Side street bar is a local dive. The building is at least 80 years old. The service is friendly and fast. Establishment is not so large that you're gonna get lost but big enough to dance and sing on most nights. Karaoke is offered by DJ Dennis Bailey . The drinks are not expensive, but they're not fancy either. They do not offer food at this location, but you are welcome to order from other area restaurants for delivery. The crowd leans heavy toward country and western, but there's plenty of rock 'n' roll. Birthdays are frequently celebrated here by the patrons. If you're in the area and you find yourself wanting to sing karaoke, you might drop in..

I stopped by New Years Eve since we were in town with no plans. I looked at the reviews and was conerned about all the mentions of smoke. It must have changed alot since the last reviews. I didn't see or smell any smoke at all. There were people on a small patio smoking but not inside. I will have to classify this place as a little hidden gem. It has all the personality, charm and quirks only a small town bar could possess. The people are over the top friendly and I get the feeling even the regulars want to put their best foot forward. I typically will avoid a karaoke bar but this place has really good singers that sang in tune. They also did alot of older music which was even cooler. We were by far the youngest in the bar and I am 55. However the entire place was just plain fun and all the other guests were fun loving and welcoming. There is something about a saloon type bar in an old historic brick building that just gave the whole place great vibes. The owners name is Nell and she was the epitome of a proud business owner. Not only did we have fun, the prices were very reasonable and it felt great to spend money in the kind of neighborhood bar we root for and hope to have nearby. We didn't try the food but I bet they do a good job by the way the rest of the place is run. I look forward to stopping in to watch a football game one Sunday. My guess is there will be a group of friendly Cowboys fans gathered cheering their team on. We need more bars like this!

If I had know this was now a karaoke bar I'd have probably given it a miss, but I did with mixed results. As the name suggests, it's bar on a side street, just off US80. It's not a particularly big place so I guess to compensate they didn't make the bar very wide on the customer side and the foot rest juts out so you can't sit facing the bar and get your legs under comfortably, you have to sit sort of sideways which is awkward. As others mentioned, it is smokey, but not as bad as they seem to make it. It maybe because they had the door open and the fans on which did make it a bit chilly when sitting near the door. There was karaoke but thankfully it wasn't too loud and was unobtrusive to those of us who despite this utter disregard and destruction of music...but I digress. Heather did a great job of looking after me, however making sure I had a drink and checking up on me. Overall, if you're a smoker and love karaoke, this is your place. If you're neither, I don't know what to tell you. Pretty much all the bars east of Dallas seem to allow smoking but not all have karaoke. The great service saved the day!

Great live music! nice dance floor, happening place to be on the weekend in Terrell. Cheap drinks and fast service. I like this place - but the second hand smoke in here will kill you. The lack of ventilation and air current in such a small place - yikes. my purse smelled like an ashtray for a week.

My husband and I went over to the Side Street Karaoke Bar in Terrell, Tx...last week to attend a private party...The karaoke DJ Bill has a personable personality that compliments his good "people skills." In the past, we've visited other karaoke bars the waiting time usually 30 to 40 minutes to sing...There aren't any guarantees whether or not you might get one more song in...due to the many who signed up to sing..Side Street bar keeps a low key atmosphere with less than 10 singersleaving the waiting time from anywhere to 10 minutes...When it comes to being a perfectionist Bill is always on top of things..He announces each singer by their first only, the artist and song...The local bar crowd makes newcomers feel right at home. giving off positive encouragements to anyone who hasn't done karaoke....As the commoners trickle in one by one each stop to say hi to Bill....His sense of humor, joking, cuttin up with everyone...Leaves you with a smile on your face, laugher, and good friendship.... Side Street Bar is the best karaoke bar, one will ever experience...We'll Be Back...

Don't get me wrong, I love a good dive bar....but this place is just bad! The roof leaks, we have video of a mouse in there, the smoke is so bad I drove all the way home with the windows down in the car, even though it was pouring rain! No food, unless you count the little bag of chips and container of "cheese" as nachos. Watered down drinks. I went to watch a particular band play and they were the only positive of the night. The owner sits on her stool with the most unfriendly look on her face. She could be Cruella De Ville's sister! The place is terrible. Won't ever step foot in there again. I will watch for the band to play somewhere else and catch their show but never again in this place. I mean seriously, there was a mouse running around in there! YUCK!

Went back to this bar for the first time after Glen B. said he would do something about the smoke. They clearly don't care if non-smokers come or not. Nothing has changed . Glen is the biggest smoker in the place. Won't be back. I note that someone else said the same thing.... so it's not just me.
