I've enjoyed every item I've had if you're looking for a great burger and fries it's here! Chicken pot pie yep it's here!

Service was great. Catfish, however, was not good. Like tasted off. Did not eat. Brought the issue to staff but still got charged. I want to support this place but they make it very hard.

I've been ripped off before... But this might just take the title of Biggest Rip Off.Eclipse Day... After popping into the absolutely swamped Intrinsic, I mistakenly gave Tavern another (final) chance... as they were hardly full. And hey, a $4 Deep Eddy Vodka Monday special. Not bad! They were hardly staffed, so apparently it was a good thing they didn't have an overwhelming crowd like literally every other place on the square.(It was nice not waiting in a long line to order, with a toddler... But the service was still about as long, overall.)The poor bartender was being barked at by (guessing the owner) Alice, after making my drink, while I checked the menu. Ordered the black and blue burger. She asked me temperature. Medium. We sat outside and they found us to bring the burger.Sooooo WELL done... Bacon and bleu cheese crumbles, but no sauce, dressing, anything. Tried to add some mayo from the table, but that wasn't saving this dry puck.The two behind the bar didn't come outside unless they absolutely had to (like the girl coming to ask if I was me, to then return with the food and bring my 2nd drink)... Being with a toddler outside, it would have been nice to be checked on at literally any point in time, as I couldn't go in... But I guess what do you expect when there's 2 people to a half full place........Not having time to let them try again, I finally pulled the bus boy from the other side of the patio, to get some bleu cheese dressing for my very over cooked burger.(It's not the first dry burger I've had to choke down, but it's the most expensive!)Meanwhile I couldn't figure out why my drink tasted... different? Finally I realized she must have put soda, instead of Sprite. Was able to pop in... and wait... and wait.... and wait... Since the one bartender is busy in the kitchen with, what I overheard was a mixed up to go order... (so it's not just literally everything they do for me that's not working out for them. Cool.) And Alice is... setting up some buffet thing in the corner or something. As more people line up behind me trying to order drinks/arrive.Finally get a remake on my drink and back to my $15 dry, but now dripping in sauce burger, and mediocre at best, soft fries.Went in to pay, no one behind the bar, so went to the restroom, where I also changed a diaper, wash hands etc... and still had to wait for someone to come back to the bar. Hand the card over and... the printer runs out of paper as it was running the charge.So I get asked to check my bank statement to make sure I got changed... Lol. I check, and in the confusion and thorough dissatisfactiom, I didn't pay attention to the amount, and stupidly didn't take the printed receipt.Got across the street and check my bank again to see it's like $6 more than I expected, since I had a $15 burger and two $4 drinks... Go back in to ask and get told, "Oh. That's because we aren't usually open on Mondays, so no, that special wasn't in effect..." I said, "You're not open on Monday's, but have a Mon special on the board?" Alice says, "Oh, well, we usually don't open till 3 on Monday's."Well... That would have been REALLY nice to know that you weren't honoring the advertised specials for the day... That never listed a time, just the day.I told her that literally everything was not the best experience, and she said she knew and felt bad...That was it. Bad feelings all around, I guess.This was one of the first flops downtown, for us, since things started moving in years ago... Just trying too hard to be a lot fancier than anything you ever recieve, food or service, and it's never worth half the price you pay... Just got WAIT at a busy place and you'll have a better experience, for sure.

Fun little neighborhood bar! Downtown Garland doesn't have a ton of options but if you're there, check this place out. Small hole in the wall that the locals love! They have decent food, great service and a DJ on the weekends. Only negative is that it closes way too early for a bar!

Great neighborhood restaurant. Wednesday night Music Bingo is a lot of fun and you can win gift cards and money?Chicken Pot Pie is one of my favorite GO-TO's. The chicken pot pie filling is flavorful and plenty. Add to that the flaky wonderful crust on top makes for an amazing meal (every time).

This place is amazing, my partner and I come all the time! The brisket macaroni and cheese sandwich is one of the best meals I've had in ages, and the employees work really hard- which I really appreciate. If you're ever in the area, I can't recommend Tavern on the Square enough!

The drink specials are great the happy hour is Mon- Friday $3.50 wells & $5.00 margs strawberry & lime. The beers domestic & imports are $1.00 off plus Tuesday- Friday they have $10 lunch specials. The food menu is yummy. Best Texas Twinkies, chicken fried chicken meal & much more. Staff is great, super down to earth and wonderful cooks. Cute little spot in down town highly recommend

First time here. We planned to eat at Intrinsic but the line to order was almost halfway to the door. We did go back to hear the Karaoke as that was our original plan for dining and entertainment. Walked in to Tavern and no one was at the door to greet or seat us, so I walked up to the bar & told the bartender we were first timers. She sat us and was our server. Place was packed and staff, including our server doubling as a bartender, seemed overwhelmed, assumed short-staffed. Food was good size portions at reasonable prices. Reason for the 3-star is lack of service when we entered and because a guest was vaping at the bar, and no one seemed to care or notice. White male, ball cap, shorts, white athletic shoes, mid to late 40s or 50's. With so many options for food in Garland, we probably won't be back.

We decided to try this for the first time for lunch. I heard people saying they had great food. Our waitress staff was very friendly. The restaurant was clean. I'm not sure on the bathrooms. I didn't go that far. They have a lot of options like other restaurants but enough. We got the for dip appetizer. The dips were good but not great. I felt like they needed more seasoning or just some salt and pepper. The salsa was kind of bland and the guacamole so fresh looking. I did love their chips and the black bean dip though. My husband got his burger first and enjoyed it. I had to wait on my food a little bit longer. I got a margarita, pizza and a side of fries. fries were actually pretty tasty and warm. The margarita pizza had a beautiful presentation which I loved. The pizza was OK. I felt it was lacking in flavor. Tomatoes didn't seem very fresh and the cheese didn't really taste like anything. I think there is room for improvement and it could be become a great little spot. I was just disappointed since it was kind of an early lunch for anniversary tomorrow.

Ambiance was great, they played a lot of Spanish music!! Drinks were 10/10 !! Just hoped they'd stayed open for longer!! especially on Fridays & Saturdays they kicked us out by midnight on a Friday night
