Aztecs Margarita Bar & Grill

We've been to most other Mexican places in town and were looking for something different this night. I always thought this was part of the similarly-named chain, but it's its own thing. The service and the family that owns it is a hoot, and really friendly and attentive. It's nice and cozy and colorful inside, with plenty of seating. We were told later that everything is homemade, and it shows! Salsas are delicious, so are sauces and all the food. We've been back a few times already, and get the same great food each time. Food comes out pretty quick, and they have a good amount of options. I will definitely try some other things, I'm looking forward to the puffy tacos. It's some great Mexican food!

My wife and I walked in expecting nothing and we were both pleasantly surprised and walked out satisfied. It was a slow Wednesday evening and we were the only people inside. We started with mango margaritas and guacamole. The chips were nice and thick and perfect for dipping. The guac was excellent. It had flavor and it was nice and salty. The house salsa was also really good. Ones mild and ones a bit hotter. Nothing that you can't handle, I promise. I went with the fish tacos and my wife got the puffy tacos with ground beef. I had a bite of hers and it was amazing. I've had it from another place, and never found it to be special but this was different. The fish tacos were also amazing, they had a nice crunch to it and the slaw was perfect. I dipped it in the house salsa and I have zero complaints. This is a place worth trying out for sure and we are tossing it into our rotation!

I don't recall this place charging extra for a second basket of chips or a second bottle of salsa (small to begin with). Is this a newer change? I don't like it. The cheese dip wasn't as good. The quesadillas and grilled chicken tacos were just okay. The flautas were soggy and disappointing, that's the down side of flour flautas. Corn is way better for flautas. The Food was not as good as our first and last visit.

After moving to Michigan from Southern California, I knew it might be tough to find good Mexican food. The first few places I tried were more disappointing than expected so I stopped even trying. When I saw this place on Yelp, I thought it might be worth a shot and boy am I glad we went for it! The chile relleno was fabulous, with the right cheese inside and everything! The staff was accommodating, friendly with my kids and very helpful. Service was fast and attentive. The manager stopped by a few times to chat and shared the backstory of how Azteca came to be (and the nonsense about some chain trying to steal their name!! This is the original!)The house margarita was passable, but I will be sure to try the Cadillac next time. Since I drive this way pretty often, I am excited to come again!

They really do a nice job here. It's family run and they are friendly and make good food for you. If you don't want to head all the way downtown from Mexican, I would come here!

Wife and I have been coming here for a years and the food and service has always been great. If you're looking for a chain Mexican restaurant don't bother stopping. This is the good stuff with flavorful food and a friendly staff. Brought a group of 10 in the other day and they had a blast starting with homemade sangria and margaritas and ending with dessert.

We walked in and were sat right away. It wasn't full, but we were a little early for the dinner rush (about 5 PM). Service was great and quick especially for a Friday night. Husband got the house margarita and it was very large. The food came quickly and was good I forgot to take a picture before I started eating it (sorry!). I ordered the traditional enchiladas, which were filled with cheese and had a very delicious and not spicy at all sauce. Husband ordered the California burrito and it was huge! He enjoyed it very much. There was definitely more than we could eat. We both have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

This is our go to spot when ever my wife and I get a chance to go out and enjoy a meal together. It's always fantastic and delicious. Their food is authentic and seasoned to perfection. Is a family owned business and they are very welcoming all the time! I can not recommend them enough!!

We have been to this restaurant several times and went again yesterday evening (7/16/24). It's a family owned business and they are so friendly! They always treat us like good friends even though we aren't regulars. The owner teases us about ordering drinks even though we don't drink alcohol. I always get the create your own combo but my husband is more adventurous. Last night he had the chicken quesadilla and said it was excellent. We finally saved room for dessert (I took half my dinner home) and had the Tres Leches cake. It was divine! My husband (who has worked in Mexico for months at a time) said it was good or better than any he's ever had before. It's a small location in a small strip mall but so worth it to us. We have even taken some friends from out of town who love Mexican food and they also said it's some of the best they've ever had. We will definitely go back!
