This is located inside Detroit Shipping Company, a food hall with like 6 concepts. I got to try some of my friend's Pad Thai Roll...this thing was awesome! I'm not a huge burrito or pad thai person so I didn't order it for myself, but I was mesmerized by this thing! When she told me it was basically a burrito sushi roll with pad Thai inside, I didn't know she was being so literal. And wow, it was delicious! It's literally a "sushi roll" aka cut up pieces of the meal. It is wrapped in flour tortilla, and has pad Thai inside. I LOVE a unique meal and this was so fun, and so yummy!!!

I've been waiting to try this place for a while. Finally got a chance lat Sunday, and unfortunately I won't be back. The food is pricey for what you get. We've tried the most famous pad thai roll made vegan with tofu, and tofu bad buns. The baos were nothing to write home about, just fried pieces of tofu drizzled with some teriyaki sauce and cabbage. To little sauce to make it even good. The pad thai roll was disgusting. It was mostly noodles with few pieces of tofu wrapped in wheat tortilla. The sauce that was on top reminded me of cheap, terrible panda express sauce. I couldn't even eat it. The presentation was beautiful, but it tasted horrible.Maybe you have to order something else? Don't know, but I've no idea what people rave about this pad thai roll.

This restaurant was inside a marketplace with several other vendors/restaurants serving food. I went with a pad Thai roll. Being a street food item,My imagination had no limits. Instead of noodles being the base, it was a roll as the title suggests. While the item tasted good and had a different take on pad Thai, I like for it to be in its original form. Nonetheless, it was good experience. And something off of my bucket list.

Ordered at Bangkok 96 Street Food last night as I decided to try Detroit Shipping Companies offerings after a nearby event was canceled. The customer service was awesome. There was a woman there who was very attentive and accommodating. However, the guy who was ringing the orders should've been more straightforward in explaining menu items and costs.I ordered the grilled salmon and shrimp, which was $18. The piece of salmon was ample and cooked well. The shrimp were succulent, but a tad over. I wished that the food had more flavor. I ordered a side of aioli as an attempt to impart more flavor, but it was really bland. Finally, I ordered soy sauce and chili oil to boost the experience. It was an ok meal, but it took too much doctoring to get it to where I wanted it.

We stopped here before going to a show at The Masonic around 5:30 on a Saturday, very hectic inside Detroit Shipping Co. They have 2 kiosks to order from or you can go to the counter if you have cash or tokens. The kiosk lines were long and I had cash, so I ordered there. I waited at least 30min for the food. I ordered the pad Thai roll, spring rolls and walking crispy dumplings on sticks. The pad Thai Roll was ok, the noodles and chicken inside seemed unseasoned, all of the flavor was in the sauces and toppings on the outside of the wrap. I mean, just plain noodles and plain chicken inside??? I frequent the orig Bangkok 96 for Pad Thai, so this was a let down. We enjoyed the crispy dumplings, a good portion and very shareable, I'm just noticing the receipt says "no spice" but I was never asked if I wanted spice and I would've likes some spice.. The spring rolls weren't anything special.

I used to go to Bangkok 96 Street Food for their curry noodle soup - it had a rich curry broth with perfectly textured rice noodles and complimentary toppings. Then in 2022 they permanently removed it from their menu (it still appears on the Detroit Shipping Company website, but is never orderable) and I stopped going. I decided to give another dish a try this time since I was in the area. Crispy Fried Chicken Rice Bowl ($13) - I meant to order the Thai Hot chicken rice pasta noodle, but I clicked the wrong option, oops. I still gave it a fair shake. This dish came with a large portion of boneless, chopped, fried chicken, topped with mayo and siracha, some steamed broccoli on the side, on top of a bed of glutinous rice. The fried chicken was barely crispy - the problem is that even for eat in orders, Bangkok 96 immediately puts the plastic lid on, which allows the fried chicken to steam and lose the crispy edge. The broccoli was appropriately steamed - soft florets and a firmer stem. For some reason this broccoli was quite bitter tasting, which was a bit off-putting. The rice was also not great - way too dry for a properly cooked glutinous rice. Some rice grains were hard, like they had previously prepared the rice and let it dry out in the open air for several hours. The food here certainly isn't the best, but it's good to try. I do wish they would bring back some of their old noodle soup offerings.

The Shrimp Bowl was so delicious!!! From the sauce to the perfectly cooked shrimp. 10/10 would recommend. Also got the Crispy Chicken Dumplings - absolutely the highlight of the show. I think about 6-8 come in there, definitely shareable. Came out fairly quickly, didn't have a long wait and the workers were so kind. It's located in this kind of food market so good for take out or dine in for a very casual chill vibe. Parking is available directly beside the building.

Returned last night after 3-4 years, and was pleased but not blown away. My friend's first time eating there and he shared the same sentiments. Candied beef- amazing! Very crispy yet tender (make it make sense!), and the sweet/spice level was perfect for me (I chose medium). If you really want the sweetness to dominate I would chose mild or no spice. Curry chicken- this was a strange one but very tasty. Strange in that I detected zero coconut nor curry, but there was a plentiful amount of very nicely grilled chicken with this smoky/spicy glaze. My friend had the fried chicken bowl and also fried chicken bao buns which were both pretty good. Chicken was nicely fried and the bowl had some kind of sweet and creamy sauce on it.

I love a good pad Thai. Therefore, I was under the impression that their pad Thai roll would be incredibly delicious. However, one bite of this $13 roll and I was left was super duper disappointed. Even be employee convinced me to purchase this off their menu. Not at all tasty. Flavor was lacking. What I am more heartbroken over is the mango sticky rice :(

Fantastic! We tried Detroit Shipping Company on a very busy Sunday afternoon and Bangkok 96 killed it!I placed a mobile order for candied beef and bao buns and my food was ready before I had finished wading through the drink line. I ran my drinks to the table and then went back downstairs to pick up my food and it was glorious! The bao buns were amazing. The bun itself was soft and pillowy, but had a good structure. The fried chicken and sauce perfectly complemented one another and was delicious and combined with the sticky rice, everything just had a great texture. The candied beef was also awesome! I got mine medium spiced and it was HOT! I love to eat hot food, but I don't pretend that I can handle all levels of spice. The flavor of the beef was pungent and it was more like jerky, so it wasn't swimming in sauce, but it was full of great flavor.Lots of people had the Pad Thai Roll, which looked amazing and I would very much like to try it, but I'm happy with what I got. It was all great. The folks working the kitchen seemed happy and were very friendly as well, so that's a bonus. As mush as I want to try some of the other stalls, I'd probably just come back here the next time we stop by.
