"Second time here - always such a fantastic experience. Great sushi, intimate, lively vibe, good service, and adjacent to downtown Royal Oak. This visit we came for their happy hour, which happens daily even on the weekends (with varying hours). As we came early evening, we were seated quickly- but the restaurant filled quickly and there was soon a lengthy wait for tables by the time we finished. We didn't order any cocktails this time, but we did get their green matcha tea which was solid. We ordered:- tuna tartare tacos - hamachi crudo- hot crab rolls - Mountain Dew roll- spicy salmon crunch roll- crispy rice crab rangoonOur favorites were the hot crab roll and the crispy rice crab rangoon - so so good. Sushi rolls were solid, hamachi crudo was a bit small, and the tuna tartare tacos were a bit heavy on spicy mayo and pickled jalapeños. That said, we have no regrets. We even got doubles of things we liked. On my last visit, I came for my birthday and the desserts are on point, especially the warm butter cake. Highly recommend Ronin in Royal Oak for a nice, fun sushi evening out."

The fish was so fresh and yummy, this is my new favorite!We got the Kalbi & the Chicken Teriyaki for our entree, so yummy! The service was top notch, the ambiance cozy & inviting. Stop by Oyaki when in the area, they are amazing!"

"Good sushi, they have a little restaurant inside. Grocery is kinda pricey but good selection of Japanese goods. I think because of weak Japanese yen currently, some snacks and ramen prices didn't change much. Local produce and products on the other hand has prices increase. Premade sushi used to be under $10 even at large rolls but now Shrimp sushi rolls are like $11.50."

"The portion sizes are wonderful and it's a great time if you sit at the table and enjoy the antics of the chefs when you are served your meal. The food is just as you want it and they make everyone at the table laugh and have a great time, even with the people that you don't know! I have to say it's a fun experience and one of the largest portion sizes for hibachi place in the area. This is not some stuffy location. You'll see all different types of people eating here and they make sure that you enjoy your food and that everything is great for you. The drinks are phenomenal. They have quite a variety of offerings and you will not be disappointed."

"Today was my first time in several years and since I was out that way I thought I'd try it again! On my past visits I had tried some of their Japanese dishes and sushi and I remembered that they were pretty good! Today I had their beef bibimbap and it was also pretty tasty. "Food, service, ambiance = meh.We walked in and there was a sign that says a server will see you shortly and instruct you on how to order. Somebody came up to us and just said sit wherever you want. So we sat there a good 10 minutes and nothing happened so I went up to the hostess, who wasn't at the front when we arrived and asked her for some menus. Took the menus back to the table and sat there for another 10 minutes before I went back up to the hostess and asked if anybody was going to give us table service. She said I needed to ask that when I arrived. Seriously?We ordered the spicy Tori ramen in the Tori udon. Both which came to the table and presentation was extraordinary. However, the taste did not live up to the presentation. Broth was bland, spice was nil, and I was just craving more flavor and each dish. I guess I was just used to urban ramen where their broth was so rich and delicious. Has a cafeteria like feel to it. It was fine. Will I go back? Not sure. Might go back to try the happy hour specials, but undecided as of now."

"I stopped in to try the sushi pizza that's been getting a lot of coverage among my friends. When I went in, I was seated quickly. They have great customer service. There was a fair amount of seating available, and I was allowed to switch to the area I wanted to sit in which I appreciated. This restaurant is decorated nicely. I got my order pretty quickly. The sushi pizza is very tasty. I think they were a little heavy on the artificial crab. I think it has good flavor and a very crunchy crust. I would definitely order something different next time. I wanted to try it and once was enough."

"I was pleasantly surprised with Take Sushi.Prices are pretty good. I love that they had scallops, it's like eating a cloud. The fried tofu was good, they use silken tofu, I prefer extra firm tofu. They use white miso for soup, I'm used to the yellow and red which have a stronger flavor. Even though I'm used different flavors, I really enjoyed my lunch. They have a lovely delicate balance throughout the menu.There was even a few Korean items on the menu."

"Shiro is a super cool spot located inside a historic (and supposedly haunted) mansion. The iconic entrance and grand staircase are super cool and the whole place has a lot of character. The decor is sparse, but the architecture itself is the decor.Food selection and quality was excellent and the live music added to the atmosphere perfectly. The band's spot atop the stairs allowed the music to permeate the entire house without it being overpowering.Definitely get a reservation if you're going for a weekend dinner."

"Tis the season to eat, drink and party! This was my birthday present from my children to celebrate my birthday this year. Tip: A birthday person in your party eats for FREE with proof with an ID. Fuji Japanese Buffet is located in a busy strip mall area with many businesses. Fuji is located at the northwest corner in the back of the plaza. Look for the bright red FUJI letters.There were so many options on this buffet! There are multiple stations including salad, sushi, hot entrees, seafood, soups, desserts and even hand dipped ice cream.The service was excellent! Our server was very attentive to clear plates from our table. I highly recommend this buffet that has something for every palate."

"I truly love a reliable strip mall sushi place and Sapporo is just that.If I ever have an errand I have to do in the area, I make it a point to work in a visit here. It's off John R. Road, which I have a theory that that road is a lay lie for excellent food. I have been there four times now or so. I choose them over other fast/casual or fancy spots, especially for lunch as they have excellent lunch specials.Is the sushi the best I have ever had? No, but it is the best I've found in the metro Detroit area for the price. The last time I went, I think the shrimp and the tuna were a little meh, but the Esocolar and Salmon were excellent. They accidentally gave me the chicken katsu when I was there last and I ate it while waiting for my sushi special. I would put their katsu against Ima Izakaya, for half the price, it was at least as good. Their tempura, seaweed salad, and miso are all very good and they have a good house sake as well as Japanese beers. Kampai!"

"This local sushi spot does not disappoint. They are located in a plaza on square lake and Livernois. The inside isn't very big and they seem to do more takeout than dine in for the past few years. Prices are reasonable. I only order the veggie rolls. Avocado, AAC, sweet potato tempura, and a shiitake one that isn't on the DoorDash or take out menu. I've had the salad before but the ginger dressing was watery and so I wouldn't recommend that. Overall, great takeout sushi option IMO."

It's more crowded and seems a lot less put together than Canton, too.The food was very good. We all got a shrimp tempura bento with a fried California roll for a dollar upcharge. Good salad and miso soup to start. The tempura veggies were crispy and delish. Good sides of spring roll, shumai and dumplings. Oranges were fresh. Shrimp was excellent, and even the rice was nicely done.Service was fine. Fountain drinks were watery. I should have gotten tea. Somehow, it just felt cheaper here atmosphere wise. I would come back but I'd much rather visit the more serene other location with more variety. This will do nicely in a pinch."

Make sure you check this place out and order at least 3-4 rolls. You can usually always walk in and get a table immediately. The menu is vast, and I counted over 30 different kinds of sushi rolls available. I recommend the fried soft shell crab as an appetizer. For rolls, try the Northville Fire Roll, which comes to the table flambéed in a foil wrap, and the Koji Crunch Roll, which is deep-fried rice topped with spicy crab salad. There is nigiri sushi available as well. I tried eel, salmon, and tuna--all pretty standard and tasted fresh. Koji is a good place to start for a sushi novice not yet ready to appreciate sashimi at a higher-end restaurant."

They have 2 large roll specials daily (specific to each day of the week), but they let you choose your 2 (off the list) on Saturday or Sunday. We prefer the first choice because of the salty flavor we prefer for the broth. Favorite when it comes to bento box is the one with salmon teriyaki and then a side of sashimi. Great flavor.The booth table is always full during dinner time. The servers are very welcoming and makes sure to double check the order.Food is very reasonable. Our order was good enough for two plus something to bring home. Location wise - lots of free parking and close to the big round about in orchard lake. Highly recommend the house salad."

The freshness of the ingredients and the creativity of the dishes make So Moon Bowl and Sushi a top notch dining experience that isn't too pricey. Highly recommend!"
