It was really nice to get dressed up and have a party again. This restaurant usually seats 180 but we were able to close it for 45, which allowed everyone to have a family party but still distance. All staff had gloves and masks. Food is always plentiful and delicious. Lots of vodka and appetizers.

Allegro is not a place you will notice from the street or the primary parking lot. It is located on the far backside of a strip mall (Yotsuba is the anchor tenant).I give the food 4-stars and my dining companions and the people watching 5-stars. The facility was clean, well maintained and decorated in 1990's fashion - 3-star rating. The people watching was spectacular on Feb 15th. Dunno if it was the Valentines holiday, or their usual crowd. Plenty of parking ...Our waiter highly recommended the sturgeon and marinated lamb. The sturgeon was cooked over a wood flame; and was wonderful. This kitchen knows how to cook sturgeon. The portion was generous and I was able to take one piece home.My bride was very happy with the marinated lamb, cooked medium. Again; the portion was generous.Hot food was served hot. Cold food was served cold. The Merlot and Pino were ... nothing special. Glad that I did not order the (Russian?) beer that one of our guests was drinking. Our waiter mentioned that they do a lot of group events. We were dining ahead of the group(s) in the facility that night and had one teenie food problems. The roasted potatoes were dusted w/parmesan; so one plate returned for (re)plating with parmesan-free potatos. For me, the potatoes were the weakest dish of the night. Will I return? An emphatic, yes!Reservations? It was quite difficult to make our reservation. I called ~20 times over two weeks before they answered the phone. I probably left ~7 message ... no callbacks.

A totally unique experience. It is a Russian celebration restaurant. Almost all the people are there celebrating. Some were there for a wedding. There were several anniversaries and lots of birthdays. Big family's at long tables. Lots of very pretty women dressed up. A band playing popular music, but the lyrics were in Russian. The dance floor was full, and everybody having fun. Lots of kids running around. It reminds me of going to a fun wedding without the speeches. People watching is great. They give people a bottle of wine and vodka with the feast, so lots of heavy drinking and people really having a great time. We were celebrating an anniversary 4 people and we are not Russian. We brought a couple of Classic French champagnes. They charge a $20 corkage, but they only charged us corkage on one bottle. You need to make reservations for the weekend. You will not be able to just walk in. When you make the reservation order the feast. If you don't, you will have to order off the menu, which we had to do. Still, the food was very good right off the menu. As appetizers we had the cold fish platter (which was very good) and a meat platter which consisted of sliced pork, salami, and what I think was cows tongue (sounds awful, but tasted good). Also, a rolled stuffed egg plant ( delicious) and a classic Russian potatoes salad with mayo peas and diced chicken breast (very good). For main courses we had the sturgeon which was just great. Chunks of sturgeon very moist and flavorful. We also had the lamb chops. Really great, American lamb, which you can tell from the size of the eye, which is big ( which is more expensive, but so much better then the Australian or New Zealand) they cut them double boned ,very generous, the only thing that would make them better is if they put them on a char broiler, they are an A, but would be a A + if charbroiled . Had the potatoes, I saw another comment that the potatoes were not good, but ours were great. They were little red skin potatoes cut into chunks and fried (steamed first?). Very good. 2 desserts, ice cream cake and Napoleon, very good. I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonableness of the check. Beware, they add an 18% tip to the check. You probably won't want to tip twice. HAD A GREAT TIME!!!

If you want a unique dining experience, head over to Allegro, a Russian restaurant unassumingly tucked away behind a few other establishments off Orchard Lake. I went with over a dozen other people on a Saturday night, and everyone had a great time.My one friend made reservations at least a month in advance. We all had to decide on either ordering a la carte or a few courses for a fixed price. We opted for the latter, which was $50 (not including tip). She went there a few days earlier to choose the menu for the different courses: a variety of hot and cold starters, three entree items, and a fruit platter. The cost also included bottles of wine and vodka (along with a pitcher of cranberry juice for a mixer), pop, and coffee. The food was good, plentiful, and nicely presented. As a newbie to Russian cuisine, it was a great way to sample different foods. The lamb entree was a standout. There were a couple of other groups there, including an anniversary party, and a band played Russian and English-language pop songs later in the night. It was like being at a wedding, complete with a couple kids running around.(They did serve wine and vodka, and they had a small bar, but I don't know if they also served other alcoholic beverages like beer or other liquors.)

If you are looking for an experience that is different unique and ethnic. This is the place for you ! The cuisine is Russian and Southern Russian (Armenian, Georgian based dishes) like kabobs and lamb chops. There is a band for your listening and dancing pleasure on Friday and Saturday nights because a lot of family celebrations take place at this restaurant. Don't be taken back by the festivities of people eating, drinking and dancing at the same time. Embrace a different culture and enjoy. Have fun and make a reservations they are busy most weekends.

This place is like a bad wedding reception venue from the early 90's, maroon color scheme and all. Complete with icicle lights encircling a mirrored-drop-tile ceiling above a small dance floor in the middle of the dining room. The glass cinder blocks built into the front wall of the building add a nice commie-chic touch,.I'm no Russian expert, but I've had great Russian food before, in other cities. We had pelmeni (dumplings) and they were 1/3 as good as I had hoped. We also had Tolma (stuffed grape leaves) and those were great, covered in dill and served with 80 fat grams' worth of sour cream on the side.We shared the lamb chops, and they were amazing. Cooked perfectly, seasoned well, a large portion, brought to the table piping hot. The sides that came with the entree were mediocre: steamed vegetables and rice pilaf. They didn't have tonic (at a Russian place where vodka ought to be consumed like water) and the wine list was really out of date.Really excellent food would have made up for the tatty environment, made it even endearing, but unfortuantely, the food wasnt quite good enough for that. I've heard some nights there's live music and lots of lively dancing, that might make for a redeeming culutral experience.

The food was cold, hair in my potatoes and the chef was rude and threatening. I threw up when I got home and called. The woman told me not to come back. Rude service, dirty out dated decor and gross food. I would never go back there again!

We just had a party with 45 people in Allegro last week for a special celebration with our family and friends. The dinner was absolutely delicious. We had 11 different kinds of cold and warm appetizers. The variety of food was amazing! The main course included their special Georgian style lamb chops, chicken kafta and red skin potatoes. It was a true feast!!!Our waiters, Sergei and Anton, we very friendly and helpful. Eric, who tended the bar, was very professional. And, the band was great !!! They started at 9 pm and played till past midnight. We all enjoyed their selection of music and their professional voices. Moreover, Garry, the owner, was very accommodating.I highly recommend this place for family events, group dinners or just for small parties.
