Absolutely no passion left at Zaguan. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 12 years and decided to bring my family to try Zaguán for themselves. This past visit was the first bad experience here and yet one of the worst I've had at any restaurant. Absolutely every single thing in our order was wrong. 1. Our two juices were made incorrectly. 2. The wrong dish was sent out and they only realized when trying to set down something nobody ordered which led to another 20 minute wait for the correct dish to be made. 3. Gave us a Cuban sandwich made incorrectly. 4. Gave us two arepas with the wrong ingredients only to then tell us they were out of prosciutto and asked if we wanted to order something else - 35 minutes after originally placing our order. 5. Double charged us for both a coffee and mocha. After that entire nightmare, the waiter acted entirely flippant about the whole thing. Not even a genuine apology was offered for the embarrassing lunch. Overall, we could sense there was a very distinct lack of passion at Zaguan now. Gone were the warm waitresses that treated you like family, the kitchen that took pride in their food. And if require any further proof of this, just take a look at their slipping ratings and reviews. I think it might be time to say goodbye to this old favorite.

Came here for takeout close to closing. The staff was very kind and my food came out quickly. I got the domino arepa and tostones without cheese. The arepa was great! The black beans were very flavorful and the arepa itself was crispy with the right amount of cheese. I didn't love the tostones. They were quite dry and possibly overcooked and not seasoned or salted at all so I needed to add salt myself at home. The restaurant inside is very cute with lots of seating. There is a lot on the menu that I am interested in trying to I will definitely be back for more!

This is my updated review after visiting Zaguan again last week after about a year ago. It's just so lovely here!! From their website, "Zaguán is the elaborate entry-passage in the grand old colonial homes of Spain and Latin American." I always get so impressed when places like this exist in Dallas. It's like an escape from the day to day. If you're looking for a gorgeous mosaic of stone and tile, menu items like cheese arepas, empanadas, plantain chips, and fresh veggies, come here. Order yourself a cappuccino, sit by a window, and live your best life. The staff are so kind and patient with you and make you feel at home. 100% recommend for a work/study date.

My family has been going here since before I was born and it remains my favorite restaurant. The best arepa and tres leches I've ever had. Service can be a little slow depending on who's working waitstaff but they'll come to you right away if you flag them down.

Ate here about a month ago and it was seriously delicious! So much so I had to come back and make a review. We're from OKC, OK and we were in Dallas for a concert. I'm so glad we stopped here and we've already been planning when we would be back in Dallas to eat here again. The service was fantastic and everyone was very nice. My boyfriend, who is from Peru, appreciated the authentic Latin food. I got the Zaguán brunch and it was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Everything had so much flavor. We tried the Argentinean empanadas and they were fantastic! This restaurant also had a great atmosphere. The only thing I would change is the size of my stomach!

Zaguán never ceases to comfort my Latina soul. I've been many times and this last visit I decided to try the Ropa Vieja, which translates means old clothes!!It's shredded beef, slow cooked so it's really tender and flavorful, seasoned with peppers, onions, garlic and bay leaf...a symphony of flavors. It comes with white rice and black beans that are mildly flavored without overpowering the dish.

Best Cuban Sandwich in Texas. I've driven past this place over 100 times and never thought to stop in. Lo and behold, today I was craving a Cubano. Googled where to find one near me and it popped up. Needless to say I'm wildly satisfied

Service was great! Prices were reasonable for the portions a little expensive though. Food was 10/10 though the arepa was delicious! Only thing is I asked for an omelette but it came out scrambled. It didn't bother me at all because it was still delicious, but if you are someone who is very picky about how your eggs come out maybe reiterate that you want it cookeda certain way. The building was super pretty and made me feel like I am in Colombia.
