Small- intimate theater. There isn't a bad seat in the house so don't stress over paying more for front row, excellent views are all around. Venue consist of a small reception area and underground parking. The parking was a breeze/ convenient, and 20 bucks flat rate. Chairs inside the venue are comfortable, and you have a dedicated arm rest . There is not a lot of maneuver (leg) room so if you're in those middle seats, in front of the stage try to get there early or prepare for the "excuse me" down the line. My only complaint is when departing. There is one exit that everyone needs to funnel through. I was in the seats in front of the stage, which means I was the last to depart given the long lines of people much closer to the single open door. If this was a fire or emergency situation I don't see that this would pass an inspection so there must be another way to exit that isn't provided during the performance. It would be nice to have some order of departure sequencing in order to expedite exiting.

Why 5 stars? Because this was an awesome, intimate venue. --- --- ---We came here for a kid's concert (Laurie Berkner). It was really laid out a bit different than any other theatre I've been to. It was definitely smaller, which was great for being closer to the performer. We purchased seats on the 2nd level, closest to stage left, and we were practically right on top of the stage. These were almost the best seats we could have had for our son because he loved to jump up and down like a crazy person to the music, and there was a little area next to our seats for him to do just that. The only small negatives about the experience is that when exiting, it took a bit longer than you would have thought because the staircases were dark and narrow. And we had an incredibly overzealous usher in our section who was annoying all of the patrons and her co-workers as she was taking her job VERY seriously all throughout the show. But those were very minor things -- we would happily come here for any show in the future if we lived closer.

This theater is on the smaller side and I mean that in the best way; it's charming! The audio was good, everything was clean, and all staff was very friendly. Drink prices are typical for a venue of this type. My only real concern is with the chairs. They're just uncomfortable and at an awkward height. Be warned, they're suited not for larger people or shorter people. The chairs are too high, they lean forward, and are particularly narrow. I'd love to come back to this venue in the near future!

I took my wife to see a fantastic Argentinian Tango show last night called a Volver By Tango Lovers. This show was Excellent, it exceeded all our expectations, fantastic dancers, singers and musicians! This venue is excellent, great customer service, nice bar and very modern inside yet very intimate with great acoustics! Seriously we have read many reviews about how many steps you need to cling and sears not being comfortable etc. Yes, there is a flight of stairs you will have to walk up to get to the theatre but they do have an Elevator as well, my wife and I found the seats to be very comfortable with great support and spaced apart so you don't feel crowded. The intimate feel once seated is excellent, there are No bad seats in viewing the stage and no obstructions anywhere, any seat option leaves you pretty close to the stage to see all the action. They do have a bar and you can bring your drink to your seat while watching the show. The one rookie mistake we made was not having a coat, they do keep it really cold in there like refrigerator cold hahaha, I'm warm natured and stay hot but my wife was glued to me to keep warm ( I liked that part) This is not a older person or younger person thing, trust me it's cold in there hahaha bring a scarf or light jacket and you will be fine. The ushers that work here are so friendly and most helpful always with s smile, I wanted to mention them and stellar customer service including the bartenders on duty. Also parking and and getting in and out was a breeze! We look forward to attending many more performances here!

This is in no way a review of any show at the Wyly, but of the design of theater itself. Best I can tell, it was designed by someone, or several someones, who had no desire to ever spend any time there! Or maybe someone let a computer do the design work? Let's start with the very odd and dangerous slant going down into the building from Flora St. How was this deemed to be acceptable? The slope is dangerous enough for anyone who isn't young and fit. So there's a stairway that goes down, but the steps are oddly spaced. Then once inside it seems normal, until you go to the bathrooms. Both men's and women's have honeycomb-like patterned tiling on the floors and walls that immediately cause nausea. Well, it sure got me in and out of there quickly! Now onto the seats. Maybe if I was beanpole 6'4" I would've been fine, but I'm not. The seats are not well padded, but the worst is that they're both too narrow and too long in the seat. A normal modern day bottom *just* fits. Snugly. But the seat was too long in the depth, so if I sat all the way back trying to get my back to touch, then my feet dangled 3" above the floor like some kind of Edith Ann...only I wasn't laughing. I ended up putting my umbrella behind my back, which of course didn't really help, but at least my feet were sort of touching the ground. Well, my toes were, anyway. And there just isn't enough of a slope to the theater to make any seats a good seat. We were in the front row, but I could tell that every seat in every row behind would be somewhat blocked if someone taller and wider was sitting in front of them. I'm a bit dismayed that I'll be going back to this theater for a couple of shows, being a season ticket holder.

We saw the Christmas Carol on a Sunday at 2pm. The Wyly Theatre is across the street from the AT&T Performing Arts Center. We parked about 2 blocks from the theatre. There was ample parking lots for an $8 daily rate. We used the lot on Leonard Street between Ross Ave and San Jacinto Street. The theatre has drinks and candy for purchase. The alcohol comes in a sealable container that you keep. When you come in you can take the steps or elevator up to the theatre. My Family and I had tickets for the 2nd floor on the side. We were row A seats 207- 210. They were perfect. We could see everything. If you sit on the first floor by the isles you will have the actors walking by you. Probably not a great place for a smaller child. The seats aren't the most comfortable but they weren't hard. The theatre was a little hot at first but did cool down by the middle of the play. I saw people bring sweaters to cover up when the temp cooled down. The music and singing were great. My family all enjoyed this play. Scrooge (Brad Leland from Friday Night Lights) was really good. His voice was perfect for the scrooge character. I also loved the violin and other instruments. I would recommend this play to families. If your child can sit through a movie then they will do fine here. Bring cash for the charity collection they collect for at the end. They raise a lot of money for a great cause. The play started about 210pm and lasted for about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

THE SHOW:I enjoy the annual video of A Christmas Carol, particularly the Muppet version! I was consumed by the Dallas Theater Center production at the Wyly from the opening. There are several memoriable moments in this show. The inspiring to see a fresh interpretation of this classic. I have a feeling my wife and I will be back to see it and others productions in the future.THE HALL:I have been in almost every theater and hall in the Dallas/Fort Worth area except for the Wyly Theater. The design of the hall always intrigued me. The seats are not the best, but I did not notice them once the show began. (If you go expecting to be uncomfortable, you will feel the seats are fine.)I enjoyed the intimacy of the theater. Our seats were on the second level (Mezzanine, Level 3A, seats 219 & 220, photos included). We could not see one actor on a platform immediately below us during one dialog, but this was not a problem. I agree with the other posts that there is not a bad seat in the house.PARKING:We normally park in the Arts garage for the Meyerson but choose to pay for parking in advance in the Lexus Silver Lot. I am glad we did considering this parking was sold-out the night of our show. There is a tunnel which connects directly from the parking area to the foyer of the Wyly. (I missed that and went up the elevator in the garage and then had to cross the street and walk down the steeply sloped outdoor area (Esplanade) to the entry.)The entrance to the Silver parking area is on Jack Evans (turn off Ross onto Jack Evans). Taking DART train is certainly a good option too if you do not mind walking a short distance (0.4 mile).Present your tickets at the entry and wait for the theater to open. Elevators will take you to your level (3-orchestra, 3A-mezzaine, 3B-balcony). The foyer includes a few tables with chair, a concession area, and restrooms. The restrooms are on each side of the concession stand and you may not see them as they blend into the wall treatment. The foyer opens 90 minutes before and the seating opens 30 minutes prior to the show. For this particular show, young children need to know the story of A Christmas Carol and be prepared for some intense scenes near the beginning.

Visited to see Dream girls last night. The theater isn't big, but still big enough to enjoy the show. It's very clean and modern. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's walking distance to the DART station which is good if you don't want to spend lots of money on parking.
