Our company just completed a huge project in the North Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. We decided to take our leadership team out for a celebratory dinner and chose Alpino.Dave and his staff outdid them selves last night! The food and service was impeccable. Our meal was served family style. Every single dish in every course was on point, fresh, and well thought out.The unusual European wines that Dave selected for our dinner were the hit of the night.

Incredible food! My best friend and I shared the cheese fondue as our starter and it was perfection. I loved having apples, sourdough bread, and mini potatoes for dipping. The Jaegerschnitzel was fantastic! Crispy and flavorful, and the mushroom sauce on top was divine. I love mushrooms and I was thrilled they were mixed in with the Spätzle too, along with yummy cheese. Yes please! The gurkensalat was refreshing.I loved my dessert. I had the Bonet and if you like chocolate, caramel, and hazelnut, you will enjoy this. I tried my friend's Rosette dessert and it was very fruity, crisp, and delicious.Tasty cocktails and mock tails. We also enjoyed decaf lattes with dessert.I loved the alpine themed decor to go along with the delicious food. Such a cozy and lovely vibe. Private parking lot. Reservations recommended. Excellent service. Jenny was fantastic! She even ran outside to hand me the leftovers I had forgotten.I can't wait to come back!

9-18-2024We had a fabulous experience. The ambiance is serene and definitely "alpine". Our server Robyn was both helpful and minimal.Stand outs were the raclette and rosti. I would recommend this place as a Detroit "must". 5 stars!

Food was absolutely delicious. Wine menu was also very interesting and started with some Swiss pinot Grigio. The fondue was fun and different, cheese was very good. The polenta and duck dish exceeded my expectations and was an excellent combination of flavor and texture. The dessert, "rosette", also blew us away with its flavor profile and texture. I don't usually like hard puff pastries but it was the perfect amount and broke effortlessly with the spoon to go nicely with the pumpkin butter and ice cream.

It pains me to write this because the food is really good (in the past), but the staff is awful. At 7:00pm on a cold, snowy Monday the place was pretty dead. Despite that, I sat down at the bar for a warm bowl on goulash and a couple drinks. However, I was completely ignored by the bartender for nearly 20 minutes. I might understand if it was busy, but it was not at all (only two other people at the bar). I have no idea what the bartender's problem was, but she did literally zero. I know this shouldn't matter, but I was dressed very well, courteous, etc, didn't matter. No service at all. So I just got up and left. I'm not going to give my money to a place that doesn't respect me. There are plenty of other options around. No one should be treated the way Alpino treats people. Shameful.

I love to rave about restraunts and most of my reviews are highly rated (unless it was really just bad), but I wish I could give this one 10 stars. One if the best meals ever. We sat at the bar and had a fabulous bar tender who was fun, helpful, and made the night spectacular. We literally went on vacation in Detroit just to go to this restaurant after seeing it in the New York Times. It did not disappoint. The cucumber salad was simply inspiring and i dont even like cucumbers. I've tried recreating it several times. I'd eat that salad every day. Alas, another trip to Detroit must be in order. Everything was epic. The sliding cheese on top of salty prosciutto is as good as it looks. The spatzel with the morel sauce--like how can something so uncomplicated be so damn good! It was a slow night, maybe a Tuesday, so we talked to severel different staff, got their opinions on other places to try, and they were all just so much fun and they know what hospitality means.

Delicious food. Clean, modern but cozy ambiance. We were able to get a reservation at the bar. Good service. I would suggest you get a reservation if you want to go there. Very busy. I was hoping for some Austrian type pastries;however, what they had was very good. The premise of restaurant is food from the Alps.

Wow wow wow! What a great meal. We grabbed a reservation at the bar and then had an amazing meal! The ambience was so comfy and beautiful! The wood fire really took the chill out of this cold winter day. Our server was so helpful and did an amazing job pacing our food perfectly. We started with a few cocktails, a mezcal one and one with aquavit. Both were perfect! We shared the Raclette to start, it was all the gooey, cheesy goodness you can imagine. It was hard to choose from the amazing vegetable choices, so we got three: the celeriac soup (Get this!!! It was perfect!), the chicory salad (so bright and with hints of bitter - it was amazing!) and the kale salad (I would eat way more kale if it was served like this!). We felt like one entree to share was the way you go, so we ordered the polenta with duck confit. Come on!!!! Soooo goood! I will be coming back again, as there were other things I wanted to try. There was fondue, other amazing pastas, and some other entrees that were tempting me. It was difficult to decide. They also have an amazing wine list. There were some lovely desserts, but we were too stuffed to try them. What a great restaurant! Thank you for an amazing meal, Alpino!

The restaurant was very pretty & we were able to get a seat right by the fireplace. Food & service were very good and we liked the interesting ingredients & menu. My only negative comment is it is loud & tough to have conversations. But all in all, a cool dining spot with unique menu.

We had a reservation here for Valentine's Day. What a charming little restaurant. The ambience was wonderful. The service was great - we received excellent suggestions from our waiter on both the pacing of the meal and which menu items they recommended. They suggested we have the raclette as a first course, the potato rosti as a second course, and then the entree items as a separate third course. This was executed perfectly, in terms of timing and the table being cleared between courses. The raclette and the rosti were exceptionally delicious. Unfortunately, the Wienerschnitzel and polenta totally missed the mark. Both were lukewarm when they came out, with the polenta straight up cold in some bites. The schnitzel was woefully bland and desperately needed some salt or some form of flavor. I enjoying the texture but with each bite I was searching for some excitement or enjoyment that wasn't there at all. For the price of the meal and all the pomp and circumstance of the restaurant, I believe serving cold food is completely unacceptable. And the entree course being the worst part of the meal was just a real bummer. Also, this place is a bit silly pretentious and I felt like I was in an episode of Portlandia irl. Just sayin.
