An exquisite omakase experience in Dallas! Chef Jimmy makes you feel like family and every piece is a delectable piece of art. I especially loved the nigiri, excellent quality and just so smooth in your mouth. The staff are all personable and attentive.Highly recommend the later seating, so not to feel rushed out. We usually book the last seating.

The food was absolutely delicious, and nearly every dish was executed to perfection. We had the pleasure of being served by Chef Jimmy, whose expertise and passion for his craft were evident throughout the meal. The toro and Chilean seabass stood out as the most memorable dishes for me. The toro was rich, buttery, and practically melted in my mouth. The addition of truffle enhanced its flavor beautifully. The Chilean seabass was equally impressive--soft, buttery, and so tender it melted with every bite. Chef Jimmy's presentation of each dish was skillful, showcasing an attention to detail. That said, there were a couple of things that didn't quite meet my expectations. While eating the shinshu salmon, I found a fish scale in my piece. I understand that this can happen--it's fish, after all--but at a fine dining restaurant of this caliber, I expect a higher level of precision. It didn't ruin the meal, but it was disappointing given the setting and premium price point.Another thing I didn't love was the shots served at the end of the dinner. Last year, they served champagne, which felt much more appropriate and elegant for a fine dining experience. The champagne added a celebratory touch and helped wrap up the meal on a high note. In comparison, the shots felt out of place and a bit cheap for the atmosphere. On the positive side, Chef Jimmy's personality really stood out. He's funny and makes the whole experience feel a lot more personal and fun. If you ever have a chance, I recommend reading about his backstory. It's inspiring and gives you an even greater appreciation for the effort he puts into his work. He's clearly very talented and hardworking, and it was a pleasure to see him in action. I hope to visit again next year. Thank you again chef Jimmy.

This restaurant is one of the closest experiences to Japanese high end sushi we can get in North America. The decorations are beautiful and the restaurant is very clean. We were sat by the bar table with other guests and the chefs made all the food in front of us. Don't be late, because we were late and made the rest of guests waited 5 minutes for us, the traffic is always bad in downtown Dallas, but they have a valet service outside, which is a lifesaver. The food is excellent, we had 14- course omakase. It is sushi with western philosophy and twist, so do not expect that you are getting a traditional sushi master omakase here, assuming at least you have been to Japanese prestigious sushi restaurants. They serve some special fish here that you don't see much in regular sushi restaurants here. If you are looking for umami exploration, this is a good place. However, the consistency of rice temperature varies on nigiri, the sushi were not melting in my mouth as I expected. The dessert vanilla ice cream is creamy but not enough vanilla taste for me. They have good sake selection, I wish they have small sake cups like they do in Japan instead of wine glasses. They also offer in house marinated ginger and cavalier pairing for a price. It is great experience, and the price is reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant. The chefs explain the fish and take pride of their work. Ambience: 10/10Food:10/10Price: 10/10Service: 10/10

I've heard so many great things about Shoyo but didn't try it until recently. I wish I came here sooner because this has got to be one of my FAVORITE omakase spots in Dallas. Not only do the staff greet you warmly and make you feel so comfortable, but the courses here have a unique take and are DELICIOUS! I have never had caviar in this truffle marinade (not sure what it was exactly), but it paired so perfectly with the toro. There were several pleasantly surprising flavor combinations. You can come here for date night or night out with friends!

I was looking for an omakase spot to celebrate my husband's birthday and through Asian Grub in DF Dub's Facebook group, I found Shoyo. My people did not disappoint! We luckily got a lunch spot within the same week. The lunch is the more traditional omakase while dinner is more inventive, per Shoyo's website. I was so impressed with lunch that I now want to do dinner. Overall experience was immaculate! The facade of the restaurant was sleek. Black with gold accents. Once you step in, it's like another world. We were greeted by a wonderful gentleman, offering mimosas. We got there a little early so we sat in the waiting area until they were ready to seat us. They took us in one party at a time based on the order the parties arrived. When we were called, they opened up a cantilever door and they brought us to our seats. I loved the intimacy of it. There are only 14 seats available and 3 sushi chefs. By far, my favorite dish was the Chilean sea bass. Don't get me wrong, everything was delicious! The fish was super fresh, but the sea bass was something I couldn't get my mind off of. The textures were exquisite! It completely made this girl's tongue happy lol Would highly recommend! Husband and I have plans to go here again, but for dinner this time to see what kind of creative dish they come up with.

Scored last minute reservations on resy.com for lunch at Shoyo. Extremely fresh, ranging from Baja California & Faroe Islands, Denmark. Minimalistic garnishes & sauces such as yuzu, so focus can be on the seafood. All items were incredible, but we thoroughly enjoyed the slow cooked salmon (melt in yo' mouth like butt-ah), tamago & uni. Enjoyed chatting with other diners as well & it was fantastic dining; could've sat there forever & just let the experience linger in my mouth *sigh*

We had an amazing experience .So glad I was able to get the reservation on my birthday. The food was really good. Well worth the price you pay for. Bursting with flavor because of the different seasonings they use. I don't know if that is the right way of explaining it. But food was just wow.The service was excellent. Our chef for the night was Jimmy. He prepared our dishes with care and his interactions with us, his group, made the whole experience fun and so much worth the big bucks. Very cool vibe.Plan on arriving earlier than your check-in time. Parking is a challenge.

Reservations are released the first of each month aka *stressful morning* attempting to get a reservation. For the month of September they added on Saturday/Sunday lunch and Sunday evening times. I was able to get a Sunday evening reservation for 2 for $150 each. Normal omakase price for the other dinner reservations are $195 each. I wasn't expecting a 20 course meal! Everything was so so so amazing and well prepared. The chef was very attentive to us and spoke to us throughout the courses about his work life and experiences. Would most definitely go back again. We were there for about 2 and half hours and left satisfied and full! Love the decor of the place and the great customer service. A la carte menu is also available for after the courses. Highly recommend to check out shoyo! Parking: street parking available, free parking lot across from shoyo and parking lot back behind shoyo

Believe the hype. This is a world class level. A true modern twist to the game while preserving the essence of sushi. I enjoy new concepts personally. OG can be great but a lot more personality and flare can be found at Shoyo.Great environment. Omakases can drag out and be boring sometimes, but Shoyo understands how to keep it fun and lively. I compare it to like going to a magic show with amazing food. Twists and turns along the way to keep us entertained and energized.Loved Jimmy. Great charisma and a real expert on sushi. We wanted to go again right away
