I used to come to this place several years ago and followed one of the co-owners at the time to his new place, when the partnership ended. When it first opened this place was pretty good.Recently I was meeting a friend in the area and we were both hungry for sushi and so I suggested we meet up here. Yikes, had it changed! I was so disappointed, I cannot go back. The food was worse than average and the service was not great either. I did not see familiar faces, so I believe it has changed hands at least one more time since I used to frequent them several years ago.

Absolutely terrible experience.I recently went to this local sushi spot in north Dallas after seeing its high Yelp ratings - however, after eating there, I must report that its positive Yelp reviews are outdated. The truth must be exposed about this establishment!1. The quality of fish is terrible. It's cheap and tastes like something out of a can. Yes, the prices are cheap, but its not worth risking your stomach!2. There is no authentic Japanese influence in the methods used to make the sushi. Our rolls came out crumpled, deformed and compact. Nothing as the pictures show! The rolls were unevenly cut and falling apart by the time they arrived at our table. 3. Directions were given to NOT include avocado in any of the sushi rolls ordered (someone had a severe allergy at our table). However, the sushi chef ignored the instructions and insisted on using avocado as decoration on top of the sushi! When the waitress reminded him of the allergy, he simply removed the avocado slices and told her to serve them to our table anyway! Rather than respecting the allergy restriction, the restaurant put a customer at risk of experiencing a severe allergic reaction! When the sushi came to our table, we could see remains of avocado on all of the rolls from where it had been removed. The sushi chef didn't think it would affect the dish since it was only on top of the sushi instead of inside of it! Terrible!Following this incident, we asked for the check in order to avoid wasting any more time there. Consider yourself warned so you don't waste your time there either!

Sooo the sushi here is not the best! The portions are small and the quality is ok! I ordered the Cajun roll which was pretty taste. I also ordered the green tea Ice cream which was disgusting compared to the ones I've had at other restaurants. Now on to the good stuff, the customer service! The staff is very nice and pretty quick! It took the chef maybe 5-10 min to make the sushi and the waitress was very sweet! In all I wouldn't recommend this restaurant due to the quality of food but the staff is nice! :)

Remember the last time you had one of those days where you crave the taste of a warm, yummy sushi roll, dipped in your specialty soy blend of ginger and wasabi concoction? You question whether or not to try an unfamiliar place or keep it copacetic; as your tummy is growling like an Elite Yelper when newbie Yelps violate TOS. Reasoning quickly gives in to hunger pains...Hunger pains then lead me to the closest sushi joint I can find. Feed me, Seymour! The food and atmosphere was fair. I am not 100% convinced I will go back again, but I have not ruled out the possibility should the occasion arise.I thought the price was a little much and figured it's the only way a small sushi shop can stay in business. My theory with sushi is: smaller shops tend, but not always, to spend less on "top-quality" ingredients; thereby, only giving you middle-of-road food at a slightly higher than preferred price. In all fairness I've had horrible sushi before - - this is not one of those I would drop in the grease. It's a clean restaurant....friendly workers....there's not much else to say. Other than if you're extremely finicky eater and don't want to second guess your higher-standard taste buds, I wouldn't recommend you go here. If, however, you're comfortable with trying new sushi dives, not always a bad choice, give it a whirl.

Ichiban in Japanese means number one or the best. Please do not be fooled. This place is awful. It doesn't surprise me that no one has reviewed it yet; I'm surprised anyone has ever even been there. I never would've chosen it myself, but it was my friends' turn to pick. They'd "heard good things". A sushi chef friend of mine once told me that the true test of a sushi place is their tamago (cooked egg). I agree with this and order it everywhere I go. Theirs was cold, falling apart and had an old egg tinge of brown to it. The eel on my eel roll was rubbery, and the sushi rice was dry. The miso was flavorless and the gyoza were soggy. My companion's kare age (fried chicken) were tough stringy little balls of mystery and their potato salad tasted like putty. To top it all off, it was all seriously overpriced and they messed our orders up and were surly about fixing them. And I hate to be a snob, but not one person working there was Japanese. I asked if they had curry and the lady had to audacity to tell me Japanese people don't eat curry, I was thinking of an Indian restaurant. I should've left at that point.

Please note the bad reviews from this place are from 2008! They're old and they gotta go. Also worth noting: they are 0.3 miles from the SUSHI DISTRIBUTOR OF DFW. Freshness? Not an issue. The Mom/Pop of this Mom & Pop place could take your order, walk to the distributor, buy the fresh sushi grade product, walk back, cut it up, and serve it to you. In less than 1/2 hour. Now here's the best part: MY JAPANESE WIFE LIKES THIS PLACE. She's actually FROM JAPAN. She really likes it. Says it's as good as Sushi Yama. She knows more about sushi than you. Me? I liked it, Their supply of Japanese beer was fresh and really cold.

This has become one of my favorite spots to hit up for sushi now that my old favorite changed management. Sushi Ichiban is a mom and pop shop; very small and quaint , the wife takes your orders and the husband makes the orders at the bar. One of my favorite things to order off the menu here is the Dynamite, it's a rice dish topped with scallops and crawfish drizzled with spicy mayo. Sounds crazy but it's delicious! They also have one of the best deep fried ice cream that has strawberry jelly inside. (Drooling at the mouth as I write this.) As for the sushi that I usually rotate between include the spider roll, jalapeno roll, yellowtail roll, tempura roll, terry-san's roll and caterpillar roll. Round this all off with a crazy order of fried ice cream and you should expect nothing less of a food coma after lunch break. I keep coming back to Sushi Ichiban for more, simply because of the freshness of their food as well as great service. Happy eatings! :)

Amazing quality food and it's inexpensive for the quality. I ordered bento boxes and ramen and even sushi and it was all under $100 for two people !!!

The menu selection was quite odd, with some especially unusual items listed for a sushi restaurant. Between the staff awkwardly watching me go over the menu, the vague roll descriptions, and the empty silence, this lunch was already going downhill. I decided to just get the tuna tataki, which was good, but when I received the bill, I noticed that the price (before tax) was more than what was listed on the menu. I was already over this visit, so I opted to focus my attention on where I was going next to finish my lunch.
