I was pleasantly surprised by Sugarbacon for my first visit. (Catered Christmas party)I was impressed with the bar area (strong bourbon selection) , food and overall ambience. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp pasta and short rib. Staff was highly friendly and we had a great time as time flew by. They have dry aged steak which I hope to try on my next visit. Looked great on display btw. My second visit was for apps and drinks and Hank the bartender was very attentive throughout the night. Overall, Suganbacon is a solid restaurant with huge upside. Special thanks to GM, Michael for spending some time with us as well. Def must try on McKinney.

This should probably be a 1-star experience, but the service recovery made me believe in the place enough to aim higher. We came here for lunch after a bustling downtown weekend made us give up on our brunch reservations. We were surprised to find this spot completely empty. We had a party of six, and ordered a few apps and several entries and proceeded to wait for-e-v-errr. When the food finally came out, half of the entries were ice cold, and one was the totally wrong item. The manager, Matt, saved the day. He stepped in to find out what should have been ordered up, and offered to quickly re-make everything correctly. Then he comped the whole meal excluding the alcohol. Above and beyond. Not sure how they're making any money if this is a typical experience, but they'd be better served in hiring a dozen Matt's as servers than in giving away cold food.

Great service and atmosphere. Menu options all sounded great and decided to go with the brunch menu. Had the Sugar bacon appetizer, the espresso martini, and the brisket toast with truffle tots! Amazing flavors for all! My husband had the Proper Brunch Burger (delicious and expect to make a mess). Will definitely come back when in the area.

Heard great things about this place- but service was not the best- fries were cold but we asked for a redo- better the second time around and didn't have a lot of interesting options to choose from. Kind of bland. Friends were pretty sad about their chose. They didn't think the entree matched the menu description and the flavors didn't mesh well. They were thrown off by the off putting color the avocado cream. A miss this time for us.

We were visiting from out of town and picked this restaurant because it was different and had a cool back story of being a service station and unique menu. We had a reservation and arrived early and although the restaurant was empty except for two tables it seemed to throw the 2 girls at the front desk. They took us to a small table in the middle of the room-made for 2 people. I didn't make a fuss because I was with other people but I hate sitting in the middle of a room and especially at a table made for 2 instead of 4-plenty of booths on both sides as well as larger tables in the same row. Our server took a long time to come greet us and then again to come back and take our order. The food was excellent and definitely had a small twist to some of them that made them special. We all made small changes to our choices and the server repeated them all and the kitchen made all of the changes for us without any problems. The prices are comparable and the interior has a neat vibe! Since we went for brunch the noise wasn't an issue at all.

Loved the atmosphere! Very modern. Friendly staff, quick service! It's located downtown so you're in walking distance of shops and other restaurants.

This restaurant is super cute and spacious. It wasn't packed on a Friday night which was surprising since it's located in downtown McKinney. Our server was excellent and very efficient. Our food was kind of a mixed bag. For example, my friend ordered one of the steak options and it came with just mashed potato (which he said wasn't good- and felt like it lacked a vegetable). Second example- my chicken sandwich was quite likely the best chicken sandwich I've ever had but the fries were really basic for being truffle fries. Appetizers: ménage a hog- delish Hushpuppies- delishChicken sandwich- phenomenalTruffle fries- mid at best Scallops- 10/10 not a fan. It could have been a bad day. I didn't even try the scallop. My friend did and I actually just tried the risotto which was way too watery and lacking in flavor. While this place was good, they didn't really stick to the bacon theme throughout the menu. There is so much opportunity to add bacon to all options.

We went here because of the good reviews when we were in town. The service was good and attentive and the ambiance was fun. However, I didn't find the food that amazing. We ordered the pork belly and it was pretty good. We also got the fried green tomatoes and goat cheese fondue. My mom and I split the filet and my cousin got the chicken pesto pasta. I felt the filet lacked flavor and my cousin's pasta was over sauced. My sister got the shrimp and grits and was not a fan as she said the watermelon chutney gave it a weird taste and the flavors didn't go well together.

Amazing experience ! Service was wonderful - timely, personable, enjoyed it; atmosphere was cool, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was more than 10 out of 10! Three of us could not rank all the dishes. Too many #1's !! Can't wait to go back
