What a nifty find for a cold, blustery day. I used Yelp to research things to do and found this little gem. There was no one at the desk when we entered, but we found him entertaining other visitors down the hall. The exhibits are very informative and well done, and the airplanes and helicopters are so cool to look at. The hanger itself is immense and a docent told us about how they could crank open an additional door near the top to accommodate the tail fin of the huge planes. Our 32yo son had a great time, as did we!

This museum is adjacent to Meacham airport and the Yelp location is accurate. Parking is free and in front of the hangar whereveryou can find room. They have a small gift shop at the entrance and charge admission there. I think I paid $11 or $12 dollars to enter. From the gift shop you then enter into a couple of small rooms and a hallway with a lot of old military aviation displays, models, pictures, etc. From there you have two hangars to visit. One hangar has several aircraft inside where both civilian and military planes that appeared to me flyable with some of those were being worked on. The other hangar has other aircraft inside that look un flyable but are being renovated or just stored. I believe this organization may be affiliated with the Commemorative Air Force and there were several aircraft in the first hangar that looked like they were in good shape and ready to fly at air shows. This museum gives the visitor an opportunity to watch mechanics serving and rebuilding planes. I would budget 30-45 minutes to visit here.

The fourth aviation museum Mike and I went to. Smaller than the others, but just as interesting. Lots of older equipment, and some of it still works. Several of the planes still fly and go to air shows. After walking through the whole museum, we ended up talking to 2 guys working on a Douglas A-26 bomber. This plane still flies, and they were installing an engine that had been rebuilt. This plane had 14 fifty caliber machine guns! Eight guns in the nose of the plane, and 3 on each wing. Some serious firepower! See the picture. Mike and I have really enjoyed visiting these museums. A lot of history just waiting for YOU to come visit. Take the time to go see the planes that have protected our country through the years. You'll enjoy it!

Parking and entrance is in the back if the building. Enter thru the gift shop. The staff was very well informed and glad to talk to you about their own experience as well as about what they have on display. A small but well organized museum.

What a fun day at the Vintage Flying Museum! I met an aerospace engineer that took her time to answer all my questions and shared so much information about airplanes, flying, history, etc. I learned about Bernoulli's principle, Euler angles and Newton's law of universal gravitation. Defiantly tip worthy (as they had tip boxed to fund the museum throughout the museum). Everyone I crossed paths with in both hangers was happy to be there and suggested we ask them anything. I really enjoyed my visit. If you haven't been, you're missing out.

First time here visiting family. The young lady who took our payment and admitted us to the museum was extremely knowledgeable and helped provide I formation as we walked around the museum! We appreciated all of her knowledge about the flying banana specifically! My kids loves the aircraft and will have to come back for another visit when we are back in Texas!

It's a small operation, but it's interesting and I liked that we could touch the aircraft and walk inside some. Also, what really makes this place special is the older veteran curators. They are very invested and you can tell that they have so much pride in this museum.

Went here by accident thinking it was the Aviation Museum, and boy are we glad we did! When we pulled up, we were immediately greeted by Joe, a very knowledgeable gentleman, who was watching some of the planes getting ready for flight. (You can actually watch them fly old planes here, or go up in some of them!) Joe took us through the entire museum, and gave insights on the relics and planes that we wouldn't have gotten had we just gone through on our own. He was very funny, and knew his history. Would go back again just to hang out with him, seriously. Fun for the whole family, you can get right up close to the planes, and sit in one of the cockpits. I don't know anything about planes, and I enjoyed myself. Well worth the trip, and ask for Joe. :)
