This is my second time going to Una Vida, and I can't tell you enough how much I love this place!! If you haven't gone, you're missing out!! Here is everything you need to try!!Number 1: Chilaquiles, best I've ever had in my entire life! Chilaquiles are my favorite Mexican breakfast dish, and this place just knocked it out of the park! My first pick!!*Cashew queso (so good & healthy)*Albondigas (that sauce man)*Beet salad (absolutely AMAZING)*Palm of heart cakes (delicious)*Carne asada torta (so fresh and perfect)*Brunch Torta (delicious OMG)*Street tacos (meat & seasoning was perfect, but didn't like the tortilla)*Churro banana split (PHENOMENAL)This place is completely fresh, everything is made in-house and is completely amazing!! I may be back next week

This review makes me sad. I was so excited for a healthier option to come to Dallas, but this is the stereotypical "doesn't taste like the real thing" healthy food spot, but the drinks were phenomenal which kept us around even though it took 45+ minutes to get our food. We had a hibiscus margarita which I would definitely get again, and for food we got the sweet corn fritters, stacked enchiladas, & carne asada tacos. While I know everything here is made in house, it all tasted like frozen TV dinner food that was microwaved. The saving grace was the drinks, our nice server, and cute aesthetic.I'm hoping they revise their recipes & cooking methods to taste more fresh and match the vibrance of the restaurant decor.

We stopped in and enjoyed their brunch selection which offered many Spanish fusion staples! The drinks we ordered were a refreshing addition to our meals. The jugo verde margarita is a must try! The patio space offered a comfy cozy outdoor dining experience.Service was fast and friendly.Highly recommend stopping in for a bite!

Well, the waitress was the best part! The food...well...it was subpar. The space is cute, thoughtful, intimate in its layout. Great lil' date space! The food...let's just say I need a second round to evaluate. We had the enchiladas, the carne asada tacos, chicken tacos, and the Salmon dish. The dishes ranged from lukewarm to over-seasoned or chewy. The servers had good energy and personality, which earned that extra star.

I went here on an impromptu lunch date with my coworker and I absolutely loved the decor and the food! Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. We ordered the guacamole and chips as an appetizer and I thought that was amazing! I got the mushroom tacos and was pleased with them too. They're seasoned very well and I liked the presentation. My coworker consistently gets the Caesar salad, it's his favorite thing and says it's the best Caesar salad he's ever had!I absolutely would return !

I love the ambience here and the drinks are pretty good. They recently changed the menu, but the Asada tacos were pretty tasty and the queso seems like it had a little bit of coconut milk or something different than most restaurants. It was good and I would order it again. Our waiter was attentive and patient. He did not rush us even though we stayed past closing time. I have yet to try more dishes and I would go again due to service and location.

Why is Dallas sleeping on this place?? Why was I able to book a weekend evening dinner reservation just a few hours in advance?? THIS IS INSANITY. Y'all need to get your butts over to West Village (I know, I know, ugh) and try some of the best TexMex that's happening in Dallas right now.Things to know:1. The website is not a fair reflection of this place. The website gives "fast casual" vibes. That's not what UnaVida is. (If anything, service was a bit slow...the weirdest part being that we stood at the hostess stand, ungreeted, for almost 10 full minutes before someone acknowledged our presence. They were clearly understaffed that evening, but once we were seated, things moved along at more of a normal pace.)2. The barbacoa brisket tacos (served with chihuahua cheese costra, rajas con crema, blistered corn, and chipotle aioli) is $16 for three tacos. Does that sound overpriced? Well, I'd pay twice that for these tacos, which were THE BEST brisket tacos I've ever had. Brisket tacos are one of the standards by which I measure every TexMex restaurant. I don't know if I can eat them again anywhere else. Truly, the flavors of the UnaVida brisket tacos are an exceptional reminder that Matt McCallister crafted this menu. (Another reminder: guacamole with dried blueberries, which is bizarrely delicious.) I'm not a Matt McCallister die-hard...I loved FT33 but thought Homewood was overrated. UnaVida is drastically UNDER-rated.3. The DRINKS. Wow. The house margarita is a spicy one, with serrano peppers that pack way more of a punch than the standard jalapenos. The "island time shrub" is a fantastic combination of mezcal and pineapple shrub (a vinegar-based syrup) with a splash of coconut water. Unexpected, refreshing, and delicious. But it's the "cactus caiprinha" that I'd come back for...holy shit. Best caiprinha ever, and I once spent a week doing nothing but downing caiprinhas in Brazil. It's not a classic caiprinha, with the additions of kiwi and jugo verde, but those additions only enhance the drink. It's actually LESS sweet than a normal caiprinha, super balanced and refreshing. You haven't had anything like this...and you need to.I'd come back with a bigger group to try more of the starters , all of which sound divine, and to steal bites of other dishes. Right now, my heart is set on nothing but those brisket tacos on repeat, but knowing Matt McCallister, I'm sure there are a LOT of other exquisite dishes on the menu that sound ordinary but will blow your mind. So, suck it up, Dallas. Go fight the battle of the West Village one-way streets and shitty parking, because THIS PLACE IS WORTH IT. It's a large menu full of creative, inventive dishes that are truly gourmet, at a fraction of the price of places like FT33 or Homewood. UnaVida is fine dining in disguise: approachable, relaxed, affordable (especially for the phenomenal creativity and quality), and absolutely delicious.

My husband and I had lunch here and we stumbled into a hidden gem! Amazing place for vegan foods, and they had options for meat eaters too! The guac was the best I ever had, and the vegan queso delicious. We also ordered the street tacos & stacked enchiladas. Both were very good. I loved that we left not feeling heavy, or overwhelmingly sleepy like most Texmex restaurants. This is what i absolutely love about UnaVida! Fresh & light ingredients made for un-guilty pleasures to indulge. The service was excellent, and very friendly. Cannot wait to come back!

The food was really good! I went on a Thursday and there was one large group and maybe 3-4 more tables, the service was absolutely horrible. The server we started off with did not check up on us, and by the end of the night she let us know that she was actually not our server. I had to go to the bar 3 times in order to get our drinks as well as the check and to go boxes, when I asked the bartender who are server was he let me know that it was the same girl who told us she wasn't. The bartender was great and he definitely helped us out, the manager started to avoid us when he noticed we were starting to get frustrated, I have never written a review on any restaurant before no matter how bad it was but it was just that bad. I will never be going back which is a bummer because the torta asada was delicious!
