Good portion size. Everything was flavorful, not salty or greasy, if you let the rice soak up the kung pao sauce it has a good kick to it. The hot and sour soup has a hearty amount of tofu and egg in it.The kung pao shrimp came with what I thought was too much celery. There was plenty of shrimp, but I would have been happier with a smaller portion if it meant a better celery to everything else ratio.

Quick, easy, and cheap. This place made for a nice easy lunch on my break. I got hot and sour soup and vegetable fried rice. It was very tasty.

Damn, I hate it when I think I might have found a new place to eat, only to be disappointed. I got the shrimp fried rice again and it was good. I got a small order of sweet and sour chicken and it was good. I decided to try their sweet and sour shrimp since the chicken version is so good. That's where I went wrong. First, the shrimp was very dark and gave the appearance that it might be overcooked. However, when you bite into one of the pieces, you are met with a bunch of coating and raw batter inside. How can something look overcooked but still be raw inside? That's a hard thing to accomplish. I checked several pieces thinking maybe it was just that one piece and it wasn't. The entire order of sweet and sour shrimp was the same, overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Suffice it to say, I am very disappointed.

Even though it's only drive-thru and to-go, I love coming to this place. (used to be a Burger Street)The food is good, the service is excellent. I've been to a number of Asian restaurants where the service is lacking, but these people are really nice. Family owned restaurant. I love getting the chicken lo mein (large serving, enough for 2), chicken broccoli, and chicken sticks (a little too greasy for my taste, but good nonetheless). Haven't tried their egg rolls (ordered separately), but their soups are good too.

I really enjoyed the food of this place, I've been coming here for a while since 2007, unfortunately the quality of the food is not the same anymore. I ordered chicken low main, chicken teriyaki, kung pow chicken, spring rolls, egg soup and an order of Wontons the filling of the wontons was extremely salty, spring rolls had a very smooshed texture, egg soup was cold with a really thick consistency, chicken teriyaki can tell it was old or chicken that had been left out for a period of time with a hard outer texture, chicken low main was cold and noddles were smooshy, the kung pow chicken was the only thing that seemed fresh. I hope they can bring back their quality of the food, back how it used to be. Not the type to ever leave reviews but I was very disappointed.

I want to update my review. I love hot and sour soup and this is the best! Today I ordered a bowl from a highly rated North Dallas Chinese restaurant, with many compliments on their soup, and there was no comparison. Shang Yan definitely has superior flavor and variety of ingredients.

Like their food but bad communication... asked if I could come inside after ordering through the phone and said it was ok but then was told I had to go through the drive thru after waiting over 15 minutes

Very good Chinese food and very good people will definitely be back. I am very picky where I buy my Chinese food from

I've been coming here for a long time noodles are always fresh and not many places compare to the quality! Highly recommend
