"Amazing. I've been making and eating pierogi for many decades and I would serve these on a holiday and claim I made them myself. Dough - great. Filings - perfect. A little confusion around online ordering but it was worth it once we started eating."
"This place is authentic and delicious! They played contemporary Polish music which really set the vibe. Along with all of the Polish decor all over the place. The food was tasty, home cooking. Lots of choices and large portions for the price. Only one lady working the front of house and she was busy! Impressive family style atmosphere. Looking forward to being regulars!"
"Food very good. Hot, large portions, and very flavorful. Large menu with many Polish choices. Peirgos ranked as one of the best I have enjoyed. (You can also purchase them by the dozen to go!) Overflowing with cheese. Amy, our server, was very helpful, attentive, and invested in the business. Decor dated. A bit noisey."
"Wow, real good Polish good! The name is pronounced Pia-check. Just opened, August 2019, inside the Gratiot Central Market building in the Eastern Market district. Ton of different pierogi's. My favorite was The Becky (jalapeno peppers, sour cream, cheddar cheese). Also good was the Fried Bologna Slider (fried bologna, sauteed onions, American cheese, sweet & spicy mustard on a Hawaiian roll)."
""Who stole the kishka, who stole the kishka, who stole the kishka? Won't you bring it back!"That silly Polish ditty reminds me of my goofy father dancing and singing like a goombeck, so imagine my joy when I was shopping at Eastern Market and saw a food stand with employees hawking pierogi wearing t-shirts that say, "I stole the kishka". Best. Thing. Ever. This lovely group is bringing pierogi to the people - in both a traditional and a VERY non-traditional way. You can find the pierogi you grew up with, or perhaps you'd like to try a breakfast pierogi? The pierogi were good. They felt a tad expensive, but after popping a squat on the curb and digging in - the price was no longer a concern. My chlopczyk even ate a few bites.Dziekuje to PPC for such an awesome addition to Eastern Market. (And I hear, soon to your grocers shelves and Ann Arborites as well)"
"The best of the best of the best!Real, homemade Polish food (I know, first hand)... I love that it's so convenient and close. Very old world. If you speak Polish, do pipe up and greet your server in your native tongue. I simply adore this place, it brings me back, and the memories it conjures up are so very warming. This is a restaurant and banquet hall, and offers catering as well. They hold many events throughout the year. Paczki day! Get them here! Dances, festivals, events, funerals, showers, weddings. American Polish Cultural Center and Wawel Polish Restaurant is truly a place to consider for your event. The customer service cannot be matched!! Love love love this place!!"
"As a 2021 update to my earlier review, this business continues to sell some of the best Kielbasa and Polish centric foods in the greater Detroit area. On my most recent shopping trip I got double links of their double smoked sausage (Personal favorite) and their skinny links of veal pork sausag (great for snacking). Both meets were excellent as usual with wonderful taste. Also got a host of their pickled vegetables, fresh bread and some Polish candies. This trip should hold me over for a few weeks when I will be making my 45 mile R/T travel back to the Polish market once again to get my next Sausage fix! There is a lot of stiff competition in the area for Polish food but this place continues to be my favorite and is well worth the long drive from West Bloomfield. If you are a fan of fine smoked sausage then this is a store that should not be missed. Hearty five stars in my book."
"Found this little hole in the wall place in downtown Wyandotte after visiting the neighboring brewery where it was recommended. Best fresh pierogis I've had in metro Detroit and great soups. Very affordable and very friendly service. Highly recommend."
"They Serve traditional Polish cuisine and other foods. I ordered the combo, 3 perogies, kielbasa with sauerkraut and stuffed cabbage. They even served Polish beer. Excellent! I will be back for sure..."

These are THE best pierogi. I have received deliveries from the owner before she had a storefront. The flavors are amazing and high quality. They remind me of my grandmas pierogi. Awesome business to support! We love local and this local business is super delish. She needs an extra star. Buy tons and they are super easy to reheat. Yum!

My family loves coming to this restaurant and we were meeting them in town for a nice lunch. The service is just fantastic and we always enjoy our food. It is hot, delicious, and traditional Polish cuisine. The dill pickle soup is just the best I've ever had. Please try this place as you will not be disappointed. They are usually not very busy and you get seated and served right away. We will return again.

Polish food was decent. Place was crowded on a Sunday afternoon. It seemed like an after church kind of place to go. The server was kind of weird. She was not friendly and had a weird vibe about her. We could see she was friendly to her other tables and attended to them a lot but with us she barely came around. I specifically came here to try their Polish food. I think I will stick to my other place.

First of all, support women owned businesses. Second, these our fresh and different fillings you'd never think of in a pierogi. They are cooked to order and perfect! Very friendly. If you want to mix and match, order the chefs special, which is not on the menu! Also, this is across from eastern market in "Gratiot Central Market." Thirdly, get your asses down here and try them!

We tried the "artichoke spinach" and the "potato cheese" at the Eastern Market on a Saturday. They were both delicious!! I generally prefer potato with out cheese but the cheese in these was super subtle so it worked out well. Don't say no to the sauerkraut-it's super yummy. We did say no to sour cream but I bet it's good too

Cześć. This is my 500th Yelp review so I had to think hard about who I was going to honor today. I cant believe I've neglected PCC, it just dawned on me. It had to be the cultural center. I feel like Steve Yzerman scoring his 500th goal.I've been around Polish food my entire life. I've been to more restaurants than I can count, bringing endless guests and recounting the scores of Wigilias and celebrations over the years where the cooking was done by my grandmother, my aunt's, my mom, and great aunts. I've had good and bad polish food and everything in between. There are some good ones still left in Hamtramck and around town and a new one nearby in Troy.Polish cultural center has the best and most authentic Polish food in the Detroit area. I will openly debate anyone on this topic. Their pierogis tastes very much like my grandmother's or the former Starlite on Michigan Avenue. They have the best golabki anywhere in town. They feature the Polish feast, Wawel chicken (only featured here) potato pancakes, delicious dill pickel soup and the occasional nalesniki for dessert. Seafood and vegetarian as well as a few Hungarian dishes. The ambience is classic old world style proudly served by ladies who pride this establishment. Full bar. 6 Polish bottles and 2 more on draft in addition to domestics. The restaurant is open a few days a week and is always clean and well operated. Very, very quaint and charming interior. Enjoy this experience and bring your family. Dziękuję.

Took my mom here during my visit back. We got the farmers cheese and the potato onion pierogis with a side of smoked kielbasa. The farmers cheese was our favorite!! Highly recommend. For seating, there is 3 booths and several tables inside. It was afternoon so not too busy. The women working were so friendly and welcoming. We will be back!!

"We really liked the Polish Platters. We tried all the sides: dill pickle soup, onion soup, coleslaw, and salad. I really liked the soups. The coleslaw was good and standard. The salad was ok but nothing too special and I don't think worth the price or status of being a side. The soups were just so much better and more interesting! We got pick up and it was smooth and easy. A note that there was an extra charge for doing pick up which I hadn't seen before at other restaurants. Overall great and would be happy to get the Polish Platters again sometime!"
"I was in the mood for Polish food. In the Detroit area, there's no better place than Hamtramck when it comes to Polish food. The decor has notes of the old country wherever you look: paintings, porcelain that looks like it's been passed down from generation to generation, and polka artifacts. Polka music plays, providing a festive mood. There are specials with reasonable prices for drinks; a Zywiec (an excellent Polish lager) is $6 on tap, and a Warsaw Mule is $8. Service was brisk...the drinks were served no long after the order was placed, and the food also arrived quickly. I ordered the salmon potato pancakes, and so was warned that the salmon is smoked. I love smoked salmon. What you get is basically bagel and lox with potato pancakes and sour cream instead of a bagel and cream cheese. The potato pancakes are served with raw vegetables as the only side, so I added a bowl of pickle soup. The pickle soup here is like a cream of chicken soup with some dill added. The effect is subtle...I like to be punched in the mouth by a dill pickle soup, but this is still good. The jalapeño pierogis were terrific...just enough heat, and a bit like a quesadilla when topped with sour cream. The only misstep we're the cheese pierogis. You're expecting cheddar, but instead you get something that tastes like cottage cheese. Strange. Some dishes come with a housemade sauerkraut that's more savory than the kind you're probably used to having. Get it as a side if it's not part of your dish. Portions were massive. Other than the cheese pierogis (which no one wanted to eat), there was so much food that everyone had plenty for another meal. I feel like downloading polka music now so I can recapture the mood. Definitely worth a return trip."
"With Polonia next door it's the battle of the pierogies! While Anthony Bourdain did indeed go to Polonia and sang its praises legend has it Polish Village Café was tapped first but with the narrow stairs leading to the cellar/basement level they were not able to get their filming equipment down there. To summarize my point of the dueling pierogies story my friends is this: Don't miss out on Polish Village Café! Try both places and you will get an accurate comparison of Polish cuisine. Similar yet different. I want to say the 4 of us ladies got phenomenal service from Alexis. She made great suggestions, was prompt, and was able to make a few modifications for my pickier friends. We started with the soup. Dill pickle for my friends and beet for me. This was some of the best beet soup I've ever had. My Polish babcia would make her beet soup and thicken it with sour cream. Other than my grandma I've never had a thickened and creamy beet soup until here. Dill pickle soup was also great with a tangy but not overpowering pickle taste. Wanting to sample a variety and also wanting leftovers I went with the pick 3 meat plate (city chicken, chicken livers, and fresh Polish sausage). Wow talk about a menagerie of food. The sausage alone was enough to feed 2-3 people. They put a beer gravy over the top which is something I've never had but it works. Chicken livers were deep-fried and slightly on the salty side but dipping them in the extra beer gravy proved to be a wise choice. City chicken was just as I remembered from before. Whatever breading they use somehow manages to stay in place but you still get the tender juicy flavor from the pork and veal that shines through. All four of us had enough food left over for lunch the next day. Prices are more than reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get. I'm excited to be living in the Detroit area again and will be able to satisfy my Polish food cravings whenever the urge hits!"
"They have new menus but not sure if the food is any different. The menus are nice. All I know is I had the Meti-Omelette and it was the best Omelette I have had in 20 years. It was soo good. Fresh spinach and gyro meat etc. They put fresh onion in the hash-browns too upon request. Yum. I know its just bfast but it really was outstanding. Cant wait to go back."
"I was so excited to find a local Polish spot on a work trip. The vibes are very much American/Polish diner, we were the youngest ones in the room, older crowds there for lunch specials. The room is light, bright, and clean. Service was nice and consistent. The pierogis were good, I suggest the sauerkraut ones. I wish I got them boiled rather than fried. The potato pancakes were great and came with both applesauce and sour cream. The star of the show was the cabbage roll! Great flavor and texture. Cute local spot."
"I was surprised that Yelp said I already reviewed this Srodek's location, since I have never been until yesterday, but in the past I tried out their pierogies, hence the review. Yesterday I was in Hamtramck for work and FINALLY got to stop by this location, their first store - their second is in Sterling Heights, which I have been to a few times. I was only in the store for about five minutes, mostly to shop for pierogies. It *looked* like the pierogies (frozen ones, in the frozen case) were only $5 and change per package, which was a good deal, so I bought three packages; however, upon checkout, one was $5 and change and the other two were $8, which I felt wasn't clearly stated. I ended up getting sweet potato, garlic and chives, and farmer's cheese - the more "traditional" varieties like potato, farmers cheese, etc. are available upon checkout. You can pay with cash or credit card but there's a 4% fee to use a credit card here, so I paid with cash.Overall it's a nice store, and I can vouch that their pierogies are great, but I do prefer the Sterling Heights location, which is like 4x the size, over on Mound Rd."
"I wanted something different, so I tried the combo that included pierogis, kielbasa, and city chicken. The soup here is a bargain, costing just $.99 a cup when ordered with a meal. I got a cup of the dill pickle soup, having never tried this traditional Polish soup. The dill pickle soup was a pleasant surprise. The sour bite associated with dill pickles was tempered by the creaminess of the soup. The taste of dill wasn't overpowering, and the soup was warm, hearty, and comforting. I would order this again. I was less satisfied by the combo meal. The kielbasa was exceptional. I had ordered the smoked version grilled. The smoky flavor complemented the flavor of the sausage nicely. The potato pierogis were just ok. I had ordered them pan fried, but they tasted as if the frying hadn't happened recently and they were reheated via a microwave. I really didn't like the city chicken. The breading was gummy, and the meat had the taste and texture of a mystery. I would not order this again."
"Every time we visit Wawel we leave full, happy, and wanting to come back again. You just feel like you are going to be served good home cooked food upon entering. There are many places in the Metro are serving up Polish cuisine. Some are good and some are just not quite as much. Wawel should be on your stop in to eat and visit list. We have been here many times (Many more than the number of check-ins I have). Each time the food has been excellent. The Dill soup is a great starter. A personal favorite are the potato pancakes. They never taste or feel greasy as they can tend to be at other establishments. The prices are affordable and excellent for the nice portions you receive. For the main entrees your soup is included in the price, which is not always the case at other restaurants. Do take the time to look and walk on the walls and displays for the history on display."
"If you are looking for the best polish food in Michigan. Hey if you are in the area drop on in to Sabina's. Note this place is closed on Mondays. Try the all city kitchen with polish sausage it quit good. The service I like because I am always impressed how they don't write down their orders. This place is very family oriented so bring the kids. Just down good time eating here. That is all. Chief Look at the past for learning but don't look for the future. Just let it come to you."
"Another great meal at Thomas's. There's a reason it's always busy here, the food is consistently delicious and the service is excellent.I usually order the polish plate with city chicken, pierogi, and stuffed cabbage (comes with a soup or salad too), I ordered the Maurice salad today. It didn't disappoint- just like Hudson's but twice the size.Thank-you to our waitress, Jennifer- she navigates the requests of our aging parents with the patience of a saint.Homemade food, professional staff, and they serve beer and wine. Yes!"
"Very good pierogi! I would not have found them here except for my local friend. I figure if she liked them I was safe as her gran is Polish and I have tasted her gran's delicious homemade pierogi. It is a friendly mom and pop type shop. The pierogi run between $6.50- $8 bucks per dozen. They have an excellent selection but I must admit it is all about the farmer's cheese or the kraut for me. My husband is a fan of the potato, cheese and bacon. For something different you can get cherry which can stem my vareniki cravings in a pinch. They also sell stuffed cabbage, soups and various other items but I have not delved into them yet.Easily turned into a tasty dinner. Great for the non chef, like myself."
"An absolute treasure Great polish and Hungarian sausage and meat products. THey don't make a ton of options, but what they do make is incedibly good.I grew up in a german community with great local butchers. Joes puts them to shame. Try everything - you won't be disappointed"
