Bellflower is all around fantastic. The interior is simple and modern, they also a small side patio during the warmer months. I've been twice with different friends and had consistently great experiences. The service is on, relaxed, friendly attitude while taking care of the table. The menu is focused, and the better for it, and still difficult to decide on what to order. For better or worse, the menu is always changing depending on what is available fresh. While a bit of a drive from me, I'd return again.

Stopped by The Bellflower for dinner, drawn in by its laid-back look and friendly vibe. Service was welcoming and warm, which set a nice tone for the evening. They have a natural wine option (always a plus), and I tried one from Sicily that was really nice. The atmosphere was cool--airy, arty, and full of plants, with a quiet club beat playing. It's a neat space, not exactly cozy, but perfect if you're into a more minimalist vibe. Outdoor seating was a plus, and it was lively but with plenty of open tables on a Tuesday night. Food-wise, the bread and butter was a T otal standout--freshly baked, slightly salty, and a touch sweet. The kale salad was another highlight, really fresh and herby, likely thanks to their local, organic ingredients. On the other hand, the salmon cakes were just okay, not particularly memorable, same with the eggplant curry. Dessert was bread pudding, which was good if a little too sweet, though the caramel and heap of cream were nice touches. The cocktail menu was well-rounded, so if wine's not your thing, there's plenty to explore at the bar.All in all, The Bellflower has its charm, especially if you're after a casual spot with fresh, locally sourced food.

WOW! I've been trying to get my wife to go here for at least six months. I felt certain this was a special place from all I'd read (and seen in pictures) about it. Finally, we went there yesterday. We both ordered a fried shrimp sandwich, her also getting a chocolate chip/something else cookie, me two oysters. On just barely taking my first bite into the sandwich I fully realized I had been correct about this being a great restaurant! All I had tasted at that point was just the bun, and it was wonderous. The shrimp are larger than you'd expect, and there are a lot of them in the sandwich. The bread is fantastic, them making their own on site I gather. The sandwich is quite filling too, and for the quality of it and it being as large as it is, it is an absolute steal for how it is priced! The sandwich was simply exquisite. My oysters were great too. Surprising me, she said she wasn't sure if she'd get the cookie again, but she didn't finish it, so took it with her. About an hour later she was sitting in the car when she dropped the cookie, it landing on the floor mat. The floor mats hadn't been cleaned in several years, but she still ate the cookie anyway. So, I'll let you decide what she thought of it. We probably will be up there next week for a dinner. And we will doubtlessly be frequenting this place a lot now that I finally got her to try it.

Had a great dinner with a friend here. The menu changes frequently so if you want to have an idea before hand you should check their website. I really enjoyed the duck gumbo which came with a perfectly crispy chicken cutlet and a side of vegetables. I tried one of their cocktails which was super tasty and not too sweet. Their bread pudding with hazelnuts was amazing and served with a scoop of ice cream. Even though they have a more limited dinner menu, my friend and I didn't have a single thing that wasn't delicious. The service was friendly and lowkey and it's a cute restaurant set up.

Valentine's Day lunch in Ann Arbor was disappointing. We've had the shrimp sandwich here at the end of summer and it was to die for...delicious. But today's lacked the delicious taste we had waited for all week. Can't really say what was different...perhaps the sauce on the sandwich, I'm not sure but we have always had the best meals here every other time. The shrimp is always spectacular as well as their perch for dinner. Don't know if we'll be back for lunch but definitely for dinner.

I forgot what the name of this dish was but it was some kind of spanish sausage meatball? It was something I had never tried before and tasted fine! My friends like the congee they got. I think it was a bit expensive for what we got but they do have happy hour for drinks! The service was very quick and it was easy to find parking.

Excellent place. Came here tonight with my fiance, a friend, and her boyfriend.I had the Ypsi Local Honey drink and my fiance had the Pep in my Step, with mezcal, and we each enjoyed our drinks. The four of us shared the feta appetizer and it was delicious. For entrees, my fiance got the pork boudin, with cornbread and honey butter, and I thought it was really good, although he thought it was just okay.I actually wished I had ordered his dish, I ordered the vegan pasta and it was fine but I didn't think it was anything special. Something to note, I did order the olives on the side, since I don't like olives, so perhaps that is what was providing the taste. My friend's boyfriend ordered us an absinthe flight of sorts - we each had a cup and it was very cool, there was a sugar cube on top of each and the waitress brought us a big water pitcher to slowly drip the sugar in. Awesome presentation. There was only one dessert choice on the menu, the olive oil cake, and that was also delicious.Overall I thought everything here was fabulous except I thought the vegan pasta was just okay (especially at $29...). Presentation was exquisite overall and waitservice was fast and friendly. I do recommend making a reservation, as they do book up quickly I've heard. It's been a while since I've been to Ypsilanti (I went to UM and lived in A2 for four years though, 2005-09) and the area outside Bellflower did seem a little sketchy - the bus depot is right across the street and there was what I think was a strip club at the corner. However, parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays right next to the bus depot, which was appreciated, and it's only a block away from what I would consider downtown Ypsilanti (ie lots of bars/restaurants).

Had so much excitement before going to Bellflower to celebrate my newly wedded dear friends but sadly our brunch missed the mark on some major levels. The restaurant itself is very beautiful in an eclectic greenhouse kinda way. I loved the open kitchen concept and the design as well as the greenhouse style seating area with lots of windows. You order at the counter, grab your drinks, and then find a table of your liking where they bring out your food. They had a wide selection of beers and wine, and the oysters were half off for brunch! The oysters were on the smaller side but still refreshing as an appetizer. The salad was really good too, and I liked how they use locally sourced produce, which made it very fresh. The side of canned sardines added a nice touch. We ordered a mix of sandwiches including fried fish, fried shrimp, pimiento cheese, and the hot Italian. They brought the wrong item out two different times, once giving a shrimp sandwich to someone who had a shrimp allergy, which was concerning. The worker who was taking our order was also serving the sandwiches and did seem new. The floors were also extremely slippery, resulting in a bunch of us almost slipping and the worker slipping while serving the food. The other two fried fish sandwiches and side of beans and rice did not come out for another hour. Usually I take into account how busy the restaurant is and how much help is currently in staff but at that time even thought there was one server and two chefs, the restaurant only had our party of eight so this seemed a like a very long delay. When we finally went to look for our order because the rest of our party was finishing their food and getting ready to go, we saw our sandwiches and food items sitting on the counter. At this point of time, there were a few people ordering and picking up to/go orders so things were picking up pace. However, as we had ordered our items over an hour ago, we were baffled to see our items sitting there and getting cold while we were anxiously waiting for them. I approached the server and asked her why the items were taking so long to be served. She seemed very flustered but kindly offered to refund our items so I agreed, as at this point, we had to leave with our party for our next destination to take post wedding photos. The manager was called over to process our refund, and he seemed very brisk about the whole procedure. Even more sadly, the sandwich itself was pretty tasty but one of the slices of toast was a bit burnt. All in all, the food was not bad although on the pricier side but the lack of proper service really left a sour taste in our mouths. Also keep in mind that you will have to pay for street parking by the hour so that was another reason why we did not have the luxury to wait at the restaurant for more than two hours.
