After years of hunting for the perfect downtown Dallas breakfast spot, I think I've finally found "the one." The Metropolitan on Main is a breakfast haven, a coffee shop, a bar, a pastry counter, and a lunch spot--basically, it's a one stop shop for your culinary cravings. Who knew you could get it all in one place?Too Long; Didn't Read: Great food, generous portions, fair prices, and an ambiance that says, "Maybe I should call in sick and stay a little longer."Breakfast:The croissants here deserve their own fan club--flaky, buttery, and sophisticated enough to make you say "bonjour" without sounding ridiculous. Whether Adolfo (the MVP barista/server) mentioned importing the bread or the butter from France, I'm not quite sure. Either way, they taste like Paris itself--minus the jet lag.Lunch:The croissant sandwich is a game-changer. Honestly, as someone who usually sees salads as a necessary evil, the beet chicken salad was shockingly good. It was flavorful, the chicken was actually juicy (imagine that!), and I finished the whole thing without any resentment. Not your average sad salad.Drinks:The drinks are solid and easy on the wallet. Way better than the overpriced, sugary concoctions at the mermaid chain that shall not be named. Their matcha is a standout--served in its purest, no-sugar-added glory. It's a refreshing option for those of us who prefer to taste the matcha instead of just its sugary afterlife.Dinner & Entertainment:Dinner service is available Wednesday through Friday, but I haven't tried it yet. However, they do have live music on Fridays, which instantly makes dinner there sound like a good idea. I'll update the review once I check this off the list with my thoughts. Happy Hour:Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. and features specials that make your after-work drinks even more satisfying. Budget-friendly buzz? Sign me up.Pro Tip:In a rush? Go tech-savvy. Use the QR code at your table to order and pay without waiting for a server, or scan the one outside to order ahead for a quick pick-up. And here's a secret: they have a stellar little special that includes rye bread, honey, feta cheese, and three cups of tea--all for just a few bucks. It's simple, satisfying, and quickly becoming my personal favorite. Ask for Noemi's special. Flip Side:The only downside to their high-tech ordering system? Once you choose your path (QR code or traditional server), you're committed. No switching back and forth, so choose wisely, like you're picking sides in a medieval duel. The long and short of it:The Metropolitan on Main is the kind of place that makes you glad you didn't settle for an ordinary café. With standout pastries, great coffee, and a menu that delights from breakfast to lunch--and hopefully dinner--it's one of those rare spots where every visit feels like a win.

Good food, service, and cool decor. Not many people. They have an upright piano in the corner too. I had their burger and fries. It was good. I'll be back.

Needed a breakfast away from hotel. The ambience is pretty good. Good vibe and all. I asked for "Power Bowl". Yes it was ok, it hit the spot. May I suggest having an option with quinoa instead of potatoes. Then it truly can be called "super". Besides that, I liked the spinach, I liked avocado. I noticed a full barista offerings. There is a well stocked bar where I sat at. Yes, one can have a liquid breakfast.

Stumbled in here for breakfast, didn't even know it was here. The food, coffee, and vibes are amazing. Owner was super friendly and conversational. Couldn't recommend this place more & we'll certainly be back for dinner to try more of their food.

Very tasty food. My one gripe is that the pita they use for the chicken gyro totally disintegrated while I was eating it, making it a messy experience. I would like to see them use a thicker, more flexible pita to make this a true handheld meal.

Overall amazing dining experience. From the ambience felt walking through the door to the welcoming greeting from the staff to the excellent coffee, main course thru dessert everything was exceptional and deserving of the 5 star rating . The highlight of the morning for me was the special of the day " crab stuffed eggs Benedict " with an accompanying perfectly broiled potato stack. My wife had a veggie omelette with roasted rosemary potatoes. We were both very pleased with our dishes. Before leaving our waitress asked what brought us out this morning and we told her we were celebrating our 43rd anniversary. That information was relayed to the Owner who came by our table to congratulate us and asked if we would like a desert. We were both very full but could not refuse such a gracious offer. The plan was to taste the ricotta stuffed French toast with Noemi's special twist and box up the remainder for later. After the first bite of sheer deliciousness our forks did not stop until the entire desert was demolished! Although, this was our first visit it will certainly not be the last. I highly recommend The Metropolitan On Main as a must visit location when you're near downtown.
