Bandito's Restaurant

I stopped by Bandito's for lunch on Friday around 1 PM with a friend. It was not very busy and we were told we could where we liked. The wait staff was quick but could have been a bit friendlier. The waitress was very nice but most of the time we were serviced by a man. He was rather short with responses and nearly dropped my friend's plate in front of her when he brought our food from how quickly he was moving, and then departed the table immediately afterwards. Every interaction with the male waiter felt rushed. The restaurant itself was very clean and lots of natural light. A very nice place to grab lunch or dinner with friends and family. The food was good.Would give a 5/5 if it were not for the demeanor of the waiter.

Stopped by after college football game for dinner. Inside is nicely decorated and spacious. Allowed to seat yourself after being handed menus. Ordered queso and it came out pretty quick. That's about all the nice things I have to say. My son ordered Baja chimichanga with beef and chicken. It looked delicious coming out with beans that had cheese mixed in and rice. Unfortunately, there was zero flavor on the meat. I ordered two soft tacos that were bland. The food was so flavorless it looked like I didn't try anything. While the two dinners were reasonably priced, feels like I should have just sent it back for something else. . . that would have taken another 20+ minutes.

I had been wanting to try this since I heard that all their meat is halal. I went here for dinner with a friend and was so surprised by the kind and thoughtful service! I couldn't decide what meat to get so I got three crunchy tacos one with shredded chicken, one with ground beef and one with pulled beef. We also got the chips and salsa. It was soo tasty and fresh! All were delicious but the pulled beef was PHENOMENAL! The food was so delicious and the vibes were nice. I will most definitely be eating here again!

Bandito is a unique, full of personality restaurant that deserves more recognition than the hidden behind a building location allows. I live in Southern California where Mexican restaurants are on every corner, and I've never experienced a restaurant quite like this one. The décor is very unique and quite professionally done. The food is nicely prepared and by most standards not spicy. Ask for a side of jalapeños if you want more heat. Note that this is an owner-operated establishment, not a corporate restaurant. This makes for a more unique experience in culinary, personal interaction, and décor areas. Engage the owner to experience his unique personality and give your meal experience more depth.

PRO:*Convenient to the location of my meeting and allowed for sufficient time to eat.* Free refills on popCONS: * I knew I was in trouble when I entered (a) the place was empty at 12:15 pm when there should have been a lunch crowd. Three tables out of 24 + (?) occupied.* We were greeted with hi. Take a menu and sit yourself. The tone was surly. Who does that to a customer?* The chips were delivered cold, and the salsa was weak (little spice) and runny.* My companion ordered chicken enchiladas without comment. Look in ANY recipe book for a picture of chicken enchiladas--red sauce (tomato-based) almost exclusively. This is UNLESS you order Enchiladas Suizas. The issue is that my companion is gluten intolerant, and nowhere on the menu does it state that the sauce for this dish is thickened with flour. When my companion asked for it to be remade traditionally, the waitress's reaction was that it was her fault that she didn't inform the surly gentleman (NOT her) of the food allergy. After all, she replied yes when she asked to ensure the tortillas were corn. No issue. She stated that she could not have a flour tortilla for the above reason.With reluctance, the dish was remade. Thanks...*My taquitos were overcooked and dry. My ground beef taco was good, with plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. However, it was very bland.We will not visit again. I am sure that they will not miss us.

Host was extremely nice and clean establishment. Food was good and prompt. Great atmosphere. The salsa was awesome!! I recommend for sure.

I cannot say enough positive about this restaraunt! This is truly family owned and operated with perfect portions of freshly made food. Each time I have visited I have noted that I need to come back soon. There are lots of clean tables and plenty of parking. Somebody is also usually popping in for take-away. Frankly, the only reason I can think of the place is not mobbed is that it is tucked away a bit from Plymouth Road.It is in a very small complex close to US23. If you are staying at a nearby hotel, visiting UM North Campus, or anywhere near the US23 Plymouth Riad exit, making a minor effort find this will reward you heavily, making you thankful you did not do yet another fast food restaurant or spend money at an inferior hotel restaurant. You can appreciate the Corona beer bottle piñatas and comfortable service and expect freshly prepared rapidly delivered food that I have found to be consistent over time.

Chimichangas had a $5.00 up charge for ground beef even though the chimichanga was filled mostly with rice and beans . Couldnt find the beef in it.Over priced compared to other mexican restaurants.

The food is not good. I went for lunch and got a chicken taco and a chicken tostada. Both dishes were very poorly seasoned. The chicken was flavorless and unseasoned. The tostada was mushy by the time I started eating it. My money was wasted. Do not go here. Taco bell literally tastes better.
