Athenian Shish Kebob

Great service. I had a medium great salad with gryo meat. The meat was great and I liked the salad dressing. It was heavy on the meat and made a great meal. A solid Greek salad.

We have always been fans of Athenian Shish Kebob. The staff is always super friendly with fast service. The restaurant itself looks like an old diner and clearly could use a face lift, but don't let the appearance deter you from trying the place since the food is delicious. They have an open kitchen area and you can watch the cooks making everything fresh. While dining in, you can watch the steady stream of carryouts go out, they are always so busy.Tonight we dined in. We started our meal with the Saganaki. It was delicious as expected. The only complaint, like very other restaurant who serves Saganaki, is the price. It was like $8 for the Saganaki with 4 quarters of bread, so basically $2 per serving.For dinner I ordered the Gyro pita sandwich deluxe meal which came with a cup of soup or side salad and a potato of your choice. I chose lemon rice soup and French fries. Their greek salads are so yummy, but I love their chicken lemon rice soup. My whole meal was delicious.My husband ordered the Chicken Siciliano with mashed potatoes and gravy and a cup of lemon rice soup. We both loved our meals and had zero complaints about the delicious food!Athenian will remain on our list of places to go.

Been coming here for a looooong time. It's gone up and down with the quality, but has always been a favorite of ours. I rave to everyone about how good this place is. The last 3 times it has been awful. When I called and said they forgot my husbands meal, I was promised a side of gyro meat next time. She then continued to tell me it would be a "hefty side". I don't write reviews often, but I gave this place every opportunity to make it right and they couldn't. The kebab was dry, burger bun was completely soggy with pickle juice and the fries look like the fryer hadn't been changed in months. I'm taking my friend's advice now and going elsewhere. The chicken is also chewy and not cooked half the time. Also, learn how to treat your loyal customers better.

Just ok..... ordered a half fattoush salad and 2 chicken tawook sandwiches and a side of garlic. Fattoush Salad: The half order was a very generous size and very filling. The lettuce was good and the pita chips fresh. The dressing was just ok. No real flavor. It wasn't bad just wasn't good. Not something I would order again. Garlic Sauce: This is make it or break it for me when trying somewhere new. The sauce was just ok, again no real flavor. I prefer my garlic sauce to be very garlic flavored. Sandwiches: Chicken was fresh and good but the sandwich was just ok again. This is because the garlic sauce wasn't great and the pickles were weird. I feel like it was just ok...... for $30 I would have wanted much more flavor. Nothing was notably bad, the service was GREAT. Take out was fast. Food was fresh and hot just not full of flavor. Everything was very bland.

You could tell they were trying to be friendly but very overwhelmed and rushed as it was busy. I call for a carry out order and asked if there was a dinner special for shish kabob with veggies & rice with a side salad (as I had this before with grilled pepper & rice with/red sauce) She said yes, asked me if I wanted stir fry veggies or green beens which kinda through me off I assumed stir fry meant w/ peppers so I chose that and then confirmed side salad as my side. I got home, this was not what I had expected. There was no rice & red sauce and then their version of stir fry veggies. My side salad looks like I got the bottom of a bag of lettuce.. a lot of brown lettuce. Did not look fresh. This is usually my absolute favorite for a good kabob meal & their Greek dressing is obviously to die for.

2nd time I came for a carry-out. I live a 1/2 hour away but so good. I ordered a lot because I been driving by for years and never stopped. The gyro is delicious the fries are divine i ordered a large Greek salad and 1 beef and 1 chicken kabob. The meat is so tender and wonderful and tzatziki is great. Staff is friendly-it's a small place but delicious especially since my favorite Greek restaurant in Greektown went out of business. Even the rice is good. I will be back next time I'm gonna try something different. Worth the drive!!!

Cute little diner with ampleClean seating and super polite staff.First the good: the Greek salad dressing was really good with very tasty pita bread. Rosa Marina soup which is tomato soup with orzo and veggies was very good.For dinner had the spinach pie, moussakka and gyro platter. All were decent but would recommend Parthenon on Jefferson which is only few minutes for Better trio platter

My tried to call to order and order take out that the person who answered the phone was incredibly rude to her told her they were closing early and hung up the phone on her. I haven't had this place yet and after that I don't think I will be anytime soon. Not to mention a shish ka bob is almost 20$

My family used to visit here all the time and I loved it! I used to order the chicken tenders & the lemon rice soup, and it was great. Recently we started ordering takeout from here again. My new favorite order is the gyro pita dinner, which comes with rice & a salad. I absolutely love it and find myself craving this meal all the time. Everything is so fresh and portions are a large size for the affordable price! This can feed me for two meals since I always have leftovers. One thing to note however, is that the lemon rice soup was not as good as I remember it to be, but maybe it was just a bad batch.Employees are friendly on the phone and it is usually about a 15-20 min wait for takeout which is not bad at all considering I order at peak times.Highly recommend visiting here if you are in the mood for a fantastic gyro!

The food is good.. Unfortunately every time I come in here the owners have cranked the price up on everything. Many restaurants have done the same, but this isn't the first increase since Covid. In addition they now charge $.85 for taziki in the smallest ramekin. Doesn't even come with the meal. Not even an oz. This is just greedy. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth that over powers the delicous food. Lastly they have decreased the portion sizes.
