Love this place: it offers great entertainment at affordable prices. I've watched three of their plays so far, and I plan to continue attending. The performances are remarkable and well prepared. The man at the desk, Jason, is always so kind and professional. The ambience is intimate, seating is comfortable, the stage decor is praiseworthy.

Absolutely one of the best community theater groups in the area. They perform classics such as Shakespeare and Jane Austen as well as musicals ranging from classics such as Guys and Dolls to the modern comedy Spamalot. The rock-bottom ticket prices are a huge bonus, as one would easily pay a great deal more to see such talent in another venue.

We had seen Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at Plaza Theater in Cleburn where it was free of profanity and sexual inuendo. After checking with Stolen Shakespear Guild's website for any disclaimers, we invited friends and purchased tickets. After we arrived, we saw the PG13 disclaimer for language printed in the program, and that was indeed true. That information needs to be available to the public before tickets are purchased. The sound is poor in this theater and seating is chairs on risers. Drive a little farther to Cleburne if you want entertainment without offensive material. Ticket prices are comparable with actual theater seats, parking is free, the performers have microphones, and the productions are family friendly.

Jason and Laura Morgan have founded an interesting formula for sustainable live theatre. They alternate well-staged, nattily costumed, perfectly cast, and crisply directed musical productions of shows like Guys and Dolls (they restored a scene near the end that was not in the movie, and which made the ending make perfect sense) with Shakespeare and end up with a great variety of shows and a diversity of patrons.Actors are often required to do double duty in their annual Shakespeare festival, which has featured well-known shows like Midsummer Nights Dream with a show from the Shakespeare Apocrypha, The Birth of Merlin.Staging and costumes are creative without overshadowing the writing or the characterization, and the diverse directors and actors achieve the often difficult goal of making Shakespeare accessible and entertaining in spite of the language differences between his time and ours, and because his plot devices and characters are ultimately timeless. The Arts District in Ft. Worth, where Stolen Shakespeare Guild makes its home is readily and quickly accessible even from Dallas suburbs like Garland. To double your fun, make a day of it, and visit the excellent museums, including not only the well-known Kimble and Amon Carter, but also The Modern. If you tire of steak and Mexican food, Ft. Worth also offers ample opportunity for a pub crawl of several great local establishments, serving a variety of imported and local brews up with darts and rugby players, as well as actors.Heck, make a weekend of it.

Stolen Shakespeare Guild's performance of "Monty Pythons Spamalot" was wonderfully entertaining. A great time was had by audience and cast at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. It was truly a treat, and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised at the price paid for the show. I would have gladly paid more and will definitely return in the future! The cast was absolutely wonderful and the theater was very intimate which was a plus for me. The fact that the production didn't have all the bells and whistles made for a huge success in my book. I was completely mesmerized by the cast throughout both acts! If you love theater don't miss a chance to see Stole Shakespeare Guild.
