Some of my classmates went to SMU but have never had Shug's Bagels before. It was time to change that. We met up at Shug's bagels at the original location on mockingbird, right at the entrance of SMU. It was a Monday but it was packed, there was a constant line of people ordering the whole time that we were there. The line can get long but it moves very fast. They're known for their bagel sandwiches, which you can get a breakfast version or a lunch version with chicken cutlets. I got their spicy shug sandwich on an everything bagel with a few add ons (basically all of them lol). They're famous for their signature snug sandwich, which is a bagel with bacon, egg (I got mine scrambled), cheese, and a hash brown. I got the spicy version with hot sauce and pepper jack cheese, and subbed the bacon for sausage. I also added avocado and scallion cream cheese for an additional charge. You can also add salt, pepper, and ketchup for no charge. My bagel sandwich was huge, it was definitely a jaw workout. Everything about this bagel was perfect. The cheese was melty, the avocado and cream cheese was creamy, and the hash brown and sausage added a little crispiness/snap. The everything bagel also provided a title saltiness to top it off. This angel basically had every texture and flavor combined and I enjoyed every bit of it. This is a must try if you're ever in the area. They also have a newer location in Oak Lawn

I'm the complete opposite from a bagel snob. In fact, the only time I really eat bagels is when someone brings them to work. If you're a Dallas foodie, you'll have heard about Shug's! Been on my list, but never around at a convenient time. Tbh I was wanting to go to Lubbie's instead (more so cause they were top of mind), but they close at 2p on Sunday. They have breakfast and lunch bagels. They have the whole menu (small on the fridges or something) when you walk right in, but there are no prices on it. Then they have the menu on the wall with prices. I wish the smaller menu had prices. Or that they have those laminated menus that most places have, so people have time to look before getting in line,.You order at the front and they call out your number. Since it's made to order, it may take a bit depending on how busy it is. It was pretty busy and was surprised we found a spot to sit. There are some chairs outside too.The base breakfast shug and spicy shug are $10.25. Classic lox $13.50. The lunch ones are closer to ~$13. Turkey is $13.50 Got the Chopped Cheese (ground beef) for $12. I actually thought it said chopped beef and was surprised that it was ground beef.. I wouldn't have gotten it if I knew it was ground beef. it's a decent size and filling. And I enjoyed it. But value wise... I'm not blown away. But I do understand the hype.the regular bagel and smear seemed like there was a lot of cream cheese.I wish I just tried the breakfast shug. Maybe next time.. I think they would find some success if they opened a location in the suburbs. They are also not the only bagel shop in town anymore...

My colleague that graduated from SMU recommended this spot for breakfast as according to her is the only bagel shop available in Dallas. Didn't do my research so I'll take her word for it. There is a nice long line, that goes out the door, but the line moves relatively quick. The real waiting starts after ordering as toasting and putting together breakfast sandwiches takes time.I got the Shug ($10.25) which is a bacon, egg, and cheese with hash browns. This for sure hit the spot after a late night of drinking. They also have a Spicy Shug, where they add hot sauce with the aforementioned ingredients. Don't know how I feel about eating that on an empty stomach, so I wussed out of that. Anyways, if you're reading this and contemplating eating here, just do it.

Great place to get a bagel. The lines are always long but the bagels are always fresh. I recommend ordering online and picking up.I love their breakfast bagels! They did get my order wrong and forgot my hash brown :( but honestly it was still good regardless. Inside it's quite small but there are some spots to sit. Highly recommend trying

It's hard to find quality bagels in DFW - especially if you've had a NY bagel. Shug's is one of the few bagel spots out here that can come relatively close to. Even on their busiest day, the line moves relatively fast and they stay stocked . Upon closing, they were even offering half off a dozen bagels . I had their classic lox bagel on a plain bagel and my fiance had the Reuben - both of us were pleasantly surprised . All in all, I recommend this spot if you're tired of experiencing mediocrity when it comes to bagels in the Dallas area.

I had the pleasure of visiting Shug's Bagel during my stay in Dallas. This place was packed on a weekend morning. Ordering online was a breeze. I arrived a bit early, and they got to work on my order right away, finishing it even quicker than they estimated. I took my order to go which was a good call since it was so crowded. There were so many tempting options on the menu, but I went with a simple egg and cheese on an everything bagel, and it was delicious.I heard they are opening a store in New Orleans soon. I can't wait!

I'm from Austin, but on my trip to Dallas I passed by shugs. The bagels - impeccable. I do think it's too pricy considering the parking is hard to find and there is little to no dining areas. One thing I found very frustrating here was their website. I think it needs to be updated as it was not very user friendly. For the delicious bagels that they have, they should really have a better experience on their website. I would love to see this place grow - hope their mobile experience gets better. Apart from that, I have no notes on the delicious food.
