Daybreak Island Grill

We stayed right around the corner and kept eyeballing it so when my MIL and husbands aunt wanted breakfast, we jumped at the chance to try this place. Our service was excellent and the restaurant was adorable. I got the breakfast potato dish that I cannot remember the name of. It was good but could have used more flavor. Their food was all so good!

The exterior of the restaurant doesn't look the most welcoming being kind of fenced off but don't let that deter you. Service is friendly and the food is yummy. I love that they offer stuff for dogs.The upcountry burrito was delicious.Maui wowie pancakes were yummy.The daybreak special was pretty good.We'd go back!

I've gone to this spot for at least the last 5 years now and the reason why is because the food is so so good. Flavorful benedicts and loco moco choices. The banana bread french toast is delicious and I love their fried breakfast potatos. This is not the place to go if you are looking for an attentive waitstaff. You'll be lucky to get noticed when you walk in to get seated or get your bill. Once the food is dropped off you probably won't see anyone again for a while so hopefully you don't need another napkin or a refill. Food is great, attentiveness is not a thing here.

They were short a cook when I went, so I had to wait longer than expected but the service was excellent. The Spam fries I liked, but it took them to long so I took it togo because of the wait .ill be back because of the service the waitress gave me was excellent even though it took a long time.oh went back this place is very amazing!! One my favorite in san Diego!! It's a must try !! Again my waitress was amazing. I got the same one and she's always up to par!! Wish I got her name but when she said it airplane was passing over ..she very beautiful and amazing person!!!

What a truly special gem in Ocean Beach!They open nice and early and have chilled champagne ready to serve. The chef came and greeted us and said good morning. Such good hospitality. This place definitely makes you feel good.Our server Irene was so sweet and kind. She took time to go over the menu with us. She answered all of our questions and was attentive to our needs.The patio is dog friendly, and she was kind to our pup.Let's get into the food!The Hawaiian Breakfast was delicious. Generous servings of all proteins. The flavor profiles were so good. Perfectly pan fried spam. Yolky over easy eggs. Rice perfectly cooked. Mac salad nice and chilled not too salty, the shaved veggies in it were yummy. Perfection. The banana bread French toast was delicious. The banana bread was moist and it's made in house! I loved the loco Moco. The gravy was the perfect flavor. Meat was seared well, not over cooked. Not too salty. The whole combination of ingredients really makes the perfect bite.We enjoyed POG mimosas and loved our experience here.Thanks to chef Lawrence for the good morning hello and delicious meal. I highly suggest and will be back. Did I mention they open at 7am?

Absolutely our #1 MUST VISIT location in San Diego. The dog friendly patio should be enough of a reason to visit, but then you notice there are doggie meals available! Healthy, delicious, and affordable! Simply love this place as-is but then you realize the service is superb! Attentive servers will pamper your pooch and take care of you with a smile. The Champagne Bottle & Juice is a perfect complement for brunch. Tiki Bar cocktails are also available as well as cold beer (and yes, Hawaiin beers are also on the menu). As for food, plenty of choices. Some of our favorites are the Crab Eggs Benedict with a generous portion of crab, and absolutely tasty! On the healthy side, the Veggie Scramble will surely satisfy. The Hawaiin Breakfast Bowl and the Loco Moco are authentic and a beautiful presentation. On the sweet side, the Classic French Toast, and Maui Wowie Pancakes are on point!But you will have you dreaming of being on the Big Island from the minute you walk in the front patio entrance. The tiki coverings are a special touch that sets the mood from the minute you arrive. Go there today!

Staff didn't even acknowledge me when I walked in and they were rude during my interaction with them. They didn't include dressing with my to-go salad until I asked for it. And $19 for this tiny, underwhelming, protein-less salad? Absurd.

A decent no fuss- no muss brunch spot in Ocean Beach. If you're looking for a super refined experience, this probably won't be for you. The main draw for us was the extremely pet friendly patio, complete with anchors to tie your dog's leash to, water bowls, and even a special pet meal available on the menu. For the human food we had the traditional eggs Benedict and the Nutty Blues Pancakes. Both were pretty tasty. The service was also completely sufficient.

We had the loco moco volcano style, it was amazing, had tons of flavor and was very good. At the time we went they were only serving scrambled eggs but they worked really well in the dish. We also tried the kalua pork sliders and they were good too. We got the basic fry's with the sliders and they were basic but ok. Service was ok but nothing great, we had a 25 min wait to be seated. The place is a bit small. If you're not in a hurry this is a place to definitely try! We will be back for sure
