I was looking for a coffee and pastry after my hike in one of the nearby Metroparks one late Saturday morning. Although the boutique/cafe is charming, somewhat dark and lots of merchandise, there are no tables and chairs by the coffee ordering station. I suppose I could have sat on the couch. I was curious if I could sit at the bar in the back....but no one else was there drinking coffee. And the pastries, obviously store bought muffins, were unappealing. The woman behind the coffee counter had been busy with a customer for awhile, the gentleman behind the bar in the back was busy--I was not acknowledged --so I left.

Went to Blue Huron for some coffee. The inside is very beautiful with a mellow atmosphere. Seating very comfortable with leather couches and sofas. Good selection of coffee weather it's to drink or buying beans (ground or whole) to take to your home. I bought a caramel latte and it was very smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. I'd take this place over Starbucks any day. It's definitely a great place to relax, socialize with people, personal work or reading a book over coffee. The owner is very friendly as well. Enjoy!

It always makes me happy finding a unique small business in the Downriver area. I'm new to tea, and was originally going to drive out to the Tea Haus in Ann Arbor. However, a friend recommended I check out Blue Huron--I'm glad I did! The store has a very chill, relaxing vibe with unexpected items. In addition to a large coffee and tea section, there are many great gift items. Tea pots, purses, decor, etc. The best was that they sell their own Michigan made Balsamics! If you're newbie like me, you can sample various teas/coffees! The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. They also carry Harney & Sons tea. Although you can order it online, I'd MUCH prefer to spend my money locally--and you can try before you buy!

This place is so cute! I came here with my fiance, not knowing what exactly this place was. We weren't really sure where to park at first, but we figured it out. Inside, it's a cute little shop with trinket and gifts that you can buy -i noticed bags, lotions, and salts right off the bat. Up at the counter, the gentleman was patient with us seeing as we had never been in before, and brought our coffees to us at our table. The place has one or two tables and a large open lounge, which is really nice.Okay. The coffee itself. I got a raspberry macchiato. AMAZING. My fiance got a salted caramel coffee. He also liked his. He said it's worth waking up in the morning for. Prices are pretty reasonable, too. It cost about $7 for 2 small (delightful) coffees. Before we left, I thought to pick up some lemon balsamic vinegar, and the gentleman talked me into the cranberry pear balsamic vinegar instead. They actually have quite a selection, and the guy seems like he can recommend one for just about anything you'd think to put it on, plus you can taste them yourself before deciding. The lady there said they go well with ice cream too, which I'll have to try, I think.

I'm a first timer to Blue Heron and this is by far the best coffee I've had in a long time where they made it and it was perfect without me having to add any cream or sugar. I got a simple vanilla latte and the prices are super reasonable while you also get a generous amount of coffee/espresso depending on the drink you get. The owners were some of the sweetest people I've ever met and the establishment itself has this vintage, rustic feel and I absolutely adored it! Super welcoming, homely and cozy! Definitely wish I had more time to spend there. Might have to start sitting in and doing homework there on the days that I'm able! While Mark was making my drink, he told me about all of the exciting Christmas events going on in Flat Rock where I also learned he's a councilman for and I just really appreciate the genuineness of the experience and will absolutely be back again! They definitely displayed gracious hospitality and as someone who's worked in the service business for a very long time, it's always super refreshing to spend your money at businesses where they hold the same values as you. I would spend my money here before Starbucks any day!Hope to see this business in place for a very long time!

I really like this spot in Flat Rock. There's such a nice feel and warm environment to the place, and the staff are really great. Blue Heron is what my local coffee spot should be. If you're looking for a spot to have a coffee and relax, this is a spot to try! I've had both their hot coffee and nitro cold brew, and both were great. Their prices are reasonable and are on-par with other local coffee shops that I have visited. I stop here sometimes after a long Saturday morning bike ride, and they have great gifts, food items, etc available as well. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Flat Rock, MI area.

Blue Heron has a very rustic and woodsy feel to it when you walk in. It seems relatively new, I guesstimate that because of the very sweet owner having to look down at a cheat sheet. I kept it simple house coffee iced with two and two. The roast was a good one but I highly recommend you give the order as definitely as possible, just to ensure you're getting what you want. The owners were so sweet that I'm giving them a good rating and I believe one they have a bit more confidence they will do well. There are many things to look and and numerous coffee options. So give it a try but go slow and take your time ordering.

Nice gem in Flat Rock, good coffee and lattes to drink within or take on the road as you head to or from your destination. Excellent bagged ground or whole bean bags of coffees. Stop in and give yourself a perfect pickup.

Very quaint but fully equipped home town specialty market. There is something for everyone there. I am an avid fan of the different kinds of vinegars and oil. You won't be disappointed with your visit or purchases.
