"September 30, 2023Review #443 There are sooo many different types of restaurants in Downtown Rochester from coffee cafe and sandwiches, Knapp's burger joint, Chinese, Mexican, Italian plus Steak and Seafood.Kruse and Muer is a local chain serving up American dishes and specializing in Italian, Steaks, Seafood and Charley's Chowder!I enjoyed a relaxed, dining experience here at Kruse and Muer for My SpecialK Birthday on Sunday, 9/17/2023. The restaurant Ambiance along with comfortable seating and soft music set the celebration. The efficient service from waiter Cameron was on point with special attention to Me and My family while dining for a couple of hours. The cocktails, Complimentary soft warm seasoned baguette bread paired well with our delicious house salads and Charley's Chowder. My main entree Maryland Crab Cakes were very tasty and broiled to perfection with Red Rice Pilaf and Green Beans My favorite! :-) Photos attached as well! Everyone in My family party enjoyed their dinners too from Charley's Chowder, Seafood Lobster Fettuccine, Seafood Panroast # and Grilled Chicken Fettuccine. All were cooked and plated with tasteful flavors and plentiful too! What a sweet surprise for dessert was a Birthday Hot Fudge Sundae and candle. Family sang to Me! :-) History: Chuck Muer owns many famous Charlie's Crab restaurants. Bill Kruse and Chuck became friends back to 1972. "This is my Mom's FAVORITE restaurant. They know her & my Dad & what they like to order! I love that! The parking on the corner is not for the restaurant. The restaurant stays pretty chilly, but your pho will help warm you.Servers are tentative and the food comes out pretty quickly.Mom asked for hot tea (unsweetened) & it was tasty. Ill go the route of my Dad & ask for extra meat, and my Mom's route to ask for extra veggies the next time I visit."

"I love the food here especially the Tandoori chicken, vegetable samosas and Tadka Dal! If you like spice then don't be afraid to get it hot! Service is just fantastic; I believe it might be a family owned restaurant. The ambiance is relaxing and I enjoy watching the videos on the televisions. I've been here twice in a week and a half! I highly suggest this place if you want authentic Indian cuisine."
"This is why I need to look at the reviews more than just the overall rating. I might not have given 5th Tavern a try based on the 3 star rating. But, we got a recommendation that superseded the average of the 471 people who wrote reviews before. Thank you, friend. It was busy, and it took a while to get a server. I was starting to imagine why the score was lower than I would've wanted. Then, the waiter showed up, and took our order without writing anything down. I'd rather not help somebody use our order as a memory training device. My wife always has special requests, and it never ends well. I was expecting a disaster. But, first, they brought out freshly baked bread. It was amazing. Then, our orders were delivered pretty quickly after we placed the order, considering how busy it was. And, everything was exactly what we ordered. My wife loved her salmon salad with feta cheese on it, per her request. My wife's mom couldn't finish the Ruben she ordered, but she loved what she had. And, I was impressed by how good my lobster grilled cheese was. There was actual lobster, and a good amount of it. The cheese didn't add much, but it was grilled to a golden crisp in butter, and it was delicious. My sandwich was served with a chunky sauce, which turned out to be the base for a superb, tomato and asparagus bisque. The pesto drizzle was a nice addition.I was surprised that the prices were reasonable, considering all you get. What in the world were people thinking who gave it a bad review? Well, don't worry about them. It seems that the bad reviews were talking about the service. We had an excellent waiter, and that makes all the difference. Ask for a good server, and I'm sure you will be pleased with 5th Tavern."
"well, this place doesn't suck. despite changing their name years ago, "renee's pizza" is what you're looking for when you're trying to find this place. my girlfriend and i ordered pick up and got a 16" thin crust pizza, cheesebread, fries, and a calzone for an unsavory total of... $72. yikes! gotta love that gluten-free *and* vegan tax. first off... adding "light" for the vegan cheese is a must. it almost always is. not only that, they charge you $3 instead of $6, and as you can see, there's still plenty. the pizza was great honestly. i'm not usually a fan of new york style crusts, but this works. their dough is surprisingly pliable and chewy for being gluten free which is a big thumbs up. my only real knock on this is that the "roasted garlic" we added was the jarred stuff. you know.. the kind that's peeled by chinese prisoners' teeth (don't watch "rotten" on netflix, seriously) -- but i digress. the cheesebread is whatever. it's on the same thin crust that their pizza is, and it's just sad and kind of lifeless... reminiscent of what Blaze Pizza calls cheesebread. a sprinkle of vegan parmesan and/or some garlic salt would improve this a lot. it's not bad, just mid as hell. i'd pass on a second visit.the calzone looked awful but was actually pretty incredible. the size of it was decent, the fillings were pretty plentiful... not much negative to say here except it'd be made better with a brush of garlic butter. mm, mm. their fries come off very... five guys. which is good if you're like me and actually enjoy a greasy-and-kinda-soggy fry. they hit the spot, and for someone with celiac (my girlfriend), it was nice to be able to order some deep fried fries and not have to settle with some air fried ore ida at home. as a whole, renee's -- er... Tru... -- is a pretty impressive gluten free place with solid vegan options. previous years' photos of their vegan options look atrocious, but it looks like the new owners have found out how to melt the cheese (which is sad.. it ain't hard). my only kindawish is that they'd have plant-based meats on the menu, but when this relatively small amount of food was already $72, i can see why they don't bother to offer it. absolutely worth a look if you want vegan pizza and/or a celiac friendly option in the area."
"Perfect. Flavors, portion, quality, price are simply perfect. This menu is quality everything. Their attention to detail is amazing and well executed. Breakfast and lunch hours only. Small outside seating area. Great cafe interior for all size of parties. They cater and are right downtown. The service is so friendly and seem actually happy you are there. Mediterranean salad (order w dressing on the side and add bacon *chef kiss*) Thai peanut wrap, grilled cheese with bacon, tomato basil soup, avocado toast w poached egg are all my suggestions. So good and consistent. I sure hope they stay around. Check them out and you'll see why."

Crowded spot on an early Sunday evening (6:30), probably because of the holiday light show bringing people to town. We were seated within about 10 minutes of our reservation. The waiter was attentive and fast to get to our table. We didn't touch the free loaf of bread, but it smelled good. My 9oz pour of white wine was nearly to the rim of the glass. They should have larger stemware. Our entrees came out quickly (almost too quickly) after we ordered. The specials were good, but not outstanding. Flavors on a salmon diablo should probably be sharper. The textures on the dish also were missing some crispiness.

The vermicelli was so good. We ordered it with the pork and I loved it. The pho was good, but it could have had some more flavor. I really enjoyed the summer rolls. It had a tasty peanut sauce with it. Everything was a good serving size.

Great food, great service and decent portion sizes.Still getting used to Indian food, only had it for the first time earlier this year in Singapore. So I may not be the best judge on what's "good Indian food". All I know is this was good FOOD. The other 2-3 Indian places I've been to have really cheated you on the meat you get in curry and Masala. This place gives you a lot of chicken and enough rice to compliment the dish. I got the medium masala, my mom got some shrimp based dish(mild). We both loved our food, tasted fresh and full of flavour. Complimented the mains with a side of garlic naan. The naan was a little burnt and I think had a little too much garlic butter, but still good.Only downside in my opinion is that like most Indian places, there's not going to be any to take home. You definitely will eat everything there. The prices are fair for today's economy and overall a pleasant dining experience. The server made sure to constantly check on us and keep water tapped up. I'm pleased with this experience

What an awesome spot! Finally, making into First Bite after a much anticipated wait. Let's just say, although it was my first time in here, it will not be my last. The food was AMAZINGGGG! The customer service was AWESOMEEE! The atmosphere was very relaxed and cozy. I called ahead to make sure they actually had Gluten-Free options and the guy who answered the phone was delightful. He kept naming off food items from the menu. After the fourth option, I was sold on trying this place out. Parking can be a hassle. There's street parking and lot parking. Either way, you're going to have to walk a bit to get to the restaurant. Also, the restaurant closes at certain times. I highly recommend double-checking the hours before you make your way over. As for the menu, tons of great choices - you cannot go wrong. I tried the veggie omelette and gluten-friendly French toast. OMG!! Each dish was so flavorful, layered, and earthy tasting. The fruit on top of the French toast tasted like actual fruit - sweet, savory, and flavorful. As for the omelette - wowza! It was packed with veggies and oh so delicious cheese! Yumm!! I ordered the mango smoothie which unfortunately I did not get the chance to take a pic of. Order one of those too! So smooth, creamy, and it tastes delicious!!! The waitstaff - amazing! The gentlemen who took my order was very kind, polite, and fun! We ended up having a great little conversation and that's always great to see happy employees. It makes the food taste that much better. Overall, 5-stars for me because the food was healthy, there were plenty of gluten friendly options, parking was good, and the staff was excellent. I'll be back!!

Casual but nice ambiance. Kids welcome but not rowdy. Exceptional service. They're really on top of things. Always filling water and asking if we want more bread. When we got up to use the bathroom before our food came the bussers attempted to clean our table. My date left their sweater and the staff came to the parking lot to bring it to us. Food was top notch, as usual.

Wonderful dedicated Gluten Free bakery with friendly and knowledgeable staff. We love the various pastries and breads that we've gotten from here over the last few years. Rumi's never disappoints!

"The BEST Bread in all of Metro Detroit! The pizza is also fantastic and the fish is always fresh. They always run a great holiday gift card deal where if you buy $100 you get a $20 coupon, what a great deal!"
"This gluten-free nut-free bakery is amazing! Whether you are GF, NF, or have no dietary restrictions, you will love Dough. Dough is the savory sister bakery to Rumi's Passion sweet bakery in Plymouth. Dough makes a variety of GF and NF deli sandwiches to order, meat and cheese rolls, breads, pierogis, biscuits, pie and pizza doughs, quiches, soups, holiday charcuterie boards, and more. Their team is very helpful with questions, and they had a lot of freshly made goods ready to go."
"I visited Pickles and Rye this week and I am so happy I did! The sandwiches were amazing! Totally tender, flavorful and each bite was great! The sides didn't want to take a back seat to the sandwiches! I couldn't get enough of those crunchy and delicious onion rings! The seasoned fries and the cheddar tots were also really good! We ordered the Sid and Seymour along with the scrumptious deli dip and those pickles.. it was such a pleasant meal! I also appreciate the owner who is very customer friendly and puts his all into making this a go-to establishment for so many!"
"Food 10/10 The Buffalo chicken wrap with extra truffle ranch on the side and chips *chefs kissService 10/10 the staff was very knowledgeable and patient with it being my first time. Ambiance 10/10 Modern Sandwich shop vibes the outdoor seating really makes the restaurant."
"Have ordered pizzas in the past when I'm the area and just recently did so. Friendly person on the phone when placing and picking up orders. Recently ordered their Pepperoni Pizza, pricier than some other pizza places, but it was very good."
"We attended a dinner for about 35 people. The restaurant was packed upon arrival. We were assigned two servers. Madison and Brooke did a great job. A manager also helped with any requests. She was so nice about accommodating me. Our group had three entree options. A steak salad (an enormous salad with a generous amount of meat), Shrimp skewers: (Six large shrimp, rice, string beans) or Chicken pasta. Everyone had a house salad and yummy bread. I ordered a margherita pizza. It wasn't what I expected. I asked if I could just have the vegetables from one of the entrees and a baked potato. The manager said, "instead of making due why not get something you a tually want?" So, I had the linguini and tomato soup. The pasta was yummy. The soup was creamy and delicious. Dessert was carrott cake or cheesecake. The carrot cake was rich and yummy. My family enjoyed the cheesecake too. There is extra parking around the back of the restaurant. The patio was full, in spite of the hot weather."
"Wanting to try something new I discovered this spot and it was a great decision. And I love they have vegetarian options! I got a build your own bowl and my husband got a spicy falafel wrap that he loved. I received a text letting me know my order was ready and exactly how to find it, the communication was on point. And my order was indeed ready in the pick up area within the time frame it said. I have videos of the interior attached as well it was clean and simpIf you're cutting back the carbs or just want a light but filling lunch I recommend checking them out!"
"I try to be gluten free (just preference, no allergy) and my husband is a full-blown wheat head. Every paczki day I place a pre-order with Celiac Specialities because they make THE BEST paczki anywhere. I say this after trying 5-10 other local places for work and they are either dry, soggy, or just weirdly sweet. Celiac Specialties are well balanced, the pastry is fresh and tasty. I love the chocolate with raspberry filling or cream filling as well as powdered. They literally sell out on the day of and this year we were able to preorder on FB and pick-up which was awesome. The staff was really friendly and the prices are fair for GF. I love that this place exists and has such great products for GF and non-GF customers!"
