"Adorning the walls are vibrant murals, creating a visually appealing atmosphere. With an emphasis on fresh ingredients and a pleasant ambiance, this spot distinguishes itself as a notable choice for Mexican cuisine in town. Its consistent busyness attests to its popularity. On a Sunday evening, my friends and I gathered to unwind and enjoy each other's company. Our decision to dine there was influenced by my previous experience, even though some items, including cocktails, were unavailable that day.The chips and salsa served as starters were delightful, with just the right level of spices--a perfect beginning to our meal. The cocktails were good. The fajita, while satisfactory, lacked the sizzling heat they typically serve. Opting for Pollo Milanese, it didn't quite match up to my previous experience. Our server was attentive, consistently checking if we needed anything. The food was decent, and the taste was good. The restaurant's outdoor tables, accompanied by a charming light setup, would be a delightful experience in the summer. However, during our visit, the area was completely covered in snow.Overall, it was a positive experience, complemented by convenient parking at the rear."
"Very reminiscent of any lunch-aria in any Mexican town. Reminded me of a Puerto Vallarta spot, wonderful food and service. welcoming attitudes fresh as fresh can beSimple menu but plenty to choose from. Cheerful music. In and out very quickly. Not a place to hangout. Get your grub and go."

"We usually order salsa fight to try all 3 different flavoured salsa with chips. Fried avocado taco is a must try for vegetarians. They are very quick at serving. It has an amazing vibe overall. Not just on weekends but on weekdays too."
"Wonderful atmosphere and ambience! Busy but still enjoyable and intimate. We arrived with a group of 7 and they seated us quickly even though the restaurant had a good crowd. The service was impeccable! Friendly and efficient. It's a very upbeat place and it felt comforting especially when the deliciously prepared entrees arrived. Loved the holiday decor! Sweet or savory: you cannot go wrong. Homemade breads, jams and sauces. A variety of hot sauces at the table is always a winner! This place totally hits! Would very much recommend!"
"YAS YAS YAS YAS. If you are looking for a place to drink some margaritas with some friends. THIS IS THE PLACE. The food is good. Fairly priced. The service was absolutely wonderful. I felt like I had a chance to really escape my busy life and enjoy a hot and good meal I could not make at home and drink tequila that warmed my soul. I will definitely be back. Just a side note, put yourself on the waiting list on the busy times ahead of time. I did that as I left my house and I was seated by the time I got close to the restaurant."
"I have wanted to come here for many years and it was always so busy I never was able to come. So yesterday - driving home from Holly I went through Lake Orion and what do you know - they were having some sort of dog festival with craft tents. We decided to try and see if we could get in here. The hostess said it would be about 20 minutes and took our phone number so they could text us when our table was ready. With the craft show going on that was perfect so we could walk around and look at the crafts while we waited the 20 minutes. It was just under the 20 minutes when our phone went off.So we had the choice of a booth or high top - my preference is always a booth. They give you free chips and salsa (as much as you want). My favorite thing about this place is that they seemed to have all of the ethnic options - not just burritos, tacos and nachos like some places that call themselves "Mexican Restaurants"!My favorite Mexican meal is the Shrimp Ranchero and I must say the shrimp were huge and the taste was awesome. This also came with a choice of soup or salad, and a side of rice and beans. I was already full from the chips and salad - so I took a majority of my meal home. It made for a great snack later on and a full meal on top of that!My friend got the Wet Super Burrito and seriously - it is enormous! Nothing comes with it as it is all inside the burrito - rice, beans and your choice of the meat.Even though this restaurant was packed, our waiter Drew was right on top of everything we needed! The entire experience was awesome and the food was great. Would I come here again - absolutely!"
"Had an incredible experience at this restaurant that just re-opened, we visited it on a Friday night and it was packed but they were still able to get us a table within a few minutes. The margarita was excellent, not too sweet and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. I had the 3-taco dinner which were excellent, highly recommend the Al Pastor and Carnitas. Those were my favorite from what we tried. These were authentic tacos with fresh ingredients. Our server was awesome, he checked on us multiple times and made us feel at home. The restaurant was really nicely decorated and it was a fun ambiance. Overall if you're in Mexicantown, highly recommend coming here and for sure getting a margarita and some authentic tacos. The prices are fair and the quality is there."
"From outside the front you would never expect what a hidden gem this place is. In the front, it looks like every other older spot in Mexican Town Detroit. However, when you enter the giant decorative metal gate in the back, it is beautiful. This place was packed with people enjoying the outdoor dining space.El Barzon is a Mexican and Italian restaurant with options for everyone. This is not an American style Mexican, it is incredibly authentic. I ordered the Mole Enchiladas with chicken. My wife got a Margarita pizza from their wood fire oven (only available on weekends). Our table had some calamari, courtesy of the owner. The Enchiladas de pollo Mole were incredible. The mole takes them days to make and it is so deep with flavor. It is sweet, tangy, and spicy. The chicken just fell apart and it was a perfect portion. I couldn't get enough of the sauce. My wife's margarita pizza was also amazing. It was perfectly crispy, but still floppy where it needed. The wood fire oven sets it on top. Would definitely recommend trying it on a weekend. This place is a hidden, but not so hidden gem. From the service, to the food, to the beautiful patio, this place delivers. Next time you are downtown, check it out."
"I've been to this place so many times and don't know why I've never given the 5 star review it deserves!!! I've never had a bad meal or a bad experience!!! Always have had wonderful service and there's a guy who appears to be the manager...maybe he's actually Juan Miguel!!! He comes around and checks to make sure all is well. Their fajitas are amazing the fire goes up to the ceiling!!!! I've had taco salads...burritos..all great! This time I tried the fish tacos and they didn't disappoint...fresh cod prepared perfectly. My date had the Hungry Burro...very good. All around one of my favorite, nice Mexican restaurants in the area. Always clean and welcoming."
"Got carryout for lunch here around 3, everything was ready on time and nice and hot. Steak tacos were $5.20 a piece and I feel like you got a good amount of meat for the price. The guacamole was small though for $5 didn't come with chips and was kinda bland. All and all good quick takeout spot close to work. Prolly pass on the Guac next time tho."
"Still amazing! We ordered take out and ordered too much food. We had a burrito with al pastor, lengua tacos dinner, and Mexican platter #1. We should've just ordered the platter. The mini burrito and quesadilla are full sized. All tasted like abuela cooked them just for us. Best tasting and super authentic Latin food you can find in the Troy area. The workers are always so friendly and sweet with the kids. Ordered over the phone and was ready for pickup in 20 minutes on a Saturday night. Couldn't asked for more."
"Never been here before, thought we give it a try. Amazing food, server was awesome but one thing that could've been better was the temperature of the restaurant. Nicely decorated for the holiday but it was freezing!!! Would definitely go there again, just dress a little warmer. As you can see in the food pics, it was delicious!"

First stop after an 8 hour flight from Munich. We needed heat, fresh and flavor. Thankfully Maiz really hit the spot. Nice and easy crowd, with good service. We ordered way too much food but didn't care. We were so tired but Maiz was our oasis, refortified by tequila and tortillas, we were glad to be home.

Best breakfast and late night food spot! This is my favorite cheeseburger in RO. Only con would be that I wish they had more seating available. Everything is prepared quickly and always correct so it makes for a good place to eat in or stop for a quick pick up situation

We ordered tacos and quesadillas. Non veg - Ordered Chicken Tinga, Al Pastor (this was really nice) and Pollo Asado. Shrimp quesadilla tasted good but was too oily. Veg - Avacado tacos and corn quesadilla were good. They have limited veg options though. Ambiance - Upscale place. Service was good.Parking - Available

Toast is my favorite for breakfast! They have such a good menu with lots of side and bread choices, and you can get a half order of any of their sweet items. They also have homemade jam - last week was blueberry bourbon. Everyone ordered different things, and everyone had a great meal. I had the fried green tomato eggs benedict with a side of their bacon fried rice and it was so good! I even took half of the sandwich home. They have great coffee including espresso drinks and service was excellent. We got there nice and early around 9am and were seated right away. It got crowded around 10. I love it here.

Conveniently located in a strip mall on the northeast corner of Plymouth Road and Farmington in Livonia is some of the best Mexican food in metro Detroit! There is a plenty of parking in a lot out front. There is dining room or bar seating and they have take out. Festively decorated and you can feel the vibe as soon as you walk thru the door. The bartenders and waitstaff has great and is always serving with a smile. All the Mexican classics - tacos, burritos, enchiladas. Las Palapas has them! Daily happy hour and lunch specials every Mon - Fri. My fave is the taco salad. And chips and fresh salsa with every meal. They have one of the biggest tequila selections in Michigan and the margaritas are to die for. You can even get them to go. If you live or work in the Livonia area and you like Mexican food you must try Las Palapas!

After walking around the flower craft show, we stopped in for dinner and a much needed drink on ice.Took us about 20 minutes to get seated. The restaurant was busy.We both ordered margaritas on the rocks. They were perfect. The corn chips were average, the salsa was good. No salt on the table.I ordered the grilled chicken taco salad. It had a lot of big pieces of lettuce in it (had to cut that up for sure) and a few strips of very dried chicken. The ingredients were fresh which is a,ways good, but missed the mark with me. It was ok nothing great. Portions were huge.

So glad they are back! We went to the new location on Bagley and we really loved the whole experience. The service was excellent and the old El Zocalo location is really pleasant. The tacos are the real thing, genuine, delicious and a substantial portion. I had one of each kind of meat - my favorites were the pastor and asada. The Michelada was just right, a little spicy, a little tangy with lots of tajin.Again, special shout out to the servers who were really nice, quick and attentive.

El Barzon is both an Italian and Mexican restaurant. The service has always been exceptional in the 10+ years I've been dining here. Meals begin with complimentary chips and salsa, while bread and butter is served with appetizers. The salsas are better than the average Mexican restaurant's, and chip baskets get replenished free of charge. If you plan on drinking, I recommend reviewing the margarita menu.As for appetizers, both the insalata caesar (caesar salad) and calamari La Noria are worth getting. I could distinctively taste the anchovy in the caesar salad, but it wasn't overbearing by any means. The croutons tasted fresh and weren't overly dry or crunchy. I initially questioned why arugula was a part of the calamari La Noria, but it ended up being a nice touch. The pennette (penne) alla vodka is the best I've been able to find locally. The kiss pasta is also incredible, but is quite pricey ($33) for a pasta dish. I didn't dislike the scaloppine (veal) alla Frances, but it's my least favorite dish I've had here. The costolette di vitello (veal chop) alla Milanese is the better veal dish between the two, but is more than double the price. My most recent experience at El Barzon was in celebration of my wife and I's anniversary. The staff was kind enough to surprise us with a complimentary "happy anniversary" dessert. The dessert was flan, and it was delightful. However, it was the staff going the extra mile for us I appreciated more than anything. El Barzon successfully pulls off the combination of Italian and Mexican cuisines, and offers a worthwhile dining experience.

"Authentic Mexican food right smack in the middle of Mexican town. If you go during the colder months try one of their delicious soups. All of their food is pretty good. Cash only, but they do have an atm. The interior is covered in what looks like 70's stone looking lava rack. The service is usually quick and friendly. One of my favorite places in Mexican Town."
"During the pandemic, Yelp has been my go-to to discover eateries beyond my neighborhood. While Burrito King is in Novi, it is outside where I typically drive so I would have missed this Mexican restaurant without fellow Yelpers sharing their dining tips. It was doing a brisk take-out business early in the evening; the restaurant was also open for dine-in. I was in the mood for enchiladas and impressed with the choices available: shredded chicken, beef, and cheese in a number of sauces: rancheros, tomatillo, roja, and mole. I selected the tasty beef enchiladas, topped with tomatillo sauce and cheese. They were served with refried beans and rice. I was intrigued by the 7 Mares soup, a spicy tomato-based broth with clams, crabs, shrimp, scallops, and a variety of veggies. I decided to try it, despite the high price, and I am so glad I did not miss out. The savory soup was so large that it came in two take-out containers. It is one of the many soups offered here - I need to return to try some of the others. I must also return to sample their parrilla, whole fried tilapia, and tortas. The menu here is large and impressive. The tres leches cake was light and covered in a luxurious amount of light whipped cream. I liked it so much that I ate the entire piece in one sitting. The owner taking the order was friendly and hard-working. I appreciate how efficiently he worked."
"Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Post COVID the portions may have become a bit smaller but taste is still the best in town! Great service and friendly servers. Large enough to accommodate large groups as well. I hope this place stays as good as it is now for many more years."
"This is our go to Mexican restaurant for dine-in or carryout. The margaritas are big and strong and the food is always hot and fast. We like the Barbacoa taco's, beef Mexican pizza, and the fajitas. The only downside has been the pork tamales which were really dry."
"Service was great, and our waitress was very kind and checked in on us. I had the skinny burrito bowl, and I really liked the chicken. The bean corn side was ok- I didn't love the sauce. Overall recommend."
"Cool, relaxed ambiance and fun decor. Very spacious inside. Lots of seating and the tables are spaced out nicely. I felt like we had a lot of privacy. Clean bathrooms. Excellent service. Brian was very attentive and kind to my table. I enjoyed my cheese enchilada suizas. The green salsa was very good. I also enjoyed the red salsa that came with our homemade tortilla chips. Nice kick and flavor! The panchitos were a great appetizer. The house margarita was done well and I enjoyed my Havana rum drink. They have their own free parking lot, which is a nice perk.Fun place!"
"What a cool vibe! The decor and layout of this place was so fun. The use of the Pictures, vibrant colors, slushie machines, margarita makers, and a large bar all contribute to the decor day of the dead. I will definitely be back for some type of celebration because they have this ice cream float that I just could not wrap my head around on this trip but plan on a different day. I ordered a flight of everything. A flight of three different tacos, a flight of Margaritas, a flight of slushies, and a flight of guacamole with chips. It was nice to taste so many different options they offered. The presentation of food and drink was so fun. They put edible flowers in my drinks and everything. My goodness the food was so good. Everything made in house and you can tell. Our waitress Bailey was knowledgeable, fun, and fast. She got us extra napkins and refilled our chips. Very knowledgeable of the products on the menu and there were so many. For drink, food for the table and top we came out around $165.00 for the three of us."
"This place is straight up awesome. Food is excellent. I ordered the California burrito and it was fantastic. See my photo to see what it looks like and what's in it. if you want legit tasting food go to Senoritas. The inside is nice and cool."
"Updating my review - still as bomb as I remember from my first visit. Dined in this time and it really was a whole vibe from bumping El Makabelico to the potent chopped onions filling the dining room and giving me watery eyes (I share this endearingly like being in someone's home kitchen!) Per usual, I ordered tacos:*Lengua: stunning here. Cubes of tender lengua with just a bit of crisp on the outside. *Shrimp: a friend recommended it and i was completely NOT expecting this but it was almost fajita style with green peppers and onions topped with cheese! The shrimp was cut into pieces and really really well seasoned so almost like TACOS GOBERNADOR! Pretty unique take. Into it. The mighty human working the entire FOH by herself was so sweet despite how busy it was! FYI - on weekends, they have birria, barbacoa, menudo, pozole!"
"Fast seating, fast fresh menu, chips and salsa complimentary, genuine servers of Mexican origination.Cost friendlyFamily FriendlyCarryout available"
"I cannot say enough positive about this restaraunt! This is truly family owned and operated with perfect portions of freshly made food. Each time I have visited I have noted that I need to come back soon. There are lots of clean tables and plenty of parking. Somebody is also usually popping in for take-away. Frankly, the only reason I can think of the place is not mobbed is that it is tucked away a bit from Plymouth Road.It is in a very small complex close to US23. If you are staying at a nearby hotel, visiting UM North Campus, or anywhere near the US23 Plymouth Riad exit, making a minor effort find this will reward you heavily, making you thankful you did not do yet another fast food restaurant or spend money at an inferior hotel restaurant. You can appreciate the Corona beer bottle piñatas and comfortable service and expect freshly prepared rapidly delivered food that I have found to be consistent over time."
"I've been to El Charro before, just not this location, so I'm familiar with their food and had good experiences prior. I met an old friend here to catch up and have tacos since we both love their good food.Walking in, this location has much more space then I had anticipated. We sat by the fireplace and it was lovely. Our server was good but got busy near the end of the evening since it was a Friday night and was busy.I got the puffy taco dinner which came with three tacos, a side of beans and rice along with a salad. I couldn't finish all of it so I have leftovers. The food was good, but the puffy tacos weren't as good as I remember. The shredded beef was fabulous, but slightly dry.Overall, the place is good and I would be more than happy to return for more!"
"Everything about this restaurant is great. From the food to the service! This has been a long time regular on our goto list. Our regular orders ;Queso fundedo, Chilles rellonos, Chicken frajitas, mexican pizza, tortas,"
"First timers for a Yelp event...will return because their tacos are freaking delicious! Love the freshness of these tacos, made to order. Plenty of meat, lots of toppings and sauces. (I recommend not paying extra for their salsa if you get one of their "less plain" tacos - all of ours were so flavorful we didn't even use the salsa...we paid extra for).Favorite for both of us was Mongolian Beef. Heck, I'd drive the 18 miles back to Chino Loco for this taco alone! Both of mine - Loco Shrimp and Firecracker Chicken - were also really good.Take out only so we ended up eating these messy tacos in the car. Bring napkins...possibly wet wipes!Almost forgot to mention the scallion pancake option for taco wrap. Dang, that was delicious. I recommend you pay the extra small amount of $$ and get allllllllllllll your tacos with the scallion pancake instead of tortilla. Especially good with the "Asian" taco flavors. Scallion pancake!!"
"I have not been to Mexican Fiesta in about 20 years. We used to have holiday parties, going away parties, and promotion parties here, I have fond memories of the place. I wondered how much it changed in the last 20 years. The exterior and the entrance look exactly like they did 20 years ago. There is still a small stage near the bar, and there are a still large, separate dining rooms. It felt a little bit like coming home. The fact that it looks the same is a tribute to management's focus on keeping everything looking new and clean. The real standout here are the tortilla chips. You get complementary baskets, with free refills, and a choice of hot and mild sauce. They are perfectly crispy, and likely came from Mexican Town.unfortunately, the food also tasted like it did 20 years ago. You get an option of two sides with your main dish, and I picked baked beans and rice. The rice was good. I would have liked a bit more seasoning, but I didn't mind the rice. the refried beans are the type you get in most Mexican restaurants: they are just a smear of bland, brownish gray stuff.I ordered the fish tacos, because they did not have it on the menu 20 years ago. The fish is good. It tastes like fresh cod. But, you don't get very many of these delicious nuggets in your taco. They cover it with a huge amount of shredded lettuce. Most surprising was how expensive it was. The fish taco plate cost $15. I added a side of guacamole, and bought a Diet Coke. The price at the register was $28.87. And, no, a gratuity was not included in the price. I felt like the guy on the insurance commercial about people turning into their parents. This was the one where a guy goes to pay for his salad, and it's $19, and he tells the cashier he didn't pay for the entire table.I seriously would have given the review and extra star if it weren't for the price. It's not great, except for the chips, but everything is decent. It's not worth it for the price."
"We've been to most other Mexican places in town and were looking for something different this night. I always thought this was part of the similarly-named chain, but it's its own thing. The service and the family that owns it is a hoot, and really friendly and attentive. It's nice and cozy and colorful inside, with plenty of seating. We were told later that everything is homemade, and it shows! Salsas are delicious, so are sauces and all the food. We've been back a few times already, and get the same great food each time. Food comes out pretty quick, and they have a good amount of options. I will definitely try some other things, I'm looking forward to the puffy tacos. It's some great Mexican food!"
"Great dinner spot! Came here for a birthday celebration and did not disappoint. The best part is definitely the stunning decor. Everything is from Mexico, and I had a blast looking around at all the beautiful light fixtures. The bathroom tile was also stunning WOW. Got Horchata and the enchiladas dinner. Wonderful presentation and flavorful food. Big portions perfect for lunch the next day. Thanks Aldana!"
"Our staff got carry out from here today. Ordered 3 chicken tacos, a chicken burrito and some chips and salsa came with every meal. Each staffer got some chips and salsa with their lunch. A little mix from the usual Kimchi box for their Monday lunch. Food wasn't bad. Staff was craving Mexican and it's close to our store too. $51.62 for the total bill."
"Always a staple in Detroit's Mexican town. Fresh off the plane I needed to eat because I wasn't paying $15 for a sandwich at the airport. I didn't complicate things and went straight for my usual the wet burrito with beans & rice along with a couple of margaritas. After all these years the place hasn't changed and that's why they will always be A-1."
"Not sure where the three stars or lower reviews are coming from. These tacos were flavor bombs. I got chorizo, asada and carnitas. The chorizo, for me, was by far the tastiest. The portions are decent, the folks were very kind, the whole atmosphere invites you to spend time enjoying your food. The location is awesome, you've got a little river behind the place and some outdoor seating as well. I can't think of a single thing to complain about. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal."
"I came here for Dia des los Muertos. They did a great job sponsoring the event. This place is very cool. Authentic Mexican decor, beautiful murals and an adorable walk-up taco window. The tacos are spectacular, particularly the Brussels and nopales. Their Palomas are also amazing, as are the fruit infused tequilas. We had: chips and salsa, various tacos, fruity, spicy and blood orange Palomas. We ate lunch upstairs, then had drinks on the patio to enjoy the beautiful weather. I will return for more tacos and to try a few other Paloma flavors."
"First time here with friends. We drive 20 minutes. The chips and salsa are delicious. Everyone's meals were plentiful and good too. No complaints at all.Busy spot so people obviously love it. Will return."
"We were headed to a spot down the street when we saw this restaurant getting ready for a Cinco de Mayo party, so we decided to check it out. We didn't actually go inside. It was very crowded. They had a bar and grill set up outside. I ordered a margarita and chicken street taco. It was the best taco I have ever had!! I would absolutely go back and try more of their food. It is quite a hike but we don't mind that for great food. I definitely want to check out the inside! Cheers!"
