Everything is made in house and packaged nicely. Known for their bánh bao- steamed buns! They have savory ones: pork, chicken, and salted egg. The sweet ones (custard buns) are called Bánh bao kim sa with two flavors: salted egg or durian. The custard buns had great flavor. They don't sell individual but in packs of 3 or 4 for $6. A little pricey but quality is there. They also make really good salted egg yolk cake, bánh bong lan trứng muối. This has been a super popular Vietnamese dessert in recent years. At De Viet Kitchen, the cake is perfectly moist and they put 6 whole egg yolks on top whereas other places use 1/2 or even just chopped up yolks. The presentation is mouthwatering. They also have several other items, do catering, and custom cakes. Its a small storefront and clean. They run out quickly so call before hand or go early! I was lucky on a Wed late afternoon to get the last salted yolk cake! This bakery is next to Viet Hoa market.

It's a small shop with maybe 2 small tables which can sit up to 2 people for whoever wants to grab a quick casual lunch. I've tried their Banh Mi Nem Nuong ($3.95), Banh Bao ($3.00), and Pate Chaud ($1.25). Their Banh Mi Nem Nuong is really a must-try item. Their nem nuong is different from all other places & their sauce for this banh mi brings out so much flavor which makes a perfect combination of taste. Their nem nuong sauce (brown sauce) is really addicting so I would always ask for extra. Banh Bao comes with quail egg & 1/2 pc of salted egg yolk. It is also good but not the best. Pate Chaud is kind of small and less fillings for my preference. However, my friend did enjoy how they actually had "pate" in their fillings while most other places did not. The cashier (also the owner) was very nice & patient with all customers. However, I'm taking one star off because their pricing is quite higher than the average of everywhere else.

The only place (I'm aware of) that has banh mi with nem nuong (grilled pork sausage) as an option. Delightfully delicious every time. Consistent and quick to boot. I highly recommend. Small shop, but great service.

I called in before hand to order a cake and they delivered on time. The cake was very cake with elegant design!! It's nice for a change and something different. The worker told me that it was a french style cake so it's not sweet at all (it wasn't sweet). Good for the old Asian folks lol. My only problem is that I think the butter to cream ratio is off. Too much butter so the buttercream is really really thick and when you take it out the fridge it's hard like a stick of butter lol and leaves a funny taste (unless you're the type of person that likes to eat a tub of butter by itself). So in that case you'd have to wait a little and then eat it. There is also too little filling (very thin layer) and mostly cake but aside from that everything else is good and I do like it and would order again. They offer vanilla, chocolate, coffee and pineapple flavor inside their cakes. I got the coffee flavor and it was good, I've also tried the pineapple and the flavor was very very faint (couldn't taste). Price was OK ($40 for 8in.) you're mainly paying for the design, which is very beautiful. The pate chaud is also very good and one of the best I've had! It actually had a PATE in it unlike any where else I've tried.

Nothing is better than starting the day with a Vietnamese sandwich and a Vietnamese iced coffee. I have not had a Vietnamese sandwich for months... so this is about to be a good day for me I got the Char siu pork pate sandwich aka Banh mi xa xiu pate in Vietnamese. The sandwich was fresh, crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside... very yummy!!!

I stumbled upon De Viet Kitchen while on the hunt for the perfect place to order Mooncakes for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Although the prices were a tad higher than I had initially hoped for, the selection and size of their Mooncakes made up for it. De Viet Kitchen offers unique flavor combinations and ingredients that I couldn't find anywhere else. Aside from mooncakes, which are available 2-3 weeks before the festival, up until the weekend of the Festival, they offer a wide variety of small bites, snacks, pastries, and authentic Vietnamese dishes. I ended up leaving with the Scallop Combination and Traditional Combination Mooncakes and the BBQ Pork and Mushroom Chicken steamed buns. The owner, who was incredibly sweet and hospitable, even took the time to explain the significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival to my partner, cherry-on-top for our experience. The food was not only delicious but also authentic, plus the service was top-notch. I can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu.

Finally... Happy Mid-Autumn Day. It's September 21, y'all. I have been waiting for this day to buy De Viet Kitchen's famous moon cakes. It's not sold any other time. Mmm... Durian flavor. When they first started, all moon cakes have to be sold by a box of 4. It was $40 a box. I didn't have that kind of money to just try one. I was in a shopping frenzy this year because I want to share moon cakes with coworkers. I bought and tried a dozen of moon cakes (shhhh... I gained few pounds).I saw they sell single moon cake now. But they sold out of combination $15 - the only one has no durian. So, I got one Dua Sau Rieng - Durian Coconut Mooncake for $13.00. Yeah. It's pretty expensive for just one. But it's well worth it. I really wish they had ingredient label on the box. Other than coconut and durian flavored filling, I found an egg yolk. It's like EUREKA!I heard their bun was famous. So, I bought a box of Banh Bao Thap Cam Trung Muoi - Combination Buns for $13.00. Wow. It sure got lots of surprises inside, like a quail egg in each bun. Oh, heat up the buns in microwave for 20 seconds.First time I learn about De Viet Kitchen was at Big Bao Battle 3 hosted by OCA-Greater Houston in 2018. They won first place in People's Choice Award category. I am so glad they opened an actual restaurant in Chinatown shortly after. I'll come back to try other dishes later.

Bánh bao is not good, smells weird and lacks flavor. I got the salted egg bánh bao. I believe the smell is from them using canned quail eggs. All the hype, very disappointed. I am looking for bánh bao with lots of meat, chewy dough, not too salty but has flavor, not too much dough, and fits my hand. Their bao meets all the criteria except the most important, flavor. For once I would say, you need to add salt or chicken bullion and oyster sauce in your bao. This bánh bao is good if you are really really hungry and have nothing else to eat.
