Curious what Uyghur food was like. This place was delicious and the portions are very generous. We got the naan, korma chop, and the big plate chicken. The naan has walnuts and it was interesting. The bread was fluffy, pretty unexpected with my associating naan with a more flat bread. It came with a honey dipping sauce. The korma chop was soooooo good. It's stir fried noodles but the noods were thiccc! Due to diet constraint had to get the chicken, but I bet the beef would have been even more amazing. Highly recommend this one. It's the N1.The big plate chicken is as advertised. We got the (small) big plate chicken and it was alotttt. It's a curry dish, I thought it was good but not amazing, but I'm not a big curry person. My wife loved it though, she ordered it. However, the noods in the big plate chicken is like the flat noodles you get at Chinese restaurants but like 1000 times better, tastes homemade, it was thicc and chewy. Delicious.Nothing bad to say, the service was great, food was great! Will definitely come back!

This was one of the more memorable meals in a long time. It was a relatively short menu that was a cross between Chinese and Middle Eastern cuisine. Spice, lamb, kabobs, noodles, rice, and great service. I went it having no idea what to expect from Uyghur cuisine. This restaurant had been on my "let's do it sometime" restaurant list, but always seemed too adventurous to visit. Tonight, I decided it was the time. The service was wonderful. Our server explained the dishes, shared her passion for Uyghur cuisine, and gave us the sense we were dining in someone's home. We didn't feel rushed but welcomed in a lovely space. Lots of great surprises during the meal. I wanted different yet comfort food tonight - Turan Uyghur was the perfect option. Thank you!

This small restaurant is bursting with character! The atmosphere is lively, with a mix of Chinese, Turkish, and Muslim patrons creating a unique cultural vibe. The owners are incredibly welcoming and dedicated to serving fresh, delicious food quickly.I especially recommend the "shrimp stir-fry" (Lagman). The flavors are incredible, with perfectly cooked shrimp and a savory sauce. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable. If you're looking for an authentic Uyghur experience with top-notch service, this is the place to go!

I love trying new cuisines, and DFW does not disappoint! I've never had Uyghur food before, and was delighted to find Turan Uyghur Kitchen. The restaurant is small, and may be a bit difficult if you have more than 8 people! The men and women working here are very kind, but service is slow. You will need to flag them down if you want to order anything or get additional dishes/utensil/water, etc.The food came out quickly. Between the 2 of us, we ordered dumplings (1 order has 15 dumplings), and a chicken plate. There was more than enough food. I really liked the chicken plate!! It had the best amount of flavor! The chicken and potatoes were very soft and tender. I did not enjoy the dumplings as much. I felt like the flavor wasn't as powerful, and the meat tasted very gamey.

This restaurant popped up one day as a Yelp suggestion and it did not disappoint. I am honestly not sure how long it has been here, but after today's visit, it is certain to be added to our list of rotations. I had previously browsed the Menu online and Mom and I had already decided to order the Cucumber Salad and Big Plate Chicken(medium-sized order) to share. We also ordered their Signature Walnut Honey Yoghurt for Dessert. We made an 11:15AM Reservation through Google since it was our first time here and I was not sure how busy it would be during that time. You order from the Menu and pay the bill after you eat. Received with a welcoming vibe and cultural and delightful background music as soon as we entered. Abdullah graciously greeted us and told us to sit wherever we liked. It is a Husband/Wife (didn't get her name) Team - making everything hot, fresh, and from scratch - so we knew we were in for a treat.I don't believe ambiance is the focal point of the dining experience here; rather, it is the Five Star Quality Food and Service. I will gladly support a Family Business over a chain or franchise. The Cucumber Salad was crunchy, zesty, perfectly spicy, and was the ideal accompaniment to the Big Plate Chicken. The Big Plate Chicken had a bed of Chewy, Steamy Noodles, simmered with Bone-In Chicken, Potatoes, Braised Carrots, Red Peppers, and Dried Red Chilies. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavorful. It was also to our preferred spice level - not too spicy and not at all bland. The Signature Yoghurt had a texture resembling that of a cross between Cream Cheese and Greek Yoghurt and a depth of flavor that contrasted very well with the Honey and Walnut. Perfect after a meal! All three were truly excellent, noteworthy, standout dishes and we would order them again. However, on our next visit, we shall consider others on the Menu. We plan to return!

This was my first time trying Uyghur food and I was definitely pleasantly surprised! I loved the combination of middle eastern flavors and chinese cuisine. We ordered the medium big plate chicken which was more than enough for 2 people, and the uyghur naan. The naan was a bit more bready and dense than the naans that i'm used to, but the addition of the rose water syrup made it much more enjoyable for me. The place itself is quite small but we didnt have trouble finding table on a friday evening. protip: you get a small discount if you pay in cashOverall, looking forward to come back to this establishment and try out other dishes!

Friendly service at this little family restaurant. Unfortunately they were sold out of several dishes on this evening. I had the Lamb Skewers and these lived up to their well earned reputation here on Yelp. The lamb cubes were not too dry and were marinated in some sort of a spicy coriander or cumin mix. Will repeat and try some other dishes!

I decided to try something new this time by getting lunch at Turan Uyghur Kitchen in Plano. This is my first time trying Uyghur food so I was excited. I tried a small big plate chicken, lamb korma, and a small order of dumplings. For a small, the portion size of the big plate chicken was huge, it's basically a big braised chicken stew. Bone in chicken is served on a bed of flat noodles or rice, piled with potatoes, onions, garlic, and bell peppers. It kind of reminds me of a Vietnamese beef stew but the chicken from chicken curry. The chicken was right, hearty, and fall off the bone tender. The korma chop had stir fried noodles with beef, onions, and bell peppers. I liked the noodles but the beef was a little bit on the tougher side. A small dumpling order comes with 20 dumplings. The filling was good but the wrapper was way too thick. My favorite was the big plate chicken, the small size alone can serve 3-4 people. Everything else was okay

This place had good ambiance and service. The food was very tasty. We especially enjoyed the samsa, big plate chicken and lamb skewers. The samsa was filled with very tasty pieces of lamb. The big plate chicken had very nice and chewy noodles soaked in very tasty sauce and pieces of potatoes and the lamb skewers were very well marinated. If you enjoy Uyghur cuisines, you'll not be disappointed with this place.

Been wanting to try this place for a while now. They're located in the zTao plaza between the Cathay Bank and BBQ Chicken. I came in around 2 pm and it was pretty busy despite being past lunchtime. I was here mainly for the big plate chicken, but we also ordered some samsa, lamb skewers, lamb shank polow, and yogurt for dessert. I'd wanted the Turan cake too but they only had Honey cake today. The service was great. The wait staff visited each table every so often to check up on them. The food came out fairly quickly. I think I spent a total of 40 minutes in the restaurant including ordering, waiting, taking pics, writing this review, and eating. The space looks small from the outside. They have about 7 tables or so. Most of them seat 4 and a couple seat 5-6. Pay at the cashier when you're done eating. And now the food...The samsa was great. It's like a lamb meat bun with a crispy exterior. The meat was juicy and flavorful with a little fat and some tendon. It was perfect as a small appetizer before the main course. The lamb shank polow was pretty good too. The lamb meat basically fell off the bone when I went to cut it up. The rice was flavorful. The raisins added just a bit of sweetness to prevent the meat from being too overpowering. The lamb skewers were super tender, very spicy, piping hot, and juicy with some tendon. Be careful - the metal part of the skewers are hot when they first come out. You're welcome to eat off of the skewers but if you're worried about looking uncivilized or don't want to struggle with ripping the meat off the skewers with your teeth then I recommend pushing the meat off with a chopstick and onto your plate. The big plate chicken was great too. The chicken was warm, spicy, and tender. The potato was soaked with flavor. The bell peppers were fresh and tasted like they were blanched before being tossed in at the end. The noodles were soaked in the broth, and were spicy and chewy. Be careful picking up the noodles - they are very likely to splash you or the person sitting across from you. If I had to rank the ingredients of this dish in order of deliciousness, then it'd be potato, noodles, chicken, bell peppers. The big plate chicken comes in 3 sizes - small, medium, and large. Small is enough for 1 person. Medium is for 2 grown men. I assume large is probably for 3-4 people. And last is the yogurt - the yogurt was cool. It came with a splash of crunchy diced pistachio. It worked out as a great palate cleanser after the spicy meal. One thing I noticed was that the spicy foods got spicier and a bit greasier after cooling down a bit. So eat it while it's hot. Or let it cool down if the initial spicy level isn't enough for you.
