"The way this restaurant is packed to the rim had me excited for my random choice to pop in here. There is a small patio outside and that was where we sat since every table inside was full. I ordered the sweet tea, and a trio dinner either catfish, whole wings, and ribs, with mac, greens and yams. And of course an order of cornbread, with honey butter. I love that they provide honey butter but it does cost extra. Every single thing I had was on point, greens had an amazing flavor, yams were great, and Mac was good. My friend had rib tips and said they were great. This place does not disappoint and I cannot wait to come back!"
"Had an incredible experience at this restaurant that just re-opened, we visited it on a Friday night and it was packed but they were still able to get us a table within a few minutes. The margarita was excellent, not too sweet and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. I had the 3-taco dinner which were excellent, highly recommend the Al Pastor and Carnitas. Those were my favorite from what we tried. These were authentic tacos with fresh ingredients. Our server was awesome, he checked on us multiple times and made us feel at home. The restaurant was really nicely decorated and it was a fun ambiance. Overall if you're in Mexicantown, highly recommend coming here and for sure getting a margarita and some authentic tacos. The prices are fair and the quality is there."
"Ambiance. Converted firehouse into restaurant and celebrates firefighters. Lots of light, vaulted ceilings, LOUD. Rooftop has limited menu, but scene is nice.Service. Fine; nothing of note.F&B. Tasty, but overpriced.Of note. Street parking. Loos clean and stocked. Captions say more.Overall, I would go if others go, but not too thrilled."
"Great Salad. Great portion. Fast service. Came here with a group of coworkers during lunch and we were all served fairly quickly. I always enjoy getting the BBQ Chicken Salad because the chicken is flavorful, the crispy strips are delicious, and overall the portion is good! Was not too impressed by the cornbread as it was fairly hard, but the taste was good!"
"What a hidden gem--so glad my friend recommended this place.Great service, very attentive staff. The food was excellent and plentiful, also loved the (complimentary) banchan: fish cakes, kimchi, marinated cucumbers, cabbage salad, green dish (mustard greens?--forgot to ask). I really loved the cucumbers and cabbage salad! Kimchi was a little fishy for my taste.Since I've never been my friend decided to order a ton of different foods, so I could try a lot of different things, and she could have leftovers. I started with the Gun Man Doo (dumplings) and Seaweed Salad. The dumplings were delicious, really liked the sauce that comes w it too! The seaweed salad was too fishy for my taste--maybe too much fish sauce? My friend ordered the Gyeran Jjim (Steamed Eggs), which is like a fluffy mound of scrambled eggs. Yum! She ordered Galbi (marinated beef short ribs)--that flavor!!--and Budae Jeongol (soup w a variety of meats in it) which was way too spicy for me. I'm a wimp! And I ordered the seafood bibimbap and LOVED it. You get tiny shrimp, scallops, mussels, and octopus in every bite, and the flavors were subtle and delicious. Perfect dish for a freezing cold night! Just be sure to stir the rice after they set the pot down, so it doesn't burn on the bottom! We were stuffed by the end of the meal, and my friend had lots of leftovers to take home! Would definitely recommend and will definitely go back!! My friend also order"
"I'm going to start with the bad... we are only 3 people, black snd gratuity of 20% was already added to the check. Given the lackluster service, I never anticipated giving them any more than 15%. On the menu, in 8 pt text it states, all parties MAY BE subject to a 20% gratuity. So.. this restaurant chooses to whom they think will not tip. I'd like to make it crystal clear that unless a party of 6 or more where maybe more work at a table is required, a tip is voluntary & complementary. A guest is only entitled and legally responsible for their bill. We were seated quickly and handed menus. The wait for service was about 20mins. We ordered and the food came out quickly. Sadly, not given utensils. Not greeted. No run over. Imagine fast food on speed with our initial hi, what can I get you. Luckily, I know how the restaurant works so I explained to the table. The dining room had about 5 occupied tables & 3 servers. We weren't checked on voluntarily ever but we did use the call button for obvious needs... rice, utensils, more sauce.. etc. Things started moving fast for other tables once the women came on the clock although they weren't assigned to our table. We asked for sugar for the tea and they not the cafe had sugar. Nor bottled water for purchase. We left with our bellies full and that's all that matters. I'm traveling through so I won't be returning and even if I lived here, nope... I wouldn't come back. The automatic add of gratuity, although I did ask for them to remove it & they did, rubbed me the wrong way. Nopeity, nope nope."
"I always wanted to try this bbq place the last time I was in Lapeer 9 years ago. We stopped by the place and the food was really good. We liked the Smokey wings and sausages. The waitress was great and very friendly. One of the best places to eat in Lapeer!"
"when we first got here this place looked really cool, we sat outdoors which was nice and quiet, barely anyone here really, I have to clear up a confusion, Yelp says this place closes at 8pm, it does not, they close at 9pm, so you got an extra hour folks. Your welcome. We ordered drinks, I had a Killians and she had a mixed drink called "Long Erie Island" which was very boozy. We were recommended the Special Platter for 2 by a friend of the family so we decided to order it. It comes with 3 sides of your choice (which by the way I recommend you get your own Mac N Cheese cause you won't stop eating it & you won't share it either), Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, St Louis Ribs, 1/2 BBQ Chicken, smoked sausage. This food was VERY delicious, everything was juicy, tender and just cooked to perfection, this place has great food, a great environment and a great staff. They also make their own BarBecue Sauce which is outstanding. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place and this food and I will DEFINITELY be coming back here soon."
"I've been eating at Osushi since around 2002. Hands down the Best Sushi i have ever had. From anywhere in the world. Spicy Tuna is outstanding, no tacky mayo on top. The service is always remarkable. The owner is friendly and treats my kids well they've been going every year for their birthday since o4!!"
"Me and my girlfriend met down at Bert's and had some soul food, that fed our soul. The waitress, was very nice, along with everyone else, that was in their as well It was Sunday afternoon, the Detroit Lions game was on the TV, winning, that's what we do. It wasn't too loud in there, it was just right.Really enjoyed myself, good company, good food, good atmosphere."
"Very cool bbq spot. I like that they have live music sometimes . The interior is very cool and really feels like bbq. The food is very good and I like how they offer different types of specials . You come for the food but hang out because it's just cool. The service is very good. What I really like is seeing the owners. Too me it shows they care they are really trying to make the experience and food great."
"We have been customers for years and have loved the wings, bulgogi and bibimbap. The wings are flavorful and crispy. The crunch is satisfying and the sauce varieties are perfect for your spicy cravings or I get them plain and sauces on the side to take home. There's a nice dining room area if you want to eat in. The customer service is great and everyone is friendly and welcoming. They do not have ramen on the menu anymore so I hope they may offer it again in the future."

Pros:- large portions - friendly service - tasty, home style flavors Cons:- unbelievably SLOW service omg. It took nearly an hour for our meals to come out. Yes, it was a Saturday night, but an hour wait after ordering is quite lengthy. The kitchen absolutely could use some work in managing orders and sending them out in a timely manner.

So glad they are back! We went to the new location on Bagley and we really loved the whole experience. The service was excellent and the old El Zocalo location is really pleasant. The tacos are the real thing, genuine, delicious and a substantial portion. I had one of each kind of meat - my favorites were the pastor and asada. The Michelada was just right, a little spicy, a little tangy with lots of tajin.Again, special shout out to the servers who were really nice, quick and attentive.

Our group got seated in a little private corner that was so cute. That was the best part of the experience for sure. The food was decent, but they did have quite a variety of options. The service was very slow but they were busy. Our server was kind though.

We've been here dozens of times and up until the last time it has been consistently good. However, this last time we went to Smoke Street it was decidedly "mid." The food was cold, the cornbread tasted old, the portions were about half the size of what we were used to, and the smoked meats were all greasy and fattier than usual. Hope this isn't their new normal.

Everything we ate was great! However, the service was 100% not cool. We ordered a few appetizers and a bbq set. The waitress dropped everything on the table at the same time. She shoved the appetizers in front of us and then proceeded to put every slice of the premium brisket that we ordered onto the bbq grate before we had a chance to touch the apps. This was a clear message to the tune of "eat this now and get the ef out"! Oh, and we weren't looked at again after our entire order was slammed onto the table. The same woman only appeared again to slam the check onto the table. She reappeared to cash us out and VOILA!!! C'mon! This place can do better on the service end of things.

We went as a family to celebrate our recently passed father. When we arrived the restaurant was loud and chaotic. it took quite some time to be seated. After 15 minutes of no waiter attending to us I went to the front. To ask for assistance. Instead the woman who I assume was a blond female floor manager of some sort gave me attitude, implying that somehow it was our fault that we had been ignored. Maybe she was having a bad day? But we all found her attitude unprofessional and off putting.Aside from that we had a very nice meal. The Food was well prepared and very tasty. I would recommend. But be aware that this is a very loud restaurant and people with hearing difficulties will find it challenging to hold conversation. No matter, they will be enjoying their food instead. Please retrain your staff to put the customer first rather than their personal problems. Especially when we spend $400 on a meal.

The service is outstanding each and every time, the food is fabulous no matter what we order. This time a small sample of the soup had us hooked along with great drinks.

I have a love hate relationship with this place. The staff is phenomenal, down to earth just all around friendly and kind people. The food is a hit or miss. The sauces they offer is delicious! The ambiance is your common bbq joint. I have been here 3x..I will stick with the bbq wings though.

"Best ribs, best customer care, afficient, thank you Team will always come for tht mealGreat carpark"
"Dawn!Need I say more?I don't think I've ever had a server give me a password as quickly and kindly as Dawn did-its usually a shrug or a nod in the direction of the #sign. I wanted to look something up, and when she hit me with it's #allaboutthebush, I cracked up. I had to thank her for that because it really made my day. We had mutual interests, and chatted for a bit, and she was so patient. My friend is a regular, and recommended the perch, so we went with that.He ordered the dinner (5pc), I got the lunch (3pc), both sauteed. His meal Included the lobster this when it came to the table, he asked me right away if I wanted to try it. Well, of course, I did...and it was absolutely out of this world! Just the best lobster bisque I have ever had. Lots of lobster. So, again, Dawn, who was never far away, came over and immediately got the order taken care of and brought me my soup in less time than it takes to say, "No soup for you!".This was a #FirstEncounterOfTheDateKind, and we were there awhile. We never felt rushed, drinks were refreshed promptly, orders delivered quickly, and all in all a 5 experience. The red skin taters were a nice add to the dinner.Now... one thing reviewers don't like: having to give feedback on a dish they're not particularly fond of...as a Michigander, I've been a #PerchAndPickerel fan forever. I've never had perch sauteed. I won't again. It def needed SOMETHING spicewise. I tried drowning it in lemon to no avail. I don't "do" tartar sauce, so that's on me. I do limited gluten, BUT, since the perch is a fave, I would def try it the next time, but breaded and fried. No shade! It was such a pleasant experience (Dawn, again) I'ma ask my dance buddies from the Community Center why no one ever mentioned it!I'm flumoxxed, but full. Thanks for a gr8 dining experience. This place is VERY family friendly. Lots of incredibly well mannered children- way to go parents! There's corn hole and horse shoes outside, too.Oh, in case you forget the WiFi PW, look at their shirts!Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5"
"Great pizza spot in Milford minutes from Kensington Metropark and Camp Dearborn. Had an XL pizza and the Greek salad. The pizza was sooooo cheesy and perfectly cooked. The sauce tasted delicious and dough with the garlic crest was amazing. They have a large covered outdoor patio with lights and fans. Didn't see any heaters so probably only used in Spring/Summer. **Warning-- No indoor seating and although you can eat on the patio there are No Public/Customer Restrooms on-site. I'd definitely come back for another pizza and maybe add an order of the fried chicken."
"I'm from Chicago, just moved to Michigan. One thing I miss the most from Chicago is the pizza. But this location 50770 Gratiot Ave. Is legit !!! Pizza taste just like the one back home. Highly recommend this location. Also the Buffalo wings ! OMG !!!! They are delicious. All I have to say is, Father & Son pizzeria where have you been all my life !!!!"
"Driving down Main Street in Lapeer, you'll see many fast food places, with family diners interspersed. You'll be excused for thinking this is a diner, since it has that look. But, E.G. Nick's is far more than that. The selection and quality set it apart from the eateries that surround it. There are a dozen excellent beers on tap; a 20 ounce Upperhand IPA, a powerful Michigan brew, only costs $8. The Moscow Mules are strong yes smooth, for $9.While a diner may offer a bread basket (as rare as those are these days), E.G. Nick's provides freshly-baked breadsticks without you having to ask. While a diners have a variety of soups, the quality here is far beyond any diner. The minestrone soup is like a chunky, savory stew, light on the noodles and heavy on the vegetables. We ordered a quart to go before we finished the bowl, and decided to order a second quart before we left.Tacos are available with either chicken or fish, and fried, baked, or blackened. The blackened whitefish is flavorful and light. One good thing that E.G. Nick's kept from their diner roots is the massive portions. You get 2 large tacos with a mildly spicy ranch, and a mountain of crispy, Rally's style fries. I would normally save half of a big plate like this for another meal, but it was so good that I ate all of it.Coleslaw was served with the tacos. This is how all coleslaw should be: not too sweet, not too creamy. The salmon in the salmon salad is baked with a brown sugary glaze, and it's substantial. The saladItself is also massive, with surprisingly mild blue cheese and dried cranberries. When have you had any of that at a diner? The Black Tie Pasta is a huge bowl of creamy bow tie pasta with tortellini and blackened chicken. The Alfredo sauce is excellent, with a nice roasted garlic flavor. I honestly can't think of many places with a better Alfredo sauce (and no, Olive Garden, I'm not thinking of you). The service was prompt and friendly, and the food arrived at the table not long after we placed the order. The whole experience is so good that it's easy to forget that this isn't an upscale, trendy restaurant. But, who cares when the food and the service is this good?"
"This is the most underrated restaurant in all of metro Detroit! Everything is homemade by Dennis and his wife from their bread to their sauces and soups. OMG, heaven.Dennis the owner is very friendly and grateful for his customers. He walks around and visits with all. Awesome atmosphere. Extremely friendly staff. Cannot wait to go back!!"
"I was in town for business and tried Victory Smoke house last night. By way of background I used to be in the BBQ competition circuit and owned a BBQ catering business. My theory on BBQ joints is you can tell how authentic they are by the size of their wood pile.Victory Smokehouse was amazing! Their pit is a true BBQ pit and you can tell they have some pit masters tending their meat. The brisket was spot on, the burnt ends were incredible. The mac and cheese and greens were top level. If you're in the area make sure to check them out."
"First time trying this place and I have to say I will eat here again. Ordered the one meat combo (burnt ends) with slaw and Mac. I also ordered the brisket chili with cheese and onions. For the price it was a good size serving. I have another whole meal. I didn't even get to the chili. I ordered the shack sauce and it had a nice flavor. A little sweet and a bit heat balanced just right. My kid ordered the burnt ends nachos and loved them."
"The best bbq in Michigan comes out fast barely no waiting. This place never disappoints"
"I went on a date here in december and the food was really good!! We got there late, around maybe 8:30 and sat at the bar. The bartender was respectful and gave us plenty of suggestions. I wish I remembered everything I got but all I know is that we got a variety of different foods to share (mac & cheese, brisket, ribs) and left happy. The drink I got was also good."
"We decided to give this place another try and it was great, the service was on point this time, the food was really good. I got a side salad and there was no up charge and the salad was BIG and the cheese was great. I also loved the fries here, they were so good, I could have ate a bucket of them. The brisket was ok, my bf got the pulled pork and said it was 5 stars."
"As someone who smokes a lot of meat, I can be pretty critical of restaurant BBQ places. This is BY FAR the best BBQ I've had in the area (or, honestly, most other states). We got the 2-person sampler platter and everything was great. Perfectly juicy meat, tasteful sauces and great sides, especially the street corn. Ambiance is a bit more traditional than BBQ but the food is well worth the trip. The owner also is very friendly and takes pride in his work."
"Backstory: My mother and I grew up in Michigan but moved to Arizona in 2010. We come back to visit every 1-2 years for this, that, or the third. My biological father wanted to take us to dinner and he really likes they shrimp so we came here. Review: We walked in, were greeted within 30 seconds. We were sat within a few seconds of that in a booth. Our waiter came by within a minute. We all ordered and that was that. The food came out within 10-15 minutes... salad was 5-7 minutes if that. My ribs were delicious and the shrimp were good too. Thank you Kim for your sweet personality, kindness, and wonderful customer service. Also, thank you Nolan for your speed quick response to my request for tartar sauce, such a sweetheart...and a cutie too lol anyway, great recommendation! I would love to come back! The ambiance in the restaurant was chill and relaxing !"
"I've been driving by Biggies for years and finally stopped in yesterday! OMG! It's so good. I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken , Mac&cheese and baked beans. It's by far the one of the most delicious fried chickens I've ever had. The seasoning is flavorful with perfectly cooked inside and juicy and crispy skin!!! I would seriously recommend trying if you haven't!!! I am a new customer for this restaurant and will keep going back!"
"We LOVE this place! Ribs are phenomenal and the chicken is right there with the ribs. The only thing I would change is it being a dine in establishment instead of carry out."
"This review is for the food truck that was at the St Clair Shores Farmers Market July 11th. An excellent sandwich from the food truck!! We both got the brisket sandwich with pickets and cole slaw. Gotta admit...very little Cole slaw. Barely a spoon full...I guess I thought it would be a side. But the sandwich was excellent...the meat is perfect. A nice bun. They have BBQ sauce in a squeeze bottle if you want more. I loved the Mac and Cheese. Very VERY cheesy with a good rich flavor. It's a food truck so the atmosphere is food truck! They work fast and are very helpful with questions you might have."
"I would have given a t star, but i didn't get any gravy on my dressing it was still good though. Ribs were not tought or to tender but just right for my taste ,and you can taste the smoked flaver cooked in.Havent had them for some years now but they have stepped up since last time. The Ribs are pretty big also compared to what I've been given from other places I visit."
"The Vic is a tradition in these parts. It's changed a lot since the first time I came here, it's no longer a small, dark, extremely smoky place. They renovated and it's very nice and spacious inside, although you still put your food order in at one counter and then get your drinks from the bar or waitress. The smokehouse turns out some very tasty smoked goods, make sure you give them a try. They also have daily specials posted on the sign and calendar inside, and on FB. They're also great, give them a try. I've had several that are great, but I'm partial to the Monte Cristo - it's delicious. They also have great soups and sides. Check out the pasta salad if they have it, it's really good and not the average mayo kind. Service is great, and you can get in and out relatively quickly, or get to-go. Give The Vic a try, it's a gem!"
"Best food I've had in a LONG time . Recommended by a friend - me and my two best girl friends (one pregnant ) went here Saturday early afternoon to fill my girls crab craving . It was our first time. After walking in we were told where to go to the back to dine in.... such a great little area nice new and clean .... not what you would expect from the outside appearance . We all ordered the Alfredo potatoes with crab and shrimp and got various sides as well as both baked and fried tilapia and kool aid ! It was seriously amazing and portions were great : we had absolutely no complaints. Service was great and friendly . Can't wait to go back."
"Location -Sterling Heights off Mound RdWow what a busy place. 4:59'on Friday night.. Forgot to call ahead but hostess very kind.15/20 min wait.Received text at 20 min. Very busy and wait area kinda conjested.Everyone kind that was working on seating9 people.Food excellent. Filet, sirloin, salads, made just! Right!Texas Road House usually a go to for us."
"A Mack Avenue staple for many years now Champs is one of the best places for ad-hoc family dinners. Having grown up very near to here my family frequented Champs. We've ordered out, ate in, sat on the patio for lunch dinner etc. The menu has not changed much over the years. They serve a variety of salads (I recommend the Traverse City Salad), fish, meats, etc. Hard to not find something for the picky eater in your family. I'm a hug fan of their fish and chips. It's not ground breaking, but it comes with some garlic bread and it's just one of those dishes that I miss from home. The "chips" that they serve are cottage fries. Just a little unique quirk about Champs is the cottage fries. It's nice to have these since they are not as common as your typical french fries at other restaurants. They have a 3-season patio that you can sit on. This is devine in the summers when you can enjoy the air and watch the tigers on the TV outside. There is a small bar here, but I wouldn't consider this to be the place that I'd tell my buddy to meet me at for a drink necessarily. Overall, Champs executes their menu pretty well, and to do that over so many years isn't easy. I'm comfortable with 4 stars for this childhood staple of mine."
"Always something wrong when I come to this play . Last time they gave me rib tips instead of rib dinner. Now today I get home and the ribs were burnt and i know that they knew what they were doing because they put my ribs on the tray upside down so I wouldn't see it."
"Once again, I find myself glad I didn't check out the reviews before I visited Steve's because based on some of them I would have probably not visited. But I am glad I did!I was in the D with my lil bro finishing up some business and we both decided we were hungry. Not surprising huh? LOL As I haven't really been back to Detroit in a number of years, I let my brother chose the venue as he is there frequently. When he suggested Steve's, I had a brief flash back to the nightmare that was Southern Fires (see my review), but decided I may as well check it out.First impressions - it's tucked between Jefferson & the Detroit river, not far from downtown, in a small warehouse district. It's in a old nondescript brick building with a lone neon sign. Bonus, there's a decent sized free parking lot right across from the entrance. Entering the building, it definitely has an old school, weathered elegance about it. Like in the past it was a "high society" spot.Upon entering we saw the counter. You basically grab a tray, then go down the line choosing your meat, sides, dessert, and drinks then pay. It's a simple straightforward process, but one that is easy to bottleneck if you have either too few people manning it or too many. Luckily we had just missed the lunch crowd so the line was empty and we sailed through. For me and my brother, with waters and no desserts, the total was just over $35 which I thought was a tad high, but he says is typical for a spot near downtown. The Service - was fairly prompt and friendly. I did have to ask a couple of questions a couple of times, but I put that on the server being distracted by a co-worker asking my brother what sides he wanted. The acoustics of the counter area leave a bit to be desired for audible clarity if more than one person is talking. But then, the building wasn't designed for that purpose. The Dining Room - was large and spacious, and clean. High tables, regular tables, and large booths were the choices. There was a large TV playing family shows at a volume that wasn't intrusive. There is a stocked bar, but I don't know when it is available as no one was tending it and it looked "shut down" while we were there. The Food! - the food was fantastic! Maybe we were lucky and caught everything fresh but everything we had was hot, and tasty! I had the rib tips, dressing, and mac & cheese. My brother had the meatloaf, with the same sides. They also add a corn bread muffin which was delicious. Very much home-style cooking & flavor.Overview - Overall it was an enjoyable experience and I will return next time I am in Detroit. From reading other reviews, I would probably recommend avoiding the lunch rush as our experience was nothing like those reviews. Or maybe they just got their act together?"
