But otherwise it's a nice place to meet with friends and have some casual dining.Their version of chicken wings are very tasty, and the crabcakes were delectable that came as part of the appetizers. The surf and turf is definitely above average but does not compare to a specialized steak place that has its signature cuts. And for some reason, they lump crabcakes that come with the surf and turf meal were a bit too salty.The chicken dishes were savory and succulent ! And the organic salmon was excellent.Overall quite good and the service was quick and attentive."

"We expected food trucks, but I think because it's late in the season (i.e. normally cold), food was served from the indoor kitchen. But we weren't disappointed! We sat outside on the patio, because it was a balmy fall night, and we thoroughly enjoyed the setting while chowing down on some delicious food! Between us, we got three different types of sliders, garlic Romano fries, Cajun-seasoned soft pretzels, jerk chicken tacos, and sweet potato black bean tacos. Yum, yum, yum! Hubby also ordered a drink - a tequila sunrise - and it was well made. For the three of us, with drinks, the total was $50ish plus tip. I feel like that's a pretty good deal. I could see this being an absolute riot in the warmer months. We shall return."

This is a true family owned business and the most amazing family owns this place and I wouldn't go anywhere else. If you need help while you're there, simply ask for Art or Bill, Donny or Edmin or Mark. If they don't have it, they will get it for you. So please check out Vreeland Market with their amazing beer, wine, liquor, food, stacks, anything you need really. Also, this place has the best home made tamales on Fridays and Saturdays with a homemade salsa. They also have the amazing pizza rolls you'll ever have, but warning they become very addictive."

He seemed to me to be a supplier and not working there but ordered great advice and help to find something that worked for me.Every time I heard someone say, do you have any of these, the owner was like, yeah, just haven't had time to unpack it.They also have several single barrel stuff that they choose. I think there was at least three or four varieties when I was there. Now I can't say my taste is the same as the owner, but the others were there seem to but I mean they are probably local and come often.Only thing is things are hard to find, gotta get some help when you are looking for something specific sometimes."

"This is the best, most well stocked and well organized liquor store that I've been to in this area. Most are old, dirty and dingy but not ML. Their people know their stuff and are always helpful. And they will happily find and order anything they don't have in stock for you. There is one employee who is a big, tall man who sounds loud and a little gruff when he talks. I've read some reviews and he could be taken the wrong way by some folks but it's just the way he talks. I've gotten to know him a bit and he's actually a great guy who has helped me many times finding obscure wines. This is my go to store and is really SO much better than anything else I've seen here in SE Michigan especially regarding wine inventory and knowledge. I highly recommend them, just don't be too sensitive regarding the big guy - he's really ok."

"In the area, this store cannot be beat. They are insanely friendly here. I was pondering over a purchase and the man behind the counter looked up recipes for me! They special ordered cucumber vodka for me, cola flavored vodka, they even told me I if I got the leter vs. the fifth I would only be spending a few dollars more-sold! I have special ordered sooo many items. There selections is great, do not get me wrong. Three olives, stoli, ghost heat, belevedere, absoloute, burnetts, cupcake, pinnicle...you name it! From the vodka in a fire extinguisher to the new booze infused whipped cream. They have shelves where you can browse....and more behind the cooler. They are the best selection of craft beers in the area. Nice wine selection from around the world. Not only good booze, but good for food as well.Bonus, they sell boarshead deli meats. People seem to love thier pizza. They bring in meat and cheese pies from Steve's Backroom. Good selection of chips and candy. Pierino pasta and sauce in the freezer.Great selection of mixers and they carry my okf aloe drink.They always remember you, will help you carry stuff to the car, introduce you to new products, recommend adding a mixer that they found enjoyable....all around great place."

One time, on a particularly large order, he helped me carry all my items out to my car (despite having other customers in the store). They're a big promoter of local Michigan businesses, so you can find some of Ferndale's Finest (such as B. Nektar Mead) at good prices. Speaking of prices, they're the best around.Mo is also a big one on having specialty items, so you'll find the top of the top shelf here, along with a bunch of small and craft produced items you've probably never seen before. "This is not a place to go if you just want to run in, grab some beer, and go. You'll want to take your time here. I came in for some beer, and I ended up leaving with...sake. And beer. And some snacks.The selection of beers made in Michigan is enormous, enough to fill three coolers. Every time I come in here, they seem to have new ones.I didn't notice the extensive collection of sake and plum wines on prior visits, but they have over a dozen different types.The great thing is that they have a tremendous selection, but they have enough good stuff that's approachable from a price standpoint. They also have some very high end things, if you're interested in something for a special occasion. They even have an impressive selection of different cigars.Like I said, come here when you have some time to spare, and take a look around. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for, as well as things you didn't expect that you'd want."

I decided to stop in cause I figured every liquor store has a small grocery section. When I walked in here I was kind of surprised! They have a HUGE selection! They have soda, water, chocolate milk. They sell basic groceries like eggs, cheese and I believe I seen some lunchmeat, but I'm not 100% on that. I think they sell food too, but by the time I got there (5 minutes til close) it was all shut down. I really didn't pay too much attention because I was just trying to get in and out so they could close.They do sell beer, wine, and liquor though and their selection seems pretty vast. I definitely wanna swing back in here and check it out. I hate going to Rite Aid when I need liquor - Heartland and Kroger don't sell any - so this could be my new go-to! Stop in! The old man that was working when I stopped in was very nice and helpful - pointed out the chocolate milk to me when I couldn't find any. :)"

"I don't know much about liquor stores. I've been in them here and there for various reasons over the years. When I think about liquor stores, I think about candy, chips, pop, beer and decadent-shaped bottles hiding behind the bullet-proof glass counter. I think about the creeps and bums that hang around outside asking for change. I also think about how I feel I need a shower after leaving. Not at Top Shelf Liquor.This is by far the nicest liquor store I've ever visited. It is well-lit, well-organized and very open. The guys behind the open counter always greet customers and are always sure to ask if they need help finding anything. Their liquor selection is vast, with multiple sizes of each poison.I don't know anything about beer, but it seemed like 75% of their coolers were filled with kinds I've never seen before... which is probably exciting to beer lovers. There's also aisles and aisles of wine, for my Yelp winos out there. I just feel safe here... Not that sticky, "When can I get the eff out of here" feeling. Top Shelf Liquor is aptly named. It truly is the nicest you can find Downriver."

"Wow. I moved to Detroit in April and was still looking for something akin to Spec's or Total Wine like they have in Texas. How does a small neighborhood grocery manage to have an incredible liquor, liqueur, wine, beer, cider, gifts and accurements, grocery, frozen section, produce, and a deli counter?It is a marvel. It is like a "urban Spec's I guess because they have all the things, just in a smaller footprint. And this might be they have almost every variety of liqueur except pear, or several top gins, but not Citadelle. So, I'm still on the lookout for the store with pear liqueur but can get mostly everything I need here, including wine from my favorite winery in France. Highly recommend."

"I have mixed feelings about Maria's. Generally, it's nice to have a place so close to get a decent selection of wine and some deli items, but there are some downsides, too.I used to go here fairly frequently for wine because it was so close to home. The selection was pretty good for a small convenience store with a deli section. Many local convenience stores will have a couple bottles of Boone's Farm, and that's about it.Maria's actually has a fairly good selection of wine at reasonable prices. In addition, they usually have a shelf or a basket full of discount wines they're trying to move. Try these at your own risk. I've picked up a few interesting white wines and also got a really badly corked bottle of red from my bargain-hunting attempts. Now, I usually get my wine at Whole Foods because the selection there is good and there's a 10 percent discount if you buy 6 bottles at a time.They also sell pizza by the slice here, but I've never tried it because it looks a little scary. I have purchased homemade cookies and cheesecake here. They're not the best bargain around, but they were good quality, especially the cheesecake.Maria's also sells a very small assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables, which is rare for a convenience store. It's nice to be able to buy some fresh limes to go with the Coronas you're buying, or to run down here for a few potatoes when you don't feel like driving all the way to the supermarket. But the offerings are hit or miss. I've come here before thinking I was going to pick up a certain fruit or vegetable, and they have been completely out."
