This place doesn't keep regular hours and don't be surprised if they don't have menu items in stock.

The wait time is out of this world! 35-40 mins just for a polish sausage and pie?? Orders place over the phone have to be paid over the phone. Didn't know the wait time until my order was complete and card already charged. I definitely would have passed. Sooo not sure why the wait was so long. I waited 45 mins and I had a driver so I decided to eat in the car. Glad I did because it wasn't even hot. Lukewarm. Definitely sad about it. I can definitely wait 30 to 45 minutes for anything considering a place is really busy, but if I have to wait that long I am definitely expecting my food to be hot.On to the desserts... the lemon pound cake loaf was thick, definitely made in somebody's grandma's kitchen lol so star for that forsure. The sweet potato pie?? Not sure, they are individually made, like little personal pies. Cute though.

I knew I was flying to Detroit and wanted to try out some excellent soul food. And so, I check on yelp 2 weeks till departure, found this place in Ypslanti, and bookmarked it. With a 4.5 stage average rating on Yelp, what's not to like. On a non chalant day on the last Friday of August 2019, I arrived here at A Taste of Soul by Biggie's around 11:45am. The restaurant itself was nestled in a quiet residential area and the restaurant itself seemed like a converted house. It was nice that they have a sign next to the street, so I saw that and pulled into the parking lot. The parking lot was kind of small, probably sporting about 6 parking spots at a time. You could find parking in the nearby residential areas though. I guess I beat the lunch rush, since there was nobody there when I came. When I pulled up, I saw a dude sitting at the back taking a break. When I entered through the front entrance, the dude came in from the back and took my order. It was a quiet day, so the ambiance was chill. I ended up ordering the barbecue rib dinner. I ordered up fries and mac & cheese for the sides. It came with cornbread too. I can't say that I've been to many soul food places, but the prices here was reasonable since the type of food served and the reputation was good. The overall experience here at A Taste of Soul by Biggie's was rather good and positive. I was here for about 1/2 hour and ended up eating my lunch nearby at a neighborhood park. A Taste of Soul by Biggie's is located at 1004 W Michigan Avenue here in beautiful Ypslanti, Michigan. They accept major credit cards, so that's always a good thing for local folks and those passing through. As mentioned before, they have parking options, but if it is full up, you would need to find other options nearby. Not sure of the public transportation system here, but definitely do check out Uber or Lyft to get you here whenever you need to. For the most part though, I though that the portions given were not adequate based on the price. They could have given maybe ¼ to 1/2 more on top of the original serving size, which would have made it worth the $11.99 + tax. The barbecue was tight though and it has been ages since I had mac & cheese. It was petty nice. The taste of the fries was great. Definitely an alternative to your familiar tastes at Burger King or McDonalds for sure. The décor of the restaurant is mostly counter service with a couple of tables and chairs for those of y'all who want to dine in.The restaurant itself is clean and you could tell about the homespun vibe to it. They have bathrooms there, but not sure about there is public wifi available for diners. I do admit that the purple chimney made this place stand out when people pass through on this street on a daily basis. The service was good, although I had to wait 20 minutes before my order was ready after ordering. After receiving my order, the dude at the counter made small talk with me. I talked about how I was passing through and found this place on yelp. One train of thought lead to another to where I was giving him ideas on what to do and see in Hawaii. Thought that was pretty interesting to add flavor to the experience. While this experience here at A Taste of Soul by Biggie's was essentially a take out affair, the service was good and friendly. It was nice to chit chat with the dude at the counter about stuff to do while in Hawaii. Not sure if he was the owner or not, but still great that I stopped in. The meal was delicious and hit the spot after being at 35,000 feet for essentially 12 hours from Honolulu. Recommended if you are in Ypslanti and need a touch of soul in your day.4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the food and service. 3.5 stars for the prices.Support local!B

I've been driving by Biggies for years and finally stopped in yesterday! OMG! It's so good. I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken , Mac&cheese and baked beans. It's by far the one of the most delicious fried chickens I've ever had. The seasoning is flavorful with perfectly cooked inside and juicy and crispy skin!!! I would seriously recommend trying if you haven't!!! I am a new customer for this restaurant and will keep going back!

Me and my Girlfriend showed up here on a Saturday night and it was great! I got the Rib dinner with Mac&Cheese and Mash potatoes and she got the Chicken dinner with fries and coleslaw. Loved all of it ! Well seasoned and great portions. The man behind the counter was super sweet and friendly and made sure we felt welcomed and served us with hospitality! Will definitely be back!

TERRIBLE RUDE service. when I tried calling in order they told me Its walk in only, when I went in to order, they told me it'll be 45-hour wait AFTER I paid. After I waited over 45 food wasn't done so I asked for refund, when I was telling owner what happened he was very rude & cutting me off saying "yeah okay okay okay". Can't support the ones we want to. SMH

My hopes where so high for this place but it was the WORST food I have ever put in my mouth. TOOK ONE BITE AND THREW IT ALL INTO THE TRASH WHERE IT BELONGS. Words cannot describe how terrible the food was. Unseasoned and overall disgusting food. Save yourself some time and money and don't order from this place. Absolutely disgusting that they charge $18 for short rib dinner and it was just straight up bones. Nasty!! What am I supposed to do with a plate of bones??? No meat. Just look at the picture, looks like dog poop and taste like shoe leather. Terrible. Mac and cheese from hell and how can you mess up cornbread??? 0 stars.
