This was a real treat! My wife took me here for my birthday. I didn't know where we were going but she said she looked up steak places and Sinatra and landed here. Good choice!First, the valet parking is free. There's no real signage saying this outside, I just guessed and pulled into the hotel lot. The valet told me and took care of that so that was great. The restaurant is up on the seventh floor of the "Sweaxan" hotel. Who came up with that name, really? Sweaty Texan? Is that it? I mean truth in advertising I guess. Our summers are brutal.Very swanky inside. Host showed us to the elevators and scanned his card and hit 7 so up we went.We were seated in one of their excellent half-circle booths. They have curtains drawn back but you could see famous people tucked into one of these discussing roles or a new play. Very nice. The place was decked out for the holidays which was great. Made it feel festive. Otherwise I'd have to say the decor is pretty dark and stark. Some lit black and white photos along a wall, some glass and wood, but black walls black ceiling, no big art pieces from where we sat. But you know I'd say it's like a modern chic thing going on here. Not pretentious.Which they weren't - pretentious I mean - the staff isn't snobby - they are very nice and talkative and approachable and helpful. The service here was excellent and really made the place if you ask me.They had a nice hand written card on the table for me, the birthday boy. It's a nice touch. The food I would give 4 stars. They sell their own "family brand" of steak here, which I got, and it was good, but I can't say it would have been any better than a normal filet. It also came with a little dish of barbeque sauce? I tried it with the steak and it was excellent but it totally overpowered my palate. Avoid it unless you are a bbq sauce aficionado. Or if you are the kind of guy who likes ketchup on your steak. I did opt for the truffle butter but you know it didn't add much to the steak. The steak is good on it's own - don't bother with any sauce. The Brussell sprouts were excellent - the sauce and giant bacon bits in there were so good. Their mac and cheese side is excellent - easily some of the best out there. The mushrooms were weird - it's like they were all finely diced and had a very vinegary and rosemary/taragon thing to it - it was overpowering. Plain mushroom slices cooked in butter woulda done it, guys.Their mixed drink list didn't stand out to us - We got a bottle of white which they keep in an ice bucket out of arms reach which first annoyed me but the service is so good - always checking in and refilling your glass - no problems there - these guys are killing it.We LOVED the little birthday cake thing complete with a candle! That desert might be the single best restaurant desert thing I've ever had! So rich and textured - ugh I want it now!--Expensive, excellent service, food is ok, wine is great, ambiance is great. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a great beginning or end of a night out on the town!

Not going to say that it was terrible but I will just say there is a reason this restaurant has 3.7 stars on yelp. I think they are trying their best to make you feel taken care of but in my case there was two waiters assigned to the table plus a sommelier plus a manager who would take an order as well if you needed anything so we had four people asking us if we're okay or need anything every 5 minutes which became extremely overwhelming by the end of the night Same goes to the moment where the check arrived we asked for separate checks and the waitress kindly provided us with one then our second waiter came and by the end of transaction we ended up being charged and refunded 4! Times. So definitely they need to either communicate or just assign one table per table. When it comes to food it is very mediocre we did try a variety of appetizers, side dishes, and main dishes and I was certainly not impressed, we ordered cheesecake for dessert and it was very blah so I had to send it back. I did have 3 Negronis and those were delicious! Valet is located it in the front entrance of the Swexan hotel and is very efficient. I will not be returning to this place and really hope your experience will be better than mine!

My friend and I decided to celebrate Galentine's Day here and we were thoroughly disappointed. To point out the highlights - they offer valet (tips), the restaurant (bar side) is decorated with a Texas twist, and they offer a variety of cocktails, wine, and other liberations for you to enjoy. The customer service was very overwhelming as we had multiple individuals coming to our table throughout the night - drink/food orders, check ups, etc. Although, we did appreciate the attentiveness they offered it resulted in a confusing dining experience. We ordered multiple appetizers for the table - tuna crudo, beef dumplings, and lobster bisque. We did enjoy the dumplings and lobster bisque but the crudo was lacking. We were expecting more of a citrus flavoring instead of the sesame oil which was overpowering. For my dinner, I ordered seared scallops and sides for the table - creamed corn, roasted mushrooms - and my friend ordered brussel sprouts and crispy potato salad and for her dinner - ora king salmon. The tastiness of the side was expected but they could've came out a little hotter (temperature). The brussel sprouts had a good crispness and sauce layered on top and I was pleasantly surprised by the crispy potato salad as the flavoring was good. I was content with the creamed corn and mushrooms. The scallops had a crisp top layer (which is nice) but offered a salty aftertaste and I didn't enjoy the sweet potato purée it came it. Again, everything was lukewarm. My friend unfortunately didn't enjoy her salmon or the side it came with - bean salad - as she mentioned the mushiness of it. We finished with a strawberry cheesecake for dessert and my friend had to send it back due to not enjoying it. The night ended with my card being charged 4 times due to the waiter's confusion! One waiter brought our checks and we provided our cards but another waiter completed the transactions. Currently, I have $594.30 pending on my account and $265.21, of that, is from another customer's check that the waiter ran MY card on. This made for a TERRIBLE ending to already mediocre night. I'll definitely be watching my account to make sure all the charges fall off and the correct charge is posted. Unfortunately, I wont return here.

This was my second time coming and the service was even better before! The manager came over several times to check on us, and our waitress/bartender was very accommodating and sweet. I also recommend grabbing a table outside if you can! The view of downtown dallas is very pretty! Especially during sunset. Just got the caesar salad and fries.

I visited Stillwells in April 2024 and again this past weekend during the last weekend of Dallas Restaurant Week. Stillwells, located inside the Swexan Hotel, offers an exceptional dining experience. My recent visit was truly memorable. I enjoyed a delicious 4-course meal: Caramelized Onion Dip, Caesar Salad, a perfectly cooked 6 oz filet, and Grilled Peaches for dessert. The steak was cooked to perfection, and every dish was full of flavor. Our server, Joel, was outstanding--attentive, timely, and genuinely pleasant. He even named a mock-tail after me, a mix of pineapple juice, ginger ale, and strawberry that I created. The setting was intimate and dimly lit, creating a cozy atmosphere. While we dined indoors, the terrace with its city view would have been a great option as well. The Swexan Hotel also features a speakeasy on the bottom floor, which adds to the charm of the place. The hostess was very friendly and even took some pictures of me, and the manager was equally pleasant. Overall, Stillwells continues to impress, and I highly recommend it for a special night out.

Love this restaurant, great food, service and ambience. Took my daughter for her 18th birthday and they were incredible, leaving her a handwritten birthday card, brining her the largest slice of cake, and being intentional about every minute of our time with them.

This is a handsome restaurant outfitted in dark woods and romantic low lighting. Service was above and beyond. We started with the Crab Cake appetizer which was served on brioche. The crab cake had a lot of filler and not much flavor and I didn't love the combo of crab cake and brioche. But hey, our waiter recommended the Beef Dumplings and we didn't listen to him! For our entree hubby and I shared the 12 oz Akaushi filet. Akaushi beef is a specific Wagyu cattle breed known for being incredibly tender and flavorful . This cut was from the HWD selection which boasts regenerative ranching. I did look this up, but will pass on a description in this review. Let's just say it sounds eco-friendly. Back to the review... this steak was amazing. It had a spectacular crispy and charred crust and a perfect medium rare center. Honestly it may be the best steak I've eaten. We also had the roasted mushrooms and the potato purée. So good! The sommelier was extremely accommodating. He opened a bottle of Chablis for me, even though I only wanted a glass. It was an excellent recommendation. All in all, a fabulous dinner.

We loved the service of the staff. We made a reservation in advance for our wedding anniversary and got a booth. Lovely view but the velvet couches made it hard to sit and move around a booth shaped table. We tried several dishes but our favorite was the cauliflower and special venison for the night. We were pretty stuffed after the main entrees and decided to skip dessert so they brought us complimentary wine instead. We felt it was a special ambiance for the occasion but wished there was a little more variety on the menu for us to sample. It's a standard meat and potatoes steakhouse menu.

I say this with caution, but a ton of experience: The HWD Cowboy steak may be the best steak in the country. It was cooked to perfection and the meat was extraordinary. It is now a top choice for my last meal.
