This place had been on my to-try list for years and it didn't disappoint!! Had the pleasure of visiting Tei-An for my birthday yesterday and from start to finish it was wonderful. The ambiance and design were simple while being so chic and high end. We ordered the omakase menu and everything was delicious but I especially loved the sea bass and sashimi while my husband's favorite was the hot stone Wagyu! If you haven't tried fresh wasabi before please try it here if you get any sashimi. I would have never known I liked wasabi without visiting this restaurant! My favorite personal touch of the omakase was the tempura figs that were grown in the chefs own garden. How special!! The cocktails were all so delicious and complex as well and I especially loved the wasabi salted rim of the yuzu margarita and the lychee martini was the best I've ever had! What made the night extra special was the amazing service by each and every server we encountered! Our main waiter was amazing but I soon learned it must be a requirement to work here because every single person took such good care of us the whole night! My husband and I agree this just took top spot as our favorite meal of all time!

We celebrated a birthday at Tei-an. The interior of the restaurant was well done and had just the right amount of lighting. Very clean and well designed/thought out in all aspects of the restaurant. The food was delicious. The sashimi was fresh. Flavors and course order was planned and paced very well. We did the omakase which was high price but definitely worth experiencing at least once. Our favorite cut of the night was the yellowtail. It was so good we ordered it again after the omakase was complete. However, the thing that stands out the most at Tei-an was the service! Starting from the valet to the hosts, and our waiters were all very helpful and attentive.

Great service! Our server was kind, courteous, and took very good care of us from refilling sparkling water to answering questions about the daily special menuOur food came out beautifully and super flavorful! Will be excited to try their soba next.Great setting and ambience throughout the whole space. It's in the arts district, and it's like even the restaurant itself was touched with that Dallas arts district flair. Well done. Loved the flow and seating arrangements of the space.

Beautiful restaurant serving both authentic and creative Japanese foods with great attention to quality in ingredients and service. We went for a bachelor party and ordered the omakase. All the dishes were incredible, especially the wagyu beef. We were all incredibly full by the end of the meal and enjoyed our time here. They also have a fancy Japanese toilet which was an experience in itself.

I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to omakase at Tei-An. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding!SERVICE: 5/5Booking via Resy was simple, but when I needed to adjust our reservation because my partner wasn't up for omakase, the staff handled it with professionalism and ease. When we arrived, our seats were thoughtfully arranged, and our server, David, was knowledgeable and engaging, explaining each dish as it arrived. A special touch was how they adjusted my partner's seat and napkin while he was in the restroom--impressive attention to detail.OMAKASE: 5/5Every dish in the omakase was crafted with precision and care. The fresh blue tuna from a recent carving show elevated the sashimi, and the soba noodles were the best I've ever tasted. I got the sampler which featured intriguing flavors, like black sesame, that were new and exciting.ATMOSPHERE: 5/5The restaurant's ambiance was intimate and cozy, thanks to the soft lighting and minimalist Japanese decor. It created a soothing environment that perfectly complemented our meal.Overall, Tei-An delivered an exceptional dining experience that was well worth the cost.

We came here for a special occasion dinner and it made our evening even more special! The service was outstanding. We couldn't have been more pleased with our server's knowledge and ability to explain the dishes to us. He offered suggestions and made sure we were happy with our choices. It goes without saying that the food was amazing. We ordered the tasting menu and loved every dish. The ambiance was intimate and yet still lively. We had fun watching the chefs preparing our dishes. It was a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion!

Did lunch for two at the counter. While some of food was good, some was not. Tei-An falls short of competitors at its price-point. Ambiance - 5/5 Upscale. Serene. Excellent water-feature.Service - 3/5 Knowledgeable but affected and insincere. Reading between the lines is mandatory. The kind of place that judges you on your outfit.Tuna with Karashi Mustard - 4/5 An off-menu item recommended by the staff. Unusual and tasty.Yellowtail Collar - 4/5 Perfectly cooked, but nothing unique.Soba with Matsutake Mushrooms - 2/5 A waste of this precious ingredient. Sashimi - 2/5 Cuts advertised on the menu were not yet prepared by lunchtime, so we ended up with what the chef recommended, which was not impressive. Black Sesame Mousse - 5/5 Exceedingly creamy and rich in black sesame flavor. If you do come here, this is a must-order.Value - 2/5 Even at lunchtime, our meal here was significantly worse than other fine dining restaurants in Dallas, at a higher price point.

Second visit at Tei-An and was pretty satisfied on my second visit as well. Their service and atmosphere are top notch, and their food is also very good. While we enjoyed all the dishes our favorite is their soba sampler. I love the fact that you can enjoy different flavors of dipping sauce and their soba noodles are freshly made in house. Honestly not sure if I would strongly recommend this place for other food, for fresh soba, this is the place to go! Oh and their desserts are awesome too.

This is definitely a special occasion place. I wanted to try it since it ended up being close to the ballet. This place was dimly lit and where we were seated was mostly couples. Got a reservation right when they opened and it was nice. The place definitely gets loud as it starts to fill up. They gave me a basket to place my purse in so it wasn't hanging from my seat. TLDR: It's good but seriously for special occasions. I wouldn't say it's entirely unique or mind blowing. Most dishes are shareable and we left full without spending more than $300 after tip.Our server explained how the traditional course order went and was readily available with questions. They're fancy with the water here and it's like $8 a bottle. Started off with sushi which was very fresh and delicious. We ended up ordering it twice. The white seaweed salad was light and refreshing, for sure unique if you're not Asian I should've known lol but it was still nice to see how a restaurant prepared it versus my family. We also got the washu beef hot rock which ended up being one of my favorites. The main star and thing they're known for is the house made soba noodles, which I admit we're really good. I could eat double the portion the gave. The dipping broth that came with it was the perfect level of salty and they give you the soba liquid after to turn it into a sipping broth. The duck was overcooked to me :( miyazaki beef soba noodles with broth was also delicious and warming but nothing special. The beef was super tender. The soba ice cream was not what I expected. It was good and most of the sweetness came from the black honey but I think my favorite part was the toasted powder they had on top. It added a whole different profile to the dessert. All in all, it's a good restaurant but now that I've had it, I can cross it off the list and keep it that way.

I worked at Tei-An for three years as a dishwasher and line cook, as a means to support my medical and academic ambitions, and despite my experience and history, I never actually ate there due to my financial strains. I can say wholeheartedly that the dining experience that I once helped mold was one of the greatest I've ever had. The staff from the front and the back were as cordial and professional as one can ask for, and overall they treated everyone indiscriminately as a friend more than a customer. It would be a great shame to visit Dallas and not visit one of the most cathartic Japanese restaurants in the city, as no place mimics Tokyo as Tei-An.
