Worst Valentine's Day Dinner.Made reservations a week prior to Valentine's day for 9pm.When me and my significant other sat down, we placed our orders in right away. Drinks, appetizers, and entrees. We ordered the half chicken, and burger, and meatballs. Our drinks came about 20 minutes later and then our appetizer an hour later. We waited for our entries to arrive, but they never did. Instead, we had 4 different servers come up to our table to ask if we were ready to order, to which we kept reminding them that we already did.It was about an hour and a half after being seated that the staff realized that we were forgotten about. Instead of admitting their mistake, they kept giving us lip service. Telling us "it will be right out."We believe the manager on duty, came up to our table and tried to give us lamb while we waited for our actual order. We declined and it was left on our table. This lamb was old, and clearly someone's dish they did not want. The manager said she would comp our meal, and we asked for it to be put in a to-go bag. Finally, another 30 minutes later, at 11pm, two hours since we were seated, we still did not receive our entrees. At that point, we just stood up and left. This was suppose to be a wonderful Valentine's day dinner, but instead it became a joke. We drove an hour to get here, just be forgotten about. It felt like once the staff knew they messed up, they were just waiting for us to leave instead of trying to fix the problem.

Third year here. Also my last now. Unfortunate because this was one of our favorites. This place is amazing for the building and the fact that the library bar is attached. Their "new" menu is trash. The service tries to make up for it but you can't help when new chefs take over. Don't waste your time or money. Not worth it anymore

First off, we absolutely love the Detroit Club & we try to frequent as many events as possible. We were excited to hear about a new chef in the mansion and decided to attend the tasting menu event. Bohemia is located on the first level of the club and is the main restaurant. This would have been a fantastic event but it was very understaffed and it took forever to get things served. We had seats at the bar so we enjoyed quite a few cocktails in between the tastings. The new menu items were very tasty and I'm excited to see things getting back to standard service. If you haven't had a chance to visit Bohemia, I would most certainly give it a try on a normal night.

I hate to give such a mediocre rating to such a beautiful and historical place, but here we are. Bohemia used to be the Detroit Club restaurant. They moved the dining room to the third floor where the kitchen is which I thought made it smaller and more intimate and also more beautiful. They replaced the wooden blinds with drapes and decorated the trees with twinkle lights and along with the chandeliers and lighting it is quite pretty. We were seated right next to the kitchen but couldn't hear any kitchen noise or smell anything either. All good so far!We visited on the Saturday before Valentine's day. Although we were told that there weren't any food specials, there was a special drink menu. I had a rose flavored drink (the flower) and husband had a Macallan. We ended up ordering two drinks because although there seemed to be plenty of servers flying around everywhere, it took a while to have our orders placed and served. Everyone was very busy, busy, but it seemed like it wasn't only ourselves that lacked in service. Also, my drink was supposed to be made with gin but I can't have gin, so I requested if it could be made with vodka instead and was told that it was no problem. Whenever I have to make a gin substitution I always ask whoever I'm dining with to double-check it and the second time it was made with gin. We didn't know before we ordered drinks, but there was only one bartender handling the bar and the restaurant drinks, and she was slammed and I'm sure making so many of the drink specials so I'm not surprised that there was a mix up. Everything is a la carte on the menu and I chose a mushroom miso and cashew orichette dish and my husband got a prime rib. We also had a smoked whitefish spread appetizer, which was delicious. My pasta dish was disappointing. The miso and cashew drew me in, but I didn't really taste any miso or cashew. It was basically a pasta dish with some mushroom sauce. My husband's prime rib was perfect though, cooked exactly right and was delicious. Our server handed us the bill at the end of the meal without asking if we wanted anything else and I did want to inquire about the dessert options. They had two options, and we chose to split a deconstructed baklava sundae because it sounded so interesting. It was interesting but I would not choose it again. The salty parts were super super salty and not appealing with the more savory and sweet parts of the vanilla gelato and phyllo dough birds nest accompaniment. During our dinner, we saw several people being served incorrect dishes and then saw those dishes making their way around the room before finally ending up where they were supposed to be. Our dessert was no different. There were two to be delivered and the server took them around to several different tables before they finally made their way to us and the table behind us. So that was the type of thing that added to the busyness but didn't really accomplish anything except wrong food getting delivered to the wrong place. I think a lot more organization was needed. After dinner we decided to visit the bar on the first floor where we have had drinks before. That's when we realized there was only the one bartender and lots of people to serve. My husband waited for over a half hour to get our drinks. I chose a chocolate orange martini that was also on the drinks special menu and it was delicious. The ambiance and decor of the library/bar and the dining room are what made the experience at this point. The library includes two fireplaces and very comfy couches and chairs. The dining room had one fireplace and a couple of couches as well. I ended up talking with another girl whose husband was also wanting for drinks at the bar and they had the same experience with the food and service. Their dishes also traveled around the room not knowing where to go, confirming that more organization is needed for better service.

Surprised by this venue - nice, elegant, historic, not dusty though!Drinks at the bar were great - service was very attentive w/o being overbearing.I had the filet - perfectly done!! The mashed potatoes were home made and the sauce paired perfectly. Wife had the seabass - equally happy!

Nice menu selection and wine list. They were busy on Saturday night and the servers were all hustling. Our waiter did an excellent job. Service was a touch slow but not annoyingly so. We were in and out in just over 2 hours with wine, appetizer, entrees and dessert. I had the Maine Lobster Fettuccine and it was delicious. Sauce was great flavor and consistency and not too heavy. Lobster meat tender and flavorful. My husband had the Nashville Hot Chicken, from what I understand is a newer item on the menu, which he enjoyed. We both had enough left to take home for a meal another night. We shared the homemade bumpy cake ala mode and it was perfect. I highly recommend a pre or post drink in the Library Bar as the ambiance is so inviting and cozy. I could hang out there all night. They had a little jazz band playing the night we visited. When dining most anywhere these days you need to be a little patient as short staffing is still an issue. Relax and enjoy your time there. It's a real gem.

I've been to the Detroit Club twice for drinks/apps but this was my first dinner experience. We made reservations on the same night they had a new menu tasting event (we we're not part of). First off, this place is gorgeous. Amazing historic location with lots of class and sophistication. The bar (separate from the dining room) is well worth a visit. They were clearly busier than usual, and it showed, but our server was prompt, friendly and professional. I had a ribeye and my wife had the lamb bolognese. I'd rate the food 4/5 and the service 4/5 but suspect both weren't their best given the large crowd. The local is a 6/5 if you love places with lots of Detroit history baked into the experience. So many great restaurants in Detroit and I have many I'd prefer for the culinary experience. Overall I'd recommend at least one visit here.

Extremely slow service but not in a fine dining paced courses way. It took 2.5 hours in a half empty restaurant to have an appetizer and our entrees for a table of 5. We finally said just bring whatever food is up, and all but one dish was ready. It took another 20 min for that dish to come up so I can only imagine how dry everything would have been if we didn't say just bring them. Beautiful place and the server was literally breaking a sweat trying to hustle but the logistics of this place are a nightmare. Seems like they are extremely short staffed or something. There's too many great other spots in Detroit to waste your day here for mediocre food and bad service.
