WOW WOW WOW. I love everything banana and this literally hit the flavor profile out of the park! The French toast was so delicious and the bananas and roasted pecans were so good. I ate every last bite and would definitely come back and eat it again. The restaurant is small so be prepared for a weekend wait. I only waited 10 mins or so this visit but it can be longer. Not the best place for big groups either.

The burgers here are always fantastic, and I love the endless options for customization--it's so much fun to build exactly what you're craving. Whether you want classic toppings or something more adventurous, they've got you covered, and the flavor never disappoints! Unfortunately, the cocktails are very hit or miss, and honestly, drinks leave a lot to be desired. I tried what seemed to be their take on a spicy margarita, and it ended up tasting like watered-down Koolaid with a splash of alcohol--not great. If you're coming, I'd say skip the drinks and focus on the burgers. That said, if you're looking for a place that has both amazing burgers and delicious cocktails, you might be able to find a better option elsewhere.

Amazing service! I honestly don't think I have seen one server be a host, run takeout orders, communicate to the back of the house, and take care of 5-6; and doing it all WELL.We got two entrees with rice and salad, and a side of hummus. It all tasted great and the portions were enough to feed 4 people easily... it was just two of us though. The restaurant very clean.

If you want to wait out the crowds and traffic getting out of downtown, make this your go to stop for a great burger after the game. We put our names in expecting a 30 min wait. Our table was ready in 5 mins. The place was busy but well-staffed. Our server wasn't the greatest but the food made up for it. Build you own burger, shake, appetizer. The menu is small but the customizations are incredible! We chowed down and enjoyed every single bite. Full bar and it was packed. We caught the end of the game on their many TVs so every seat in the place wouldn't miss a min. It's very loud and bright in the dining area. Great casual atmosphere with a lot of energy.

Wanted to update and add another review for Peepo's now that they've opened a location in Canton! This new location is fantastic since I'm in Ann Arbor. I had no problem going down to Taylor, don't get me wrong, but the ease of Canton is nice too! The same great menu and staff are at this new location and I couldn't be happier. The one thing I always is the Afrikano fries but made vegetarian with falafel! You can't go wrong. They're so crispy, fully loaded, spicy and their sauce makes it cooler. Perfection.Make sure you top into their new location or visit the OG location in Taylor. You won't be disappointed!

I've heard SO many good things about this sandwich place and I'm so glad to have finally tried it. The free parking lot was a nice surprise so I didn't have to worry about street parking. My friend and I ordered the chicken parm and italian beef sandwich which came out quickly. The chicken cutlet was crispy, fresh, and topped with rich mozzarella. I loved the extra side of marinara that came with mine- I just wish the sandwich came precut but not a big deal! The portion sizes are HUGE so it was nice to have leftovers for dinner.

"This place is straight up awesome. Food is excellent. I ordered the California burrito and it was fantastic. See my photo to see what it looks like and what's in it. if you want legit tasting food go to Senoritas. The inside is nice and cool."
"The 5 stars came from my daughter!!!! Her bacon cheeseburger and fries were perfection. This is what you want if you're craving a burger, fries and PEPSI . The restaurant is very clean, well kept and staff is nice. All food made fresh. It's a burger joint how you want it. I'll definitely come back"
"I mean the food was pretty good on and off the past few years. But holy cow look at that spam musubi. Inflation must have hit the spam market pretty hard. Just make them at home yourself."
"I'm sure I have reviewed them before but this a during COVID review lol! There is only one thing that I can say about this restaurant and that is "It is always on point!" This is one of my favorite places to grab food from even through all of this COVID mess. The food is good and the service is always served with a smile and quick. This time I got a take out order because their dine in service was closed due to COVID(lack of staff). If you have never been here you can miss it because it's tucked back in a small strip center but it sits right on Inkster road off Cherry Hill. I normally get the mixed Shawrma entree with rice and a salad with extra garlic spread..oh and extra sauce for my chicken yummy!! I also got my husband the grilled chicken entree with rice also and added pink sauce(I'm sure there is an actually name for it). Be prepared for the large portions, I mean it's enough to share with another person or have it for a two day meal. Beware of my pictures because it was smelling so good I forgot to snap pictures before we started eating but you will get the point lol!"
"I've been coming to this place since it opened, so I'm surprised I haven't reviewed them yet. I mostly visit for lunch during the work week, so keep that in mind as you read on.Service is always so friendly and prompt. I'm never standing around for too long before I'm greeted 'n seated. They have some tall tables and booths throughout. It's a decent spot for small groups but I wouldn't try to come here with more than six people.I fell in love with their almond chicken lunch entree on my first visit and I've stuck with it. Why mess with perfection? I sub out the rice for their (excellent) mashed potatoes and usually request it without garnish because I don't like cabbage. I always ask for an extra side of the cream sauce (it's like alfredo but better.) My order is always correct and food is usually served quick (sometimes too quick!) I enjoy their chicken lemon rice soup, although it's very skimpy on chicken and it's much thinner than most coneys serve theirs. Prices are high for dinner but lunch is decent. Their lunches tend to be under $14, which is fairly standard these days. I ordered lamb chops for dinner once and it was like $45? The portion was great but it was tough looking at that price tag to make my initial selection. Overall, friendly and accurate service, excellent food, great portions. If you enjoy patio eating, they've got a beautiful patio in the back."
"The Stubborn Brother Pizza hit the spot! We arrived just in time to grab a seat at the bar to dine in. Super cute, industrial style cozy interior. The bartender greeted us promptly & stayed on it the whole time. We got some drafts & ordered some much needed garlic bread & meatballs. Holy yum! Super tasty! He opted for slices of pizza- I chose to order up a whole one for days of leftovers! We really wanted dessert but had no room. Maybe next time! Dont sleep on this one. The crust was amazing & the whole experience was a memorable one. This is one of our new favs!"
"Easily my go to spot when I want some healthy and don't feel like cooking. The owners are so nice. Always busy. The Salmon Fattoush Salad has easily become my favorite. It's fresh, delicious every time, and is packed with the most perfectly seasoned salmon I've ever had! What do they put on it!? www.thebitetonight.com"
"What more can I say but AMAZING! Some of the best brunch in metro Detroit. Pictured is just from my last visit, I've been a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed every meal and they have the most amazing fresh squeezed orange juice. Depending on how demanding business is on the day, service can get really slow but everyone is so kind it makes up for it. No reservations so expect that if you're going on a Saturday or Sunday at breakfast or brunch time, you'll have to wait a little. Give it a try guys"
"Consistently the best pizza in the area, the sauce has a unique sweetness unlike any other. The "Complete" flavored crust is amazing. The customer service is genuinely friendly and outgoing. Definitely my Go To pizza place."
"Food 10/10 The Buffalo chicken wrap with extra truffle ranch on the side and chips *chefs kissService 10/10 the staff was very knowledgeable and patient with it being my first time. Ambiance 10/10 Modern Sandwich shop vibes the outdoor seating really makes the restaurant."
"Sicily Pizza delivers a modern, eclectic, and fun ambiance that's unlike anything else. They offer a good variety of pizza options. The pizza I tried was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The service was pleasant and friendly, though it was on the slower side. Overall, a cool spot for pizza lovers that's worth a visit."
"Great little breakfast spot with unique food options. My husband and I will come back frequently."
"I met my friend here for breakfast last week and we were blown away by the friendly staff and delicious food! We both had the turkey sausage skillets with coffee. We had the best waitress, Debbi! She was so sweet and made sure our coffee cups were always full. The owner also is very sweet and made sure every table was taken care of. I can't wait to return next time I'm back in town."
"Stopped in for a quick lunch after getting a recommendation. The service was outstanding and friendly. Talked about menu items and decided on the name sake. It was really good with the giardiniera added. Small location that deserves a try!"
"After spending some time driving around Detroit, looking for a good breakfast spot, we popped into Louise on our way home. What a great idea! We sat at the bar, and though we ordered simple food items (they actually killed it with the poach eggs A+++), what most impressed me was the efficiency of the staff, and the cleanliness of the place. When you sit at the bar, you can look into the kitchen and the back serving station. Everything is clean and I think Restaurant managers should come and take note. There is no need to have a dirty restaurant! We'll definitely be coming back again, and again! Recommended for anyone who likes fast service, go to food, friendly, service, and a clean establishment! :-)"
"This spot is top notch. Quality. I will always dine when in town. Security is also 10. I'll always be your 4. Class act in action. Lighting and seating is cozy. Of course it's par for the course of excellence in dining. I trust and eat what I am served. Graciously so. 5 stars. Not to be misunderstood. D. All of thee above. Professional and grateful for every greeting."
"This restaurant follows the same menu concept as Chipotle, Bibibop, Qdoba, and various other restaurants. You choose a general menu category, in this case gyro, bowl, or salad. You choose a base, protein, and toppings. That being said, Estia, compared to these other restaurants came out ahead in our books. The restaurant has a open, inviting feel and was very clean. The food selections were fresh, appropriately hot/cold, and nicely seasoned. Staff was friendly and efficient. Price was a tad higher than other fast food, but we felt worth it in taste and quality. Gyros about $11, salads $15. We were happy with our meals and would consider returning for a quick, casual meal"
"So cute and so delicious. The shop itself is adorable, with cute art and staff is so nice and friendly. Soup is delicious and I love the rotating schedule - they post online the flavors for the week so you can always plan out your visit. And sandwiches are delicious too. Would definitely recommend. Everything I've tried has been delicious. They expanded the sitting area from previously so there are more tables, or it's delicious for takeout. Will definitely be back."
"La Jalisciense in Mexicantown has the best chicharrón in the metro area. I've been to other Mexican supermarkets and restaurants and it's just not the same. This chicharrón is served hot, crispy, but not super hard or chewy. There is a good amount of both fat and meat. The chicharrón at other places are usually too dry and hard. Besides the supermarket, I tried the restaurant for a Yelp event. I enjoyed the food and the variety of aguas frescas."
"For a housewarming party, my friend asked guests to bring their favorite pizza from the area in lieu of a gift. The intent was to throw a pizza party and discover all the local places around town. I live about 45min away but Yelped "pizza" in Sylvania. After scrolling through a few typical places I came across Za Za's and knew instantly that they were my pick. The day of I called my order in of 3 different pizzas to be picked up for carryout at a specified time and they were very helpful to do this. When I got there the pizzas were just coming out of the oven and I had excellent friendly checkout at the counter. The restaurant was clean inside. It was set nicely with many tables and chairs, like a fast casual joint and you could see the brick oven right there that they were pulling the pizzas out of. When I got to the party and set my pizza boxes out with all the others anyone that walked by exclaimed "who brought Za Za's?!?" Which I later understood that was a very good thing. The night goes on, everyone tried all of the pizzas at the party and is asked to write down their vote at the end, and guess what? I, I mean Za Za's won!So great pizza, great, service, and a great night that all came from Za Za's. I ordered the Mediterranean, the Parmegiana, and the Ricotta Spinachi. They were all perfect."
"Decided to give Nick's another try since it had been another few years and....surprise! It was quite good this time. Ordered a couple different pizzas over a couple weeks and both were good. Sauce maybe a touch bland and sweet but the cheese and crust were good. I now have Nick's on the short list of spots for pizza pick-up. Good to see things improving."
"Eating good, fresh, healthy, delicious food is the name of the game at 7 Greens. Everyone at work raves about the place and I finally got to try it today. I walked in and the music was good, the place was impeccably clean and Nyrianna was PHENOMENAL! Rarely do you see folks these days that clearly love their job Nyrianna is the gold standard for customer service. She interacts with every guest as if she is serving them at her own home. I was blown away by the hospitality. Also met the owner who clearly leads by example. The patio is an awesome way to relax, eat good and rejuvenate. I'll definitely be coming here again and again!"
"I wanted to order rice pudding but they didn't have it and said I can come back and order it the following day. I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and a meat shawarma sandwich. I asked for fries for both but somehow got rice.. didn't notice that till I got home. Both sandwiches lacked some flavor - wish they included some garlic sauce."
