This place has a lively ambiance and friendly service. I went into the restaurant to order tacos to go while visiting San Diego. I wanted the type of tacos that I don't normally find where I live. I was able to get tacos de mixto cabeza, tacos de lengua, tacos de cachete, and tacos de asada. All of the tacos were filling and had a generous portion size. The tacos were also flavorful and just delicious overall. My favorite tacos was the lengua. The server was friendly as well as the other staff I encountered. There is plenty of parking. I highly recommend!

I had been wanting to try this place for a while because cabeza is my favorite taco! We were recommended to order a pound of meat for our party of five (one child). It came with broth for the adults and good quality tortillas. We also ordered chapulines (grasshoppers), taco de sesos (brain), de chicharrón, de cochinita pibil, and taquitos dorados. Se wanted to try lengua as well so we added 1/2 of lengua. Everything was delicious! Cabeza is a very tender meat, fatty, buttery, with lots of flavor. Lengua was also very tender and was my kid's favorite. Chapulines we're crunchy, seasoned with salt and lemon, and a little bit spicy. Both of their salsas were also great. We enjoyed the ambiance. There's plenty of parking in this shopping center. The waitresses kept checking on us and making sure we were taken care of. The owner also came by and checked on us. They have a large selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I highly recommend this spot in Chula Vista!

If you want authentic, no frills Mexican food, look no further than De Cabeza el Unico. All the tacos were so flavorful that they should've been illegal!Though this wasn't in the heart of SD, it's worth making a little trek out of the city for some real good Mexican eats. Do it - it'll be worth it!

First time checking out this place today since we were in the area. Service was quick and friendly and we were greeted and sat as soon as we entered. This place is a sit down joint where servers come to the table to take your order, not your typical Mexican restaurant where you order first and pay at the counter. Decent sized restaurant with lots of tables inside. We needed a minute to look through their unique menu. I was so excited to see all their different cuts of meat such as head meat, cheek, tongue, etc! Our server was nice enough to give us suggestions on what to try and order. Since it was a quick lunch for us we opted for several tacos: head meat, asada, cheek, tongue, and tripa. Tripa has a nice taste to it, as did the the asada. But the stars of our lunch was definitely the other 3 cuts! The head meat, cheek and tongue were soooo tender and delicious! Packed with flavor already but it was enhanced even more by the bowl of limes and extra salsas provided in the bottles. The chef Jesus was also extremely nice! He made the effort to tell us about the restaurant and what they specialize in and what things to try next. Rarely do we venture down to Chula Vista but I wouldn't mind the drive at all to eat here again! I can't wait to come back to try other items on their menu!

We had just gotten lunch in the area, but I've been wanting to go to De Cabeza el Unico so we stopped by. We ran into the chef outside as my husband was saying a michelada sounded good. The chef has incredible energy and proudly told us they had the best micheladas. Each michelada comes with a giant 32oz beer. I don't even like micheladas and had to admit that this one was really delicious. They make their michelada mix in house and it was definitely noticeable. Since we had just eaten dinner lunch, we intended only on trying one or two tacos but I saw that they had huitloche, which I've always wanted to try. We got a lengua, cochinita pibil, and huitloche to start. The huitloche had a very strong flavor that I wasn't used to, and though I'm glad I tried it, I probably won't order it again. The cochinita pibil was solid, but the lengua (tongue) was amazing. Thick chunks of tender (but not too tender) tongue. Probably one of my favorite lengua tacos I've had! It was so good we needed to get a cachete (cheek) and a cup of consome to try. Everything was incredible. Like truly amazing. It's clear how much love and care goes into their food there and the chef clearly has alot to be proud of. We finished with a slice of flan de mazapan. The nutty mazapan went really well with the darker sugar taste. Overall this was amazing and we'll be back. Next time, we'll get the whole head and a fried cheese and guacamole for sure.

This is probably my favorite spot in SD for cow head meat. The tacos are simple: single corn tortilla with meat, onions/cilantro, and salsa. The head meat is so tender and tasty. I also usually get the consomé with meat on the side. They also don't skimp on the limes. There's always parking available when I stop by and service is always great.

Stopped by super quick to try out some of their tacos. I got one maciza (head meat), carne asada and al pastor. All were good but of course the maciza stands out! It was very tender, seasoned well, and not too salty. The employees were friendly and efficient. We received our order in less than 15 minutes. We definitely will be back to dine in as my bf saw they have beer towers!

So so so good! De Cabeza is located in a small plaza, so there's parking. Although, when it's busier, it may be limited. I was immediately greeted and seated with a smile upon arrival. Food:Maciza Taco (10/10): I've never had head meat before, but it is what this place is known for. So, I had to give it a try! The meat was tender and had a good mix of fat and lean. The flavor was delicious and well-balanced with the cilantro, onion, and salsa it came with. Asada Taco (8/10): The meat was flavorful and not too chunky. It was delicious, albeit a little dry. Lengua Taco (10/10): I love lengua and get it every time I have tacos. This? By far the best I've had. Just like the maciza, it was tender and flavorful. It literally melted in my mouth. I'll be dreaming about it until I'm back!Flan (8/10): A perfect dessert to end the meal with! It wasn't too sweet and overly eggy. However, it was airy. I prefer my flan to be creamy and smooth.
