UPDATE: Been here about half a dozen times now and I have to say every time I visit I love their pastries a little more. We've had everything from custom cakes to donuts and I've never been disappointed. If this bakery was closer to me I'd be there 5 times a week! Drove to Sunnyslope specifically to order a custom Cassata cake. Decided to take home pastries too. First, the choices are abundant. Multiple cases with donuts, pastries, and cookies. An upright refrigerated case with pie cuts and a few decorated cakes.Ordered about a dozen specialty pastries and massive donuts to split between my family and another. Nice girl behind the counter gladly put my selections in two boxes tied with string. It's a great old-school detail. The raspberry filled donut was pillowy, airy, and filled to the brim with sweet raspberry jam. The dough for this fresh donut was perfection. Next time, I will forgo the powered sugar and order the glazed version. The cheese Danish was more like a sweetened cheese croissant. That's not a bad thing. The pastry wasn't sweet, but the cheese and glaze was. A perfect balance. Both chocolate donut selections were decent but not as good as the filled raspberry. We haven't tried the sticky bun, fritter, or mini cherry cheesecake yet. Tomorrow is another day, but I'm sure if those are anything like the ones we've already eaten, we will be in sugar coma heaven again tomorrow. I'd love to try a loaf of the rye bread, but I'm the only one in my family that likes it, and I can't justify the $$$, when fresh bread doesn't last very long. Pricing is competitive with other local mom and pop bakeries. For about 13 specialty pastries, it was $30. That might seem expensive, but half of the basic chocolate donuts were larger than one of the other guys. In my mind that's like two for one. I will definitely be returning fresh, quality baked goods made with care and pride.

What a great addition to the neighborhood! Had the napoleon, chocolate doughnut with Bavarian creme filling, a snickerdoodle and a black/white cookie. All were delicious with the doughnut as the best. Cost is very reasonable. Ever other place seems to charge $3+ for a cookie. This place was $1.50. And the cookies were big and better than some other places too.I will be back for sure.

This was a lovely Italian bakery, also they supply cold cakes, cupcakes and complementary coffee! The service was wonderful. The girl at the front desk was super helpful and really nice! I enjoyed the texture of all of the pastries, except for the filling in the cannoli! This is a great shop with great prices. Go check them out!

My fellow transplant New Yorkers rejoice an Italian bakery in the valley. Rainbow cookies, cannolis, butter cookies, pastries, you name it, Dawn's NY Bakery has it. Very reasonable prices. Cherry on top is the iconic string to tie the box! My fellow New Yorkers know what I mean. I will definitely be back!

Dawn doesn't have much of a personality, but she has some decent pastries. The cheese Danish was better than the Blueberry crumb and the apricot hamentoshen was decent enough. Will have to try some other items and maybe get a better NY greeting next time.

Just went to this amazing NY Bakery. Being from NY, I am always looking for an authentic NY bakery here in AZ. I found it!!! Dawn is an incredible small business owner and makes you feel like family when you walk through the door. My husband and I had coffee, a black & white cookie and carmel cake. They were delicious and we felt like we were back in NY. We couldn't leave without taking some eclairs, cookies, fresh NY bagels, and bread with us. I'll definitely be back soon!!!Sharon

Amazing! It's the best old-fashioned bakery in Phoenix. This is a local, family owned family run business. They have some of everything, and everything is top-notch. Service is stellar. Even the packaging is great, bakery boxes lovingly tied up with red and white striped string. My favorites that I would recommend - fruit Danish, Linzer cookies, and the Best Rugelach in Phoenix. Might actually be the only Rugelach Phoenix. You've got to go! You won't be disappointed!
