Joe J. "I could eat at Tomatoes everyday for the rest of my days and die a happy man. I've had the pleasure of enjoying their amazing food for years and never tire.During lunch hours, you can enjoy the buffet and get an amazing selection to sample from along with the amazing salad bar. This time, we went in the evening and still enjoyed the salad bar, but instead of the buffet, we got a pizza just for us. This was the large Naples Sampler which could easily feed 4 people was an amazing variety. Ambiance is nothing to write home about, but still well done. And the service is friendly and quick! If you're in the area, or heck, even if you're not, start driving! It's worth it!"

Jessy R. "Long overdue review for Pie-Sci - one of my favorite Detroit style pizzas ( already you can also find a traditional round pie here if that's your thing)! My favorite thing about this shop is the variety and uniqueness of the pies you can find here. They also have a lot of veg/vegan options as well and their pizzas can be made GF, so a very inclusive shop for everyone's diet and preferences. Service has always been great and 'za has always hit the spot. Highly recommend supporting local here instead of your run of the mill chain pizza. Dine in or carry out at this location. This review is prompted from their recent collab with Khana for a butter chicken pizza - DIVINE. If you're reading this now, you likely missed it, and I'm so so sorry."

Went this past weekend but they were understaffed and the 3 people working there were very sweet and kept us updated if anything was going to be delayed. I got the shrimp and chicken tacos which were flavorful! Unfortunately the tea latte was a little cold but I think it's because our waiter also had to make all of ours and just got delayed since it was busy so definitely not her fault. There is a cute fireplace area and a separate room to rent out for private events. Definitely would go back next time I am in the area!"

Amanda T. "Born and raised down here, I was excited to be back although so much of Bham has changed. Waahhh!!We walked in yesterday to grab a quick bite. Sat for 15 minutes before we were acknowledged. Yes they were busy for a Thursday at 3:30-4 but we were at a table that everyone walked passed- in the way-- if you will. I think that soured me. I seen 6 different servers and a manager and not one stopped to see if he had been helped. Nonetheless, finally ordered. House bread was best. Nothing comes out hot, just warm. The speed that which they came, coupled with the warmth of my dishes-- they had to be done in large batches and kept under a warmer. Nothing seemed fresh if that makes sense. Another thing, this is Birmingham I expect the restaurant to be kept up. The restaurant is dated and the baskets they have as lights are all askew. There is one to the right of the bar that was literally like a spot light on someone. But don't worry, they keep the place darker so..All this for $100. Thanks but no thanks."

The name change is a bit confusing but other than that there is nothing confusing about the pizza, so good! I love a NY style pizza and this place takes the cake! So many options pizza topping wise. My favorite is the San Gennaro - the spicy sausage is spicy so be sure to dunk your pizza in ranch! Their ranch is delicious by the way. The pizza crust is so good, but a slice does flop. I like to pair my pizza with a house salad which is so good! No crappy iceberg lettuce but a blend of mix greens and fresh ingredients. Their house Italian is delicious. We order online and it's easy. Never had an issue and our orders have always been right."

Next up, vegetable marinara w zucchini noodles! As requested, chef spiced up mine perfectly! Still had a few shakes of their red pepper :) I cooked up some of my pasta and enjoyed the leftovers today. Sauce was even better than yesterday. Two whole tomatoes from the dish added to remaining veggie marinara SO GOOD!!For dessert, tiramisu that was perfectly balanced between choco, coffee and whipped cream flavors and consistency I will be back for the veggie marinara for take out as that was the best I've had in a long time!! I understand the cut style is a thing, but would have just preferred slices. Tough call on a star rating as the pizza is delicious but extremely expensive. That being said it fed me, my wife and two small (3 &1) boys with a couple leftover pieces so it's cheap restaurant food in that regard. Still, for thin cheese pizza, 35 bucks is a lot. However I'd go back to try their unique offering."

Alex K. "well, this place doesn't suck. despite changing their name years ago, "renee's pizza" is what you're looking for when you're trying to find this place. my girlfriend and i ordered pick up and got a 16" thin crust pizza, cheesebread, fries, and a calzone for an unsavory total of... $72. yikes! gotta love that gluten-free *and* vegan tax. first off... adding "light" for the vegan cheese is a must. it almost always is. not only that, they charge you $3 instead of $6, and as you can see, there's still plenty. the pizza was great honestly. i'm not usually a fan of new york style crusts, but this works. their dough is surprisingly pliable and chewy for being gluten free which is a big thumbs up. my only real knock on this is that the "roasted garlic" we added was the jarred stuff. you know.. the kind that's peeled by chinese prisoners' teeth (don't watch "rotten" on netflix, seriously) -- but i digress. the cheesebread is whatever. it's on the same thin crust that their pizza is, and it's just sad and kind of lifeless... reminiscent of what Blaze Pizza calls cheesebread. a sprinkle of vegan parmesan and/or some garlic salt would improve this a lot. it's not bad, just mid as hell. i'd pass on a second visit.the calzone looked awful but was actually pretty incredible. the size of it was decent, the fillings were pretty plentiful... not much negative to say here except it'd be made better with a brush of garlic butter. mm, mm. their fries come off very... five guys. which is good if you're like me and actually enjoy a greasy-and-kinda-soggy fry. they hit the spot, and for someone with celiac (my girlfriend), it was nice to be able to order some deep fried fries and not have to settle with some air fried ore ida at home. as a whole, renee's -- er... Tru... -- is a pretty impressive gluten free place with solid vegan options. previous years' photos of their vegan options look atrocious, but it looks like the new owners have found out how to melt the cheese (which is sad.. it ain't hard). my only kindawish is that they'd have plant-based meats on the menu, but when this relatively small amount of food was already $72, i can see why they don't bother to offer it. absolutely worth a look if you want vegan pizza and/or a celiac friendly option in the area."

On my first visit to Niki's (because YES, I went back the next day to eat more pizza), the A/C was broken. Our server was so kind and explained the situation. She asked if we needed any additional waters or anything to compensate for the heat. Luckily, I am from sweltering Florida, so the heat was not bothering me one bit! Their beers are made in house and they have a great rotating tap list and beer is super cheap too! Only $5 for a pint and $7 for a five beer flight sampler that's served on a cool half record flight board. Great music playing too like The Cure, Joy Division, The Buzzcocks, etc. The Space Shake IPA is one of my faves, not too bitter or hoppy and well-balanced with mango and vanilla. Very refreshing and tasty! The food is really good too! They offer a rotating list of sandwiches with shrimp poboy being a summer fave. They also have pizzas, cheese bread, wraps, appetizers, soup, chili, and more. Lots of vegetarian options like Impossible chili, veggie wrap, and veggies with red pepper hummus. Do yourself a favor and order the French Onion soup!!! It's so cheesy and delicious! Love it!! The pizzas are medium sized, around $12-$14, a good size to split with someone. I love the Buffalo Chicken pizza, sooo spicy and yummy!! The cheese bread you can order as a small for $6 or large for $10. It has a blend of mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan and garlic butter but was too greasy for me. The caprese salad is one of my faves, so refreshing and tasty for summer with super flavorful balsamic glaze, pesto, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. The churros with ice cream and caramel sauce are also very good. WAB owns the Loving Touch. If you're going to a concert at The Loving Touch you can check in at WAB up to two hours in advance so you can get your wrist band early and avoid lines at the door. The wrist band has a coupon for $5 off your bill at WAB that you can tare off. After the show, your actual wristband also serves for an additional coupon for $5 off food and drinks at The Emory too. Can't beat a deal like that!! I'd recommend getting your beers before the show at WAB as each beer is $5 there but the same beer at The Loving Touch is $9. Service is always really good, fast and friendly. Love WAB. It will definitely be a pre-show Ferndale tradition."
